What an amazing weekend filled with fun and relaxation. This is truly our Island in the Sky! Thanks Bob for being so helpful in making sure we felt comfortable. This trip was a much needed getaway.
PS - Ziplining at Navitat Rocks! Also, look out for the Emu!
My daughters and I spent a wonderful, long weekend at this cabin. It was clean and comfortable and had plenty of space for the 3 of us. The views are exceptional and there is so much to do in the area! I thought the pictures and descriptions were generally accurate. I would love to go back. Be warned though that the road to the cabin is not for wimps. I drive a Honda CRV with AWD. We were able to make it up to the cabin, but in one or two places, it was pretty touch and go. Kristen was great! She coached me on how to get up the mountain and she led us up more than once!. By the end of the weekend, it had become kind of fun! Still, I would not have attempted it after dark or if it was too rainy. For us, that was fine. We were there to relax and hang out together, but I can see how it might be a negative for some. That said, I hope we can go back again soon!
Spent a full week up there for our honeymoon. The views are even better than the pictures would have you think. We also were lucky to be there in the fall so the trees were full of changing colors and blue skies. The pictures inside are pretty accurate other than in a couple small places. The house is very nice with many nice features but leaves a slight bit to be desired in the down stairs shower. That being said its not near enough to prevent me from coming back or not recommending it to others.
Plenty to do downtown, especially if you like craft beer. The owners are full of suggestions on restaurants and attractions around town to go experience and were very nice to talk to.
Cabin was exactly what we were looking for - the most beautiful view and only 12 or so miles from downtown Asheville. Surrounded by mountains with more than enough land to hike right outside your backyard. There is another rental property next door, but other than that, you'll be at the top of a secluded mountain. The owner Bob was very friendly, and overall we were happy with our experience and would recommend this rental. The cabin was clean, had all the basic cooking ware, but did NOT have a propane grill - we were provided some charcoal and lighter fluid - I recommend asking the owner to leave extra charcoal in case you decide to grill more than once. Also, each room has more than one space heater so there is plenty of warmth, but I can see space heaters being an issue with small children.
My husband and I had a wonderful time spending a week at The Island in the Sky! It was extremely quiet, and it wasn't too far at all from downtown Asheville! We were able to relax as much as we wanted and then go out on the town for delicious food and plenty of shopping (and plenty of other things to do). Kristen, Bob, and Melissa were very kind and helpful if you had any questions at all. The home was very cozy and was fully equipped with everything that you need. Not to mention the view!!! It was surreal. Thank you for a memorable honeymoon :) We will be coming back for sure!
The most beautiful secluded cabin up on a gorgeous mountain! The owners were so helpful and gave us many great places to visit when we went into downtown asheville. So much to see and hike just around the cabin itself, it was just the weekend getaway we needed! We will definitely be back!
Loved Weaverville, 10 minutes from Asheville which was perfect. Bandarsville was my favorite took dirt roads everywhere even to Craggy Peak via some info from a lovely local lady who was birdwatching on Pisgah which is where Bob sent us for our first hike. The switchback to the house is not for the faint of heart however there was an Audi there with very little clearance that I watched come and go so if you can drive you can do it. We completely enjoyed our stay. Glorious views both day and night.
Thank You, Dan and Sheri
