There is also an enclosed porch off of the great room lined with cedar, with an electric fireplace. The Golden Road Living room also has a 42' flat screen TV. The lodge is equipped with Direct TV. Each one of the living rooms also has a gas fireplace. In the event of a power outage, the lodge is equipped with a backup generator, that is fully automated. The outdoor area has a horseshoe pit, and fire pit. The lawn is spacious and flat, and the property is bordered for privacy on either side with fencing.
We are life long Mainers growing up on the coast in Bucksport, Maine. I attended school at the University of New England, and went on to graduate school at the University of Maine in Orono. I work as a scientist at The Jackson Lab in Bar Harbor, and my husband works as a builder in the Bucksport area. We share our home with our two St. Bernards, and one Newfoundland. We are adventurists and we love the outdoors and in particular the fun that Northern Maine has to offer.
Melissa Osborne purchased this lodge in 2001
Our family would often summer at Jo-Mary Lake Campground, this is where we fell in love with the Millinocket Region. In 2001, the opportunity to purchase Ambajejus Lodge came along and we jumped on it. It has been a special place for making memories for our family. My husband and I are avid hikers and we were married at Pamola Peak on Mt. Katahdin in 2004. We continue to hike all over Baxter State Park every year. The lodge held a special place in my dad's heart, it was his pride and joy. He loved to have guests up to camp, and there was always room for many. He passed away in September of 2013, but he always wanted to be at camp. He loved to take our guests on a party boat tour of Ambajejus Lake. Those who come here to play, to relax and to unwind should know they will always have a kindred spirit watching over them. We have had weddings, family reunions, receptions, Thanksgivings, Christmases and Easters all at camp and each one is a special memory. The lake takes hold of your soul and brings you peace, and we have found it a great comfort throughout our lives.
One of the nicest things about this property is the vast amount of space both inside and out it has to offer. We have had as many as 14 people staying at camp with us and there is never a time when it felt crowded. It offers privacy both inside and out, and there is nothing finer than getting up before everyone else and grabbing a cup of coffee and sitting on the dock.
Spent one night before heading up to camp in the mountains. Great spot with a gorgeous view of the lake and very spacious accomodations.
The place was big. The pictures on line do not do the property justice. We have rented many houses on home away and this house was very well stocked with towels,t.p. Soap and other essentials. It was a pleasure having all that. The biggest plus is the yard and the view. We would rent there again......
Although our stay was shortened due to the lack of snow, the house was well layed out with two large spacious great rooms for relaxing and smaller sitting area overlooking lake. Kitchen and bathrooms were stocked with all your needs. If you forgot something it was there. Lake view was absolutely beautiful as we watched soaring eagles.
Easy access from main road with plenty of parking for our two large trailers. Enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this rental property.
Looking forward to returning next year.
Enjoyed the comfortable accommodations. Plenty of room for 10 people. Directly off the main road. Must be beautiful in the summer too. Will definitely stay here again. The groomers did a fantastic job with what snow they had. They groomed as often as they could. Description was accurate. Very clean accommodations. Gas close by. Owners did a wonderful job making us feel welcome. Highly recommend staying here. Many places to see. Town close by. The entrance to the park is close. Right on the lake. beautiful westerly view from one of the many couches. Our stay was enjoyable.
This was our second family (9) stay for our annual snowmobiling trip. Very clean, lots of space for everyone, easy trail access and a large parking area for multiple trailers. Great place to stay especially for larger groups.
Thanks again Melissa.
Enjoyed a great weekend of snowmobiling, ice fishing and relaxation. The view was spectacular. We were able to leave right from the house to snowmobile trails. This is our 2nd stay at the lodge and eould highly recommend if you want to just relax, enjoy beautiful views or snowmobIle into town. Also enjoyed the warmth of 2 fireplaces
Ambajejus Lodge is located 10 miles from the Togue Pond Gate (Southern Entrance) to Baxter State Park. Baxter State Park harbors Maine's tallest peak - Mount Katahdin. It also has numerous trails for day hiking as well. We have been up every trail in the South Basin of Katahdin and several of the surrounding peaks. There is a hike for every level. We are also located near Katahdin Air, taking people on daily scenic flights around the region. Also nearby is Penobscot Adventures offering river rafting tours. Ambajejus Lake is among the Pemadumcook Chain Lakes and is home to some great game fish. In addition, we are located in moose hunting zone 10, with plenty of room for your entire hunting party. If you are into snowmobiling or ATV riding, ITS 85 is located directly across the road from the lodge. The Northern Timber Cruisers Club House is also approximately 7 miles from the lodge, and this group maintains the Katahdin Region Multi-Use trail system, the first of its kind in the state!
