|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Casa Blu is an utterly unique vacation cabin that puts you just minutes from every activity on your Park City vacation agenda.
Just 4 doors up from Grappa Italian restaurant/Wasatch Brew Pub, 2 blocks from the Egyptian Theater (center of the Sundance Film Festival) and PCMR's Town Ski Lift and lockers are three blocks away, to which you can catch the free Main Street trolly right outside our front door.
All other Historic Main attractions (shops, restaurants and galleries) begin just feet from Casa Blu- no car needed! And Park City's FREE shuttle means the rest of the area's attractions (Deer Valley, The Canyons and Kimball Junction) are minutes away, too.
Inside, we've hung old photographs of the cabin and Park City in their past lives, and incorporated antique details like the mirror in the bathroom, which is made from a recycled, 100-year-old tin ceiling.
Of course, we've also outfitted Casa Blu to suit the needs of a modern vacationer. A fully equipped kitchen provides a user-friendly space to cook a meal. A washer and dryer in the cottage are perfect for soggy ski clothes. And entertainment options like high-speed Internet and flat-screen TVs mean you can cozy up with a good movie in the land of good movies (Sundance, of course). There's even an electronic fireplace to take the cozy factor up another notch!
In a house this compact, every detail counts. The comfortable and modern design scheme is carried throughout, and the open floorplan and big windows flood the space with natural light.
Believe it or not, this adorable cabin has room for two bedrooms, and sleeps 5 guests (or 4 adults, if no children).
One bedroom provides a queen-sized bed wrapped in bright linens and luxury sheets. The other is great for kids, thanks to its bunk bed system with a twin on top and full bed on the bottom.
Its cozy front porch faces a park area that's great for dogs (Casa Blu welcomes dogs!) and kids. The porch is also looks Eastward, great for watching the sunrise on our new modern chairs, with a good cup of joe in hand (complimentary selection of coffee and hot cocoa are offered, of course).
Altogether, you won't find another home in Park City like this one. Come and see our Park City gem for yourself! We look forward to sharing this charming piece of history with you.
*Also has AC now for the summers!
Just like you, I prefer booking a vacation rental over a hotel. I love the detail owners put into their homes and learning why their home and city charms them. I try hard to nod at PC's past, while providing modern amenities and personal favorites that will add to your trip to provide you the best vacation rental.
I am originally from Minnesota but am now a Park City resident and absolutely love it here! I spend my free time being outside and enjoying everything that draws tourists; amazing trails, slopes, food, music, art, people and climate.
I'm a lover of great food, friends, my two rambunctious kids and knowing I gave my guests a vacation to remember forever.
I was immediately drawn to, okay obsessed with, Casa Blu because it's so cute! It's at the top of Main (just around the road bend at Grappa so it feels private), surrounded by the other homes that were founded with Park City.
Casa Blu was actually built in 1860, one of the first in town (the first mine was claimed in 1868 for reference). It's a piece of history and the Mayor once lived across the street!
The size is great for couples, small families/groups that are looking for a home (not one excessive in size or budget) over a condo or hotel.
The location is perfect- you will be minutes from world-class skiing/snowboarding. Including, Deer Valley, Park City Mountain Resort, The Canyons, Snowbird, Alta and Brighton.
During the summer, this property is also central to all PC activities (music, biking, restaurants, Farmers Markets, etc).
On a personal note: I love history, art and the charming warmth special places exude. I got the warm fuzzy feeling every Sunday, for 3 months, when my kids and I walked by this little blue delight on our weekend Main Street stroll. This Minor's Cottage is certainly charming but is also a piece of the dynamic history Park City offers.
Our renovations (being completed Oct-Nov, 2013) will be truthful to this property's rustic heritage but will also add a touch of elegance and art. We hope you enjoy it!
Being a resident, I often give recommendations on where to eat, what to do, daycare and any other details you might want/need a local's insight on. I try to include a lot of this on Casa Blu's website to help even those not staying with us :)
We stayed at Casa Blu once last year in February and this year in January and the owner, Kris helped us enormously - going above and beyond each time. She helped us secure a babysitter, hard to get tickets to a performance, etc. When we stayed to ski - we were able to look out the window and see when the trolley was coming - staying warm til the last second. And we never had to get in our car during our ski holiday.
