The Barn is a converted barn which has retained it's lovely stone walls & exposed beams. Located in in a lovely village, Dampierre sur Boutonne, with shop, bar and Chateau all within 400 meters; a two minute walk to buy your breakfast baguette and croissants in the morning & a two minute stroll to have a glass of wine in the local cafe/buvette in the evening, looking out on the Renaissance chateau. The shop is open 7 days a week and even does takeaway pizza.
The property was once part of a working farm. It has a large kitchen/dining/living room area. The kitchen is fully equipped with over, microwave, toaster, coffee maker. There is a dining table which seats 4 and a sofa bed and chair. Upstairs is a large bedroom with a double bed and single bed under the eaves, suitable for a child. There is space for a small be or cot, if this was preferred to using the sofa bed. The shower room is located upstairs off the bedroom. The property is ideal for 2, but can easily accommodate four.
Outside is a large,covered private terrace area with table, chairs and BBQ. Lovely and cool in the summertime.
Cool off in the heated pool, play table tennis or pool in the games barn, sunbathe on the terrace, play badminton on the lawn.
Wifi and English TV
Fishing, cycling trails, hiking paths all start in the village, we have some bikes, but can also arrange for bike hire if the sizes are not correct. we can also arrange canoe hire or fishing trips.
Towels and bedding provided and laundry facilities are on site.
The Barn is one of three gites at La Petite Ferme, the other two being The Framhouse (sleeps 6) and Fig Tree Cottage (sleeps 2/4). Each gite has it's own private terrace, eating area, but share the pool, sun terraces, lawn and parking.
Aulnay, with it's bar, restaurants, twice weekly market and large supermarket (Intermache) is an 8 minute drive, while the larger, lovely market town of Saint Jean D'Angely is a 15 minute drive. Here you will find a number of supermarkets, bars, restaurants, twice weekly market as well as a range of leisure activities such as karting, boating and swimming.
Ideally situated to be within a 45 minute drive of a number of historic and beautiful towns and activities; the beaches of La Rochelle and Royan, as well as equally gorgeous but lesser know beaches such as Fouras and Chatelaillon Plage. Cognac, home of the world famous cognac houses of Martell, Hennessy and Reme Martin and an 18 hole golf course. Jarnac, a beautiful riverside town, home of Corvoisier. Saints, Niort and Angouleme, for culture, sights and shopping.
3 miles away is the world famous Asinerie du Baudet du Poitou (Poitou Donkey Farm) and Zoodysee, wild life park is a 15 minute drive.
There is plenty to do in the area for everyone and lots of opportunity to relax and unwind for those who prefer a quieter vacation.
