Built in 1927 by the famous Scripps family in the unique "storybook" style, the home has been remodeled with the latest features to enhance its old world charm. This special "castle" features an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area, 5 separate bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and loads of outdoor patio space, providing the ideal mix for both quiet relaxing and fun social time. During the summer season, rentals run from Saturday to Saturday.

Located in the heart of Pacific Beach (PB) San Diego's premier beach destination, the location can't be beat. Pack your wagon with surf and sand toys and head west for 2 blocks to the Pacific Ocean. Or, switch gears and head south 2 blocks to Mission Bay for a leisurely bike ride or to read a book on the sand. Forget something at the store? Ralph's supermarket is a 5 min. walk away, as are a wide variety of restaurants and shops for every taste.

Individuals under 25 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. NO SMOKING AND NO PETS.

Check in 4:00 pm on date of arrival and check out is 10:00 am on date of departure unless other arrangements are made with owner. We look forward to meeting you in PB !

Perfect vacation rental

Our extended family spent a week together in San Diego and this house was perfect for an amazing vacation. The location is awesome. Some people in our party had a car, but we did not and we didn't need one at all. The beach and bay are only blocks away. There is a Ralph's grocery store about two blocks away and many restaurants, bars and shops all within an easy walk. Also a bus stop a few blocks away made for an easy trip to La Jolla, other areas were easily accessible by bus too.The house has two parking spaces around back, street parking looked hard to come by.

The house was very clean and everything was in working order, plenty of pots and pans in kitchen and plenty of towels etc. Ryan was very accommodating when we showed up early with our little kids after a cross country plane ride and welcomed us in for a quick tour and to leave our bags as they finished up readying the house.

My kids loved the "triangle room" with sloped ceilings, My In laws enjoyed the large airy Master suite with large bathroom and we enjoyed having the balcony room with sunlight coming in and access to roof top hot tub and (sea world) fireworks viewing. One bedroom is downstairs and has an attached full bath, my sister in law found that one helpful for tending to her baby. The upstairs 3 bedrooms share one bathroom (4th upstairs room is master with private bath) only thing that would have made the house more comfortable for our party with small kids would have been at least one bathroom with a bath tub, the three full bathrooms each have a shower.

The back yard area is beautiful and relaxing, lots of seating areas, gas BBQ and shallow pool made it tempting to stay at the house all day. The rooms are large and even with a larger party we never felt cramped or short on space. This house is great, Ryan is an accommodating host and I hope to be able to go back to stay again someday, next time two weeks!

Wonderful Property

We have stayed at several properties in San Diego and this was one of the best. San Diego is notorious for very tight parking spaces, but this property had excellent parking for two vehicles, without the typical cement pillar that you must maneuver around.

The backyard was securely fenced, with plenty of seating, and our young grandchildren were in the heated pool several times per day, between the multiple trips to the ocean. The ocean is an easy two block walk, and Ryan had a small foldable wagon that the small children would ride in.

We reviewed some properties that stated 4 or 5 bedrooms, that appeared to be converted walk-in closets, but this property had 5 separate and spacious bedrooms with unique roof configurations due to the design of the house. There was plenty of room inside for relaxation without ever feeling cramped.

Since we had two small children we did not go out for dinner, but with Ralphs only 2 blocks away, a beautiful outside grilling area, and great kitchen, we preferred to stay in and cook.

One of the reviewers mentioned the owner living on the property, but if you didn’t read the comment you would never know it. The owner lives in an apartment on the side of the house, but has a separate entrance and it is external to the main homes fenced yard. We met Ryan upon arrival, and I only saw him one other time on the entire trip, when I actually went over to speak to him while he was working in his garage, again external to the rental home. I thought it was very convenient to have him there if we needed anything, but the house was problem free.

Everyone said it was one of the best vacation homes that we have stayed at to date, and we are looking forward to returning.

Great family house!

Our 3-generation group had the chance to live in this great house near the beach. Bedrooms were large and could easily accomodate more people, especially our 2 babies. Unfortunately, the pool was not working for half of our stay but the owner repaired it as fast as he could and agreed to compensate for it. Only complaint is lack of a wardrobe in the main floor bedroom. Enjoy this almost historic house just as we did!

Great for a large group.

Ryan's home was perfect for a large group! We all had enough personal space as well as "elbow room" when all together. We appreciated the location for easy access to both the Bayfront and Ocean boardwalks!

Awesome!

This place was perfect! We stayed for a week with seven adults and three children. The house was large enough to accommodate everyone and give privacy. The backyard with the pool is fantastic for kids and the hot tub on the roof is perfect for adults. You are walking distance from the beach and plenty of restaurants. It's a 20 minute drive to any other tourist destination in San Diego. The owner is very accommodating and gives you space. Would love to go back!
