Your Tropical Beachfront Paradise Getaway

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

Minimum Stay

About the property

Three kingsized bedrooms, three bathrooms, on the beach.

Casa Kiara in Sayulita, is a charming, completely private, casual beach house. Steps away from the sand at the quiet North end of Sayulita, it boasts indoor and outdoor living at its best. Palapas and infinity pool, nestled amongst the tropical landscaping, create a little oasis. A quick cab ride, or 15/20 minute walk into town along the road, or the beach, makes it just far enough away from the maddening crowd.

Take a jog or mountain bike ride through the jungle path right next door, or wander over to the next completely deserted beaches. Enjoy exquisite sunsets and the sound of the waves at your front door. Allow the jungle sounds to soothe you to sleep, and the pounding waves to greet your dawn.

Each bedroom has its own bathroom. Washer, dryer and maid service is included.

About Sue-Ann MacCara

Our family currently resides in North Vancouver, Canada. We purchased Casa Kiara to escape Vancouver's sometimes rainy greys! We love the flavour of Mexico, with its vibrant culture and beautiful people.

Sue-Ann MacCara purchased this house in 2013

Why Sue-Ann MacCara chose Sayulita

We fell in love with Sayulita the minute we arrived there. We purchased Casa Kiara after the first time we stayed in Sayulita. It was a perfect fit for our dream of living on the beach in retirement one day. It is unpretentiously adorable, like Sayulita itself, and fits our casual and easy-going way of life. I am from South Africa originally and the tropical birds, palm trees, wildlife and landscaping reminds me a lot of my childhood. The town of Sayulita is safe, friendly, bustling with just the right amount of shops, restaurants, vendors and helpful people.

What makes this house unique

The thatched roofs, infinity pool steps from the sand, casual out door living, and the fact that it is far enough from the maddening crowd, yet still very much part of a community, made us fall in love with our adorable little home away from home.

Girls birthday!

We stayed in this amazing home the end of September for my girlfriends 60th birthday. We both brought our daughters and had the best time. Perfect time of year. Quiet town and awesome thunder/ lightning storms every night. The weather was perfect for lounging by the pool. The kitchen is well stocked and perfect! Location is great! A lovely little 10 minute walk either on the beach or road. We love Sayulita and this home! We will definetly be back! Thank you Sue- Ann for providing a great space to just relax!

Not for everyone and that is perfect of us!

  • 5 of 5

This is actually the first time that I have ever taken the time to write a review. I am not sure why that is but I know why I am choosing Casa Kiara to be the first for a review from me. The place is amazing and exactly what we were looking for. As our son said “ You guys have really set the bar high with this place. Thank you for booking this place.” Those words were spoken within 15 mins of being at Casa Kiara as after we dropped our stuff and all ran into the ocean. Our group consisted of my wife and I, our two children (son 14) Daughter (17) and yes, our daughters (18) year old boyfriend. We wanted to make sure that it was a great trip as Mexico and this region is very special to us as my wife and I have been heading to PV since I was 17 and wife has been coming to PV since she was born. I fell in love with charm since that first trip in 1989, We have seen the area change so much and that is what brought us to Sayulita for part of this trip. I wanted “old school” beach town for our daughter and her BF. We also love to be on an adventure and when I saw this home on-line, I knew it was the place for us.

The stay was amazing. We loved it. Every moment of it. My wife is always worried about bugs, and there was some, but not bad. We lucked out considering our stay began July 3rd with the weather as it can be really hot this time of year but it was perfect. We had the best time playing card games around the table, making quesadillas and chorizo con huevo, daughters BF teaching my wife how to play beer pong on the deck, swimming at night in the pool, hiking next to the house, body surfing steps from the pool. It was great. So fun that we realized later that we did not even use the beach chairs that the owner is nice enough to leave on the sand.

The town is great. We have been all over Mexico and this one is really towards the top of the list. Great plaza, great restaurants, , fun rock cliffs to go jump off. I would like to BS and say that we didn’t have a great time at Casa Kiara because like a good band, you sort of want to keep it to yourself, however I can not do that with good conscious. The owner was very gracious and her place is amazing. I hope the prices do not go up drastically as it was a reasonable price at the time. I hope she offers return visitors discounts ;-) as we plan to return hopefully sooner than later. All 5 of us had a blast and daughters BF said that it was the best vacation that he has ever been on.

Owner's Response: Hola Brent. I can't thank you enough for this wonderful, detailed review. We would be delighted to welcome you back and yes, our return guests definitely receive a discounted rate. We have since renovated the house, which includes another king-sized bedroom upstairs and an updated kitchen. All the best to you and your family. Sue-Ann and Scott

Paradise in Sayulita

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 just returned from Casa Kiara on July 15th. We booked this house after reading the outstanding reviews.