We loved our stay at Casa Blu in Park City. It is a charming and cozy little cottage, perfectly located for easy access to all the ski mountains and for walking to town. The cottage is very clean and comfortable and the owner was great to deal with. We will definitely be back.
Casa Blu is adorable, cozy and extremely well appointed. Historic and quaint outside, and inside it was modern and spotless. Kris was great to work with - we were in desperate need of escaping our home renovation projects in Salt Lake City but didn't want to stay in a hotel. Kris replied to my inquiry on Friday night within minutes, and by Saturday afternoon we were enjoying beautiful Park City! Even our two dogs were made to feel welcome - she left a sheet to protect the couch, toys, and food and water bowls. The location was fantastic - right at the top of Main Street, so we walked everywhere - and directly across from Casa Blu is a park that supplies poop bags for the dogs. Thanks, Kris, for being so accommodating. We would love to come back!
Casa Blu is close to nearly everything worth being close to in Park City, and Kris, the landlord, is among the best you'll find on VRBO. I'd give the Casa five stars except for the parking. More on that below.
The address should tell you everything you need to know about the location: it's Main Street (the far south end). Main Street's busy (of course), but you're an easy walk from most of Park City's better restaurants (including our faves, Vinto and High West), its best coffee house (Publik) and the better of the two local brewpubs, Wasatch. About the only things that aren't a short walk are the grocery and drug stores, though my wife and I walked and biked to those, too.
If you've come to ski, you don't need a car--the Park City buses serve all of the PC resorts and spare you the hassle of parking in the immense and crowded lots at the base of the slopes. If you come during non-ski times, a car helps. While there's an extensive network of trails starting in town--see Mountain Trails Foundation to learn more--the better trails, in Big and Little Cottonwood and Mill Creek canyons and the Uintas, require a car to access.
Kris, the Casa's landlord, is the best owner I've dealt with through VRBO. She's a former analyst for a Fortune 500 company, and it shows--she's cheerful, professional and prompt. If you have any problems, she attends to them quickly. If you have questions, she's happy to answer. What's more, she's provided just about everything you'll need in the house. Best part: *no* flakiness, which is often the downside of renting through VRBO. You know: "Did we mention that our African gray parrot will be staying in the house?" Or: "Oh, you also want heat? We charge an extra $50 a night for that."
So what's not to like? The parking. There's a little lot about half a block away, but we were seldom able to get a space there. After that, the only option is the China Bridge Deck, which is about four blocks away. So like I said, save yourself the hassle and don't bring a car if you don't need to.
Casa Blu is absolutely adorable! The house is small but cozy and is full of character! Even the landscaping in front of the property added to the charm. The quality of the home was excellent. It was very clean, we were provided with everything we needed and we were able to feel right at home from the moment we walked through the door! Kris is amazing to work with and she even had a chilled bottle of wine waiting for us when we arrived! It is in walking distance to literally EVERYTHING... even the liquor store is only two blocks away:) I was a little concerned because there is no AC, however it was not an issue. The fans provided enough air circulation to keep the temperature pleasant and the cool mountain air at night was very refreshing. I also thought that parking may be an issue, but it wasn't. Kris provided us with a parking permit and there was always at least one free parking spot available in the lot across the street. I could go on and on about our experience...lets just say that we will definitely visit Casa Blu again! If you choose to book a stay, I highly recommend you drink a hot cup of coffee or tea on the front porch in the morning at least once! There is something about breathing the fresh mountain air as the sun rises on you that is absolutely magical!!!
Husband and I stayed here for 3 nights on our ski vacation to Park City. Kris always responded to our questions leading up to our trip and even while we were there (p.s. the extra toilet paper is stored above the dryer!). The house is ADORABLE. The decor is so quaint and we appreciated all of the small touches throughout the house that really made it charming. The house was perfect for the 2 of us. We stored our luggage in the 2nd bedroom and essentially used it as our closet, which worked out well. The location was fantastic and we enjoyed walking into town for dinner and browsing the shops. FYI breakfast places don't open til 8am! If you can, get to the High West Distillery before 5pm and put your name in. Best dinner hands down. The walk to the slopes (the Town lift) was not horrible (but not close). We found out that for $3 you can store your skis at the town lift shop so that we didn't have to lug them back to the house! Perfection. We really enjoyed our stay and were tickled that we had such a great little house to come home to every night. Thank you Kris!!
