About Tim

We are a Midwestern family of 4. We enjoy all of the activities on the island and especially planning and all sitting down for dinner together without everyone going in different directions. It is a great place to bond as family and with friends.

Tim purchased this house in 2013

Why Tim chose Florida

The island provides a true tropical island retreat with all the comforts of civilization, only at a much slower pace. If you are looking for strip malls this is not your place, and that's just fine with us.

What makes this house unique

La Brisa is a great property for multiple families with kids, a group of friends, or even a family reunion wedding or special holiday. With a private pool and plenty of room to stretch out you can put a lot of people in this home and not feel at all crowded. Since purchasing the property in 2013, we have been upgrading with fresh paint, a new grill and outdoor seating and I'm always available to assist guests with any issues that arise during your stay.

Such a relaxing escape!

  • 5 of 5

The house and amenities were fantastic and exceeded our expectations! The kitchen was large and fully updated with everything you needed to prepare your meals. The bar stools and beautiful dining room table sat many people and were top notch! The two great rooms were wonderful for relaxing on the leather couches while the kids could play video games in the adjoining great room. The beds were comfortable and the rooms decorated superbly. The bathrooms were updated and everything was very clean. The large tiles in the entire upstairs flooring were perfect for a sandy getaway and look like they were recently installed. All of the decking was wonderful for sitting and having coffee and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. The pool area was great being screened and a few nice tables for enjoying a cold beverage and snacks. This was a great vacation and can't wait to go back!

Not kept up

  • 2 of 5

Overall, I felt as if the house had been left in disrepair. There were areas were the siding was missing. The handle for the screen door was broken. The water would stop all of a sudden; and drainage was really slow. The ice maker didn't work. The refrigerator leaked. Didn't even realize there was an outdoor shower until half way through the week since it's placed in an awkward spot. There were nails sticking up on the deck - my sister cut her foot on it. There weren't closets in each room. There were no dishtowels so we used bathroom towels the whole week. The cooking utensils are lacking - no large steamer. They misplaced one of our bins and couldn't locate it for a full day and it had food in it. When we arrived, there was garbage strewn all over the garbage shed that hadn't been cleaned up. Upside, CJ was responsive and friendly.

Owner's Response: Sorry to hear you had issues while staying at my house. I just spent a few nights there specifically to assess the condition of everything after the spring break season. The ice maker, which also resulted in the water on the kitchen floor has been replaced. I've also had a major component of the water system replaced since your stay. I can't really comment on the lost bin since that is not related to the house itself. I'll have the club inspect the deck for any problems with the decking this week. Sorry to hear you had those issues, but I always ask that guests call me directly if there are any issues with the house to allow me to work with the club to have them addressed immediately rather than finding out through a review such as this one. All guests are provided my personal cell number which is 513-807-5574.

Best Vacation

  • 5 of 5

When planning our family vacation, we had to find a house that was big enough to sleep 14 people; this house fit the bill. We had never stayed on North Captiva Island, so we did not know what to expect. The house and the island EXCEEDED our expectations!!!! Morning walks, then pool time, nap time, beach time, then island exploring time...repeat everyday. It was great!!!! We had a few minor issues and the owners response was immediate. The house has plenty of room for everyone to relax and have fun. We are planning to return for our next family vacation in 2018.

Loving Life at La Brisa

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in La Brisa the beginning of April, 2016 and were so thankful for such clean and spacious accommodations! The sprawling space of the house was appreciated (as we were traveling with our extended family which totaled 6 adults and 6 children.) La Brisa was completely safe and well suited for kids. The house was also very well equipped with everything we needed to relax and enjoy our vacation. The added golf cart was a true bonus and a walk right across the road to the North Captiva Club was also very convenient! The big decision of each day was whether to enjoy the pool at the house or venture over to the North Captiva club pools. Sometimes we did both! The pool deck and grilling area was amazing and the screened in area by the pool definitely kept any bugs away!

Tim, the owner, was very responsive to any questions we had ahead of time. He was a pleasure to work with. We are already in the process of booking our next visit to La Brisa in 2017. We will most definitely return to this property.

Florida Gem!

  • 5 of 5

We had never been to North Captiva Island despite going to Florida many times in the past and in fact had never heard of it. This is totally different than neighboring Captiva. This island is a really incredible unique spot. Only accessible by boat (small planes on a grass runway), it is close to Ft. Myers-nearly an hour from the airport- but seems remote, like being on a Caribbean Island. There is no place to go, no stores, nothing but sand-fabulous beaches- and hopefully sun and an amazing place to relax. Agree with what I had read elsewhere; bring half the clothes and twice the food. There are a few tiny but really fun places to eat but check availability. The house is super and would be ideal for a large family or family reunion. As usual with my VRBO experiences, the home was exactly as described and pictured on the internet site. The place was clean and neat. The owner Tim was an exceptionally gracious host and really communicative and prompt with response to my inquiries. I wouldn't change a thing. Would go back in a heartbeat and would be delighted to stay at this amazing home again.

Location

Car: not necessary

No cars, noise, neighbors, or pollution. North Captiva Island is one of the few slices of paradise left in Florida. Electric golf carts only on the island and plenty of green space between houses equals a private tropical paradise. Miles of empty beaches and 350 acres of state owned nature preserve for you to explore. Included with rental is full use of the North Captiva Island Club amenities which include free kayak use, beach chairs, and bikes for exploring the sandy roads. The resort also boasts a Caribbean style pool bar, two pools, playground, tennis courts and basketball court. Watch Manatees and dolphins play in the surf, or enjoy world class fishing which includes tarpon, redfish, and snook just to name a few.
