About Alexis Perez
Let me introduce myself, my name is Alexis Perez and I had the honour to have created ‘Pachamama Retreat' for you to connect with mother earth (meaning Pachamama), yourself and other people. I come originally from South America, Uruguay and have been living in Tasmania since 2011. I have been privileged in life to have the opportunity to travel and live around the world; and I must say that Dolphin Sands is one of the most beautiful places I have seen in the world. The inspiration of glamping accommodation is because I believe that life can be simple, and a tent allows having a simple and comfortable place that brings us to nature; closer than conventional rooms. I learnt it after seeing indigenous cultures in the South America Andean Mountain Range (Inkas), where I trekked the entire range from Ushuaia to Colombia, as a reward to myself after fighting cancer and to learn more about life. First of all, this trip taught me a lot about living a simple life (by carrying the basics in a back pack such as food, tent and clothes), having a purpose (fulfilling life by engaging with indigenous people and reaching beautiful landscapes) and most importantly‘living in the present’ Secondly, because I am a cancer survivor, I know how important it is to be present, because tomorrow we do not know if we will be in this wonderful planet. People in developed world seem to spend a lot of time planning about the future but sometimes they forget about ‘living’. What I have seen in developing countries from where I come from and from my travels, is that the only thing most people focus on is today (i.e. get food, shelter and enjoy family, friends and communities). After this trip, I got inspired that I wanted to find land with mountains and sea (because this type of landscape really touches my soul).

Why Alexis Perez chose Dolphin Sands
Pachamama Retreat is located at 1130 Dolphin Sands Road, Dolphin Sands in Tasmania, Australia, at the Great Oyster Bay on the East Coast, overlooking the iconic Freycinet Peninsula, Hazards, Schouten & Maria Islands and 2km from the international recognised Moulting Lagoon Game Reserve; this 5 acres property is the ideal place for relaxation, contemplate fauna, flora, culture and learn about self sufficient & sustainable living system. Pachamama Retreat’s’ purpose is to create a platform for people to fulfil their souls, mind and body, and for a moment to live the present. As a cancer survivor I know how important is to live the moment, because the only thing we can control is the time right now. Pachamama means ‘Mother Earth’ in Quechua & Aymara languages, who are the Andean people in South America. Pachamama brings protection, prosperity, generosity, fertility and symbolised a balanced life based on the four Quechua principles of Water, Earth, Sun and Moon. Pachamama Retreat was developed from a vision created from my trekking trip in the Andes. I wanted to develop a place for people to connect with mother earth, with themselves and with other people to enhance well-being by enjoying the present in a stunning beach surrounding by mountains, sea, lagoon, flora and fauna, and positive that you need for happiness! Pachamama Retreat aspires to offer more than just accommodation. It offers a concept and a way of living where people will learn about themselves, sustainable & self sufficient living system, while connecting with nature, loved one/s and experience a sense of community with other people. It is for that reason and following the four Inka's principles of WATER, EARTH, MOON and SUN, that I built a traditional water well (WATER), a vegetable garden and planted fruit trees (EARTH), and have tents positioned where the SUN and the MOON rises and sets.
