I work for a commercial builder and I have worked pretty much throughout Canada. I fell in love with PEI a lot of years ago. A few years back, we bought a 'family farm' on PEI to share with my family - and we have thoroughly enjoyed our experience in southeast PEI. When this fantastic cottage on 17 seaside acres was available, there was no resistance! We want to share the PEI experience with those who will respect the island and the fantastic islanders, alike.
Tim purchased this cottage in 2013
It's cozy, comfortable & it evokes the whole culture of PEI! Beautiful interior, exterior & yard - with simple perennial gardens and apple trees near the cottage - and crops from the 'yard' to the edge of the sea. Gorgeous views abound!
Privacy, quiet, views, full digital TV & wireless, vintage antique furniture, oceanfront solitude, water activities (kayak and paddle board are available for renter's uses), proximity to attractions.
These guests were a pleasure to have stay in our cottage! So happy you were charmed by our little cottage over in Southeastern PEI!
We will hope to host you back here again sometime - until then, please keep well!
This charming cottage exceeded all of our expectations. It has been beautifully restored. In addition to the quaint charm this home has top working appliances, new windows, new bathroom, new screens on the screened-in porch...etc. Every detail has been either restored or brought up to high standards.
The house was very clean. The bed comfortable and linens piled high and cozy. We loved the deck off the bedroom.
The location was great for exploring eastern PEI - it was a quick trip into Charlottetown. We played golf at Dundarave, Brudenell & Crowbush...easy driving (there were few cars on the road).
Pictures cannot convey what it is really like to stay in this cottage. The view from the cottage is breathtaking - so peaceful. After we met the farmer next door there were waves and greetings when our paths crossed.
We stayed only 5 days. Our next visit will be much longer. This cottage is perfect.
Tim - Thank you. Our stay was exceptional.

Spent a very enjoyable 3 days at this lovely house by the sea, while vacationing back to the Maritimes with our grown children. This restored farmhouse was almost perfect for our needs; "almost", because it is a ways to the far side of Charlottetown. That being said, we would never have been introduced to the charms of the area otherwise. The owner, Tim, is a gracious host, and responded immediately to the few concerns that we had on arrival. He was awesome. We couldn't have been more impressed with him! The house is lovely, but be aware that it is historic, although well-restored, with a new basement and furnace. We loved the quaint styling, the eclectic, but well-stocked kitchen (No need to bring a lobster pot! If you need a utensil, it is there.) The 3 bedrooms and 4 beds were perfect for our needs. The master bedroom has a walkout balcony; perfect for stargazing and listening to the seals/sea lions(?) calling eerily throughout the night. The 2 bicycles, kayaks, canoe and paddle board were lots of fun on the shallow, safe beach reached by a footpath in back of the house. There were lots of beach towels available. The washer/dryer in the basement were a welcome surprise, although elderly visitors may find the trapdoor and steep stairway a hazard. Although we were able to stay for only 3 days, one could easily have spent more time here, relaxing and exploring the surrounding area. I would recommend you explore The Old General Store in nearby Murray Harbour. The wifi was appreciated, although we never did turn on the TV. Several games are available, but feel encouraged to bring your own for evening time around the kitchen table.
One warning. We had excellent directions from Tim's site to the house, but relied instead on our GPS. Beware! Our GPS on Google Maps took us to the wrong area/house some miles away, yet on iMaps it worked properly.
Finally, when you arrive, be sure to look for the "Mouse by the Sea" hiding somewhere in the place. Don't worry; it's not real, but from the Old General Store. We left it there for you to find. You'll see when you get there and read the guestbook! ;)
We so loved our time at the Vintage Comfort Cottage. Excellent family time in a spacious yet cozy authentic farm house was just amazing. We were looking for a place to unwind and relax and we have found it. We took the opportunity to paddle board and sea kayak with the seals and our family of 5 had one of the best experiences ever on the water in a quiet tranquil bay. Everything worked very well and we had no issues with anything. Our kids really enjoyed staying in a home that had all the bells and whistles like a trap door to the basement and laundry chute! We cannot wait for our next visit to vintage comfort and we do not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. If you get a chance to go you will be truly rewarded and blessed.
My husband and I rented this house for 10 days for a working vacation and it was absolutely perfect for us. Both of us were working on various writing projects so a quiet spot by the seaside fit the bill nicely. The house is charming, well decorated and maintained and the owners were very helpful. The private path down to the harbor was a nice break whenever we needed a walk. We were there in April so obviously the weather was a bit cold (we even got a bit of snow!) which was actually great for us because we needed to work and it just made it all that much more cozy. All in all it was a great experience. We did manage to set off the alarm once though (sorry Tim).
My husband and I and our little dog enjoyed a weeks stay at this cottage. We relaxed, enjoyed the bikes, and even took the canoe out in the bay one day.
It's quite private and lots of room for a dog or children to run in the back yard. The reason I won't give it five stars is because of the surveillance cameras at each entrance. The owner must have had some problems to need to put them up but it's not fun to sit on the back porch with tea and look up to a surveillance camera pointed your way, kinda spoils the moment.
Also, the bathroom door wouldn't latch or even close all the way due to the humidity. This wasn't a problem because it was just my husband and I but something to consider if there was more than one couple or a family.
Otherwise it's a cute, clean cottage with character.
We had an enjoyable stay here in Aug/September 2015. The cottage was as described. The canoe, kayaks, and bikes were there to enjoy along with the life jackets a and bike helmets. A canoe ride and the bikes were a highlight for us. ( A side note the one bike seat needs to be fixed. It wouldn't stay in place, so we temporarily "rigged" it while we used it.)
The cottage is older which brings the admired character along with a few quirks. It was damp that time of year so due to the moisture the bathroom door wouldn't shut completely, which was ok for just my husband and I but might be a problem if there was a family or more than husband and wife.
The reason I don't give it a five star is that there was video surveillance at both entrances. Obviously there has been some problems for the owners but I personally don't like to be on vacation and have the feeling we are being watched whenever we sit on the porch or come and go. If that doesn't bother you then I would highly recommend this place.
It is a charming, clean cottage with lots of yard for a child/ren to run or a pet to run like we did. I enjoyed walking to the water once or twice a day and my little doggy was thrilled too. 😄
If you love the outdoors, you will find it here....or nearby!
We have a kayak and a paddle board, for use with this rental and we also have a selection of indoor and outdoor games.....of the old-fashioned & interactive variety! The property is served with security system, high speed wireless internet, smart TV and phone.
The nearby communities of Murray River and Murray Harbour have interesting shops and restaurants serving great food & drink. Montague is also very nearby - with full services, a wider selection of food & drink and a vibrant harbour.
Panmure Island Provincial Beach is fantastic! The beach sand is white, the ocean is warm and all of this beauty lies hidden from the road/ parking lot by gorgeous sand dunes. They have lifeguards, a small restaurant c/w ice cream and a liquor license. It is located about 6 - 7 minutes drive away.
Basin Head Beach, also a Provincial Park, is about a 40 minute drive away - but we find it worth driving to at least once a week during summer! This is home of the 'singing sands' and the 'jumping bridge' - visit to discover details, for yourself!
This location is not especially close to such tourist attractions as Ripley's Museum, Anne of Green Gables, et cetera. These attractions are about a 1.5 hour drive NW of our property - so they are still convenient enough to visit, if you wish to.
We hope that you will find this property as wonderfully enjoyable as we do! We also hope & trust that you will come back to PEI whenever you need peace, clean air & open space.
We reserve the right to charge a cleaning fee and/ or a damage fee if the property is left unreasonably unkempt - although our wish is to never have circumstance to have to enforce this right.