The house exceeded our expectations from the moment we walked in. It's location is truly the best in Sayulita, situated on the north end of the beach, which means privacy!

It's a bit of a walk to the town center, but it's a great work out. If we went to town twice in a day, we'd taxi back for 60 pesos(plus tip) which was awesome. We ended up renting a golf cart for the last few days which wasn't necessary but a blast for our boys (16 and 12). That was their highlight.

The house is very open, which means you need your bug spray and mosquito nets up at night. I thought this would be a problem for me, but you get used to it and just prepare yourself. I read it one review that the ocean was too loud to sleep and I thought I would love a loud ocean. But it is VERY loud. Again after the first couple of nights I got used to it. Again... It's the ocean!!! :)

The view is absolutely the best ever. From morning to night, it was stunning. World class sunsets. Each sunset the Cicadas sound their warning. Our first night we thought an alarm was going off! So magical.

The town is cool and has a relaxed vibe. Safe for Mexico standards. It was fun to go each day to shop for food and people watch. Not a fan of the crowded beach and it seemed a bit polluted. Again making us grateful for our distance from the crowd. The boys loved Choco Banana for their daily treat and we loved the Public House for our daily Happy Hour Margarita (When we asked when happy hour was, the owner said 'now'). We didn't eat out at any restaurant even though I we heard amazing things about them. We lived on fresh mango, avocado and nachos ... Heaven.

The staff was awesome. Abraham cleaned outside and the pool each day and taught us a few Spanish words. He is a sweet soul! We wanted to hire him back in Canada. Eric the manager was helpful and always prompt in answering our questions (instant reply!). Gladys was so sweet.

The owner, Sue-Ann was so helpful from start to finish. She gave us some tips before we left, like using VIP transportation from the airport which gave us an awesome start to our vacation. All the staff spoke so highly of her that you just know she's a lovely lady.

Since being home I've been sharing my photos with anyone that will look! We will definitely be back!

Rustic and beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

Casa Kiara is a slice of outdoor heaven, so very relaxing. The whole house is set up so that ocean breezes are constant and bedroom walls are movable...In fact, walls feel like an illusion, even though the house is very private and secure. If you love the beach, the sound of pounding surf, and to be one with nature without the inconveniences of living outside, this house is for you. Because of the overall openness of the property, you'll also see some lizards and an occasional beetle, but they just added to the cool vibe. This is a very unique, tranquil spot; the upstairs is akin to a big party treehouse complete with a dining patio and bar and outdoor (half-wall private) bath. The infinity pool is stunning and perfectly placed. Note: we did not use the mosquito nets the first night, and even though we did not see or hear them coming, did get some bites. Subsequently, we slept inside the nets, with no problem.

All the food we ate in Sayulita was extremely good. In fact, the $2 shrimp (langostino) tacos we had just about everywhere were one of the highlights of our trip.

Owner's Response: Wow, thank you so much for such a detailed review of our casa. Sorry about those mosquitoes, seem to be more of them once the rainy season starts, generally not so pesky from November through to the end of April. We hope to welcome you back sometime.

Wonderful, relaxed stay!

  • 5 of 5

We were in Sayulita for a wedding and couldn't have picked a better casa and location. The house had everything we could possibly need to make our stay comfortable. Just steps from the beach and a beautiful infinity pool.

The staff were all very pleasant and so willing to make sure our stay was a great one! I would definitely recommend Casa Kiara to friends and family.

Slice of Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Casa Kiara exceeded all of my expectations. Located directly on the beach, the property provides the best of both worlds: rumbling waves crashing onto an empty beach, or a beautiful walk to the action at the beach in front of the small attractive Sayulita town. Close enough to shops and restaurants, yet far enough to enjoy the tranquility of a house designed for relaxation: multiple levels, open doors and windows, outside living, infinity pool, majestic views, awesome sunsets, great company. The only problem was leaving paradise - a couple of years stay would have been perfect.

Casa Kiara is one of the few stand alone beach houses in Sayulita. Surfing and stand up paddling available a short walk down the beach. It is far enough away from the busy crowd, but close enough if you like that. Be sure to take a catamaran trip with Allycat Adventures to the Mariettas Islands, hike through the jungle right next door, enjoy dining for well under $10 from the local taco vendors, or finer dining at your leisure. There are fabulous yoga options, fun boutique shopping, lots of jewelry shops, art vendors, but then you might just want to relax by the pool and sip margaritas!
