3 bedroom, 1.5 bath house for rent on Kingsley Lake with spectacular view of the lake. Sleeps 6 comfortably. Dishwasher, small washer/dryer and cable tv included. House sits on the water with large glassed-in porch over the lake and there is a large covered dock included. Kingsley lake is conveniently located 30 minutes from Jacksonville, FL and 45 minutes from Gainesville, FL. It is the perfect place for a family getaway, girls weekend or a great place to stay for the Florida Gator games due to its proximity to the University of Florida.
A public boat ramp is not available at this time. There is no public access to Kingsley Lake to launch your boat in the water unless you have military access at Camp Blanding which is on the lake. If you are military you will need to confirm the process for launching your boat in the lake directly with them. If you are able to launch your boat with your military access you can tie it up to the side of the dock, but there is no boat lift at the house for boat storage. For more information please contact us.
Kingsley Lake, six miles east of Starke, Florida, is steeped in history and geological significance, as well as being one of the most popular recreational spots in Northeast Florida.
Kingsley Lake is the oldest and highest lake in Florida, being perched on the eastern slope of Trail Ridge, which was the first part of the Florida peninsula to emerge above sea level in the Pleistocene era. Geologists also believe that it was formed as a giant sink hole (over 90 feet deep at its deepest point).
It is also the most stable lake in the North Central Florida area, according to U.S. Geological Survey data, seldom fluctuating more than 16 to 18 inches in measurements above sea level. The water remains delightfully cool during the summer months, since it is fed by countless underground springs around the shore, as well as in the lake itself.
Kingsley Lake is 5.5 miles around the shore line, and 2 miles across in all directions. It covers approximately 2,000 acres, according to Starke surveyor M. G. McMillan.
Our house sits over the water and has unparalleled views of the lake and the convenience of the water right out the glass doors.
Rented the lake house for a family vacation and it was very nice had everything you needed and was close enough to Starke that you could go out for a family meal. The renters were friendly and eager to show you around and answer any of your questions. The only down side is that you cannot launch a boat, there are no public access ramps on Kingsley. We had fun fishing, kayaking and just relaxing in and out of the water.
This home was perfect for our large extended family. We love water activities, so we spent the day kayaking and boating. Our kids were able to catch some fish (a first!). We grilled oysters and watched the beautiful sunrise and sunset. The home really is perfectly positioned over the lake, it's neat to walk out and feel like you are floating over water. We did leave some personal items at home, but not to worry as the place is fully equipped with anything you could need. The best part is that we were so close to Gainesville, we were able to attend a night Gator football game and not have a long commute. Count us in again for next year!
