I work for a commercial builder and I have worked pretty much throughout Canada. I fell in love with PEI a lot of years ago. A few years back, we bought a 'family farm' on PEI to share with my family - and we have thoroughly enjoyed our experience in southeast PEI. When this fantastic cottage on 17 seaside acres was available, there was no resistance! We want to share the PEI experience with those who will respect the island and the fantastic islanders, alike.
Tim purchased this farmhouse in 2013
It's cozy, comfortable & it evokes the whole culture of PEI! Beautiful interior, exterior & yard - with simple perennial gardens and apple trees near the cottage - and crops from the 'yard' to the edge of the sea. Gorgeous views abound!
This is the best that PEI has to offer, in terms of oceanfront cottage living! Privacy, quiet, views, full digital TV & wireless, vintage antique furniture, oceanfront solitude, water activities (canoe, kayak and paddle board are available for renter's uses), proximity to attractions.
These guests were a pleasure to have stay in our cottage! So happy you were charmed by our little cottage over in Southeastern PEI!
We will hope to host you back here again sometime - until then, please keep well!
Very quiet and very private yard. Our first trip to PEI, we will definitely be back. Great seafood (of course), and it was so nice to be able to just pick up fresh shellfish nearby at the wharf, veggies at the store and be able to have a "home away from home" to cook and live. Tried my hand at clam digging on the beach, only managed to find one small one. When eating out nearby, a must try is the chowder at the Harbourview restaurant in Murray Harbour.
This is an extraordinary old house. Do not stay here if you can't do stairs as all the bedrooms are upstairs and the washroom is on the main floor. I loved the way they have kept many things "original" and well decorated. The most comfortable beds in two of the three rooms! Third bed would be good for smaller children. The hidden mouse was a delight as well. The view is okay - it is about a 4 minute walk to the beach and it is a lovely beach as well. The mosquitos and horseflies were very hungry so bring bug spray! We didn't use the kayak or the canoe because of the bugs and the work required to get them to the ocean, but mostly because of the mosquitos. No mosquitos at the beach area though so that is nice. This place was well equipped with spices, fans, updated bathroom, lovely real silver cutlery, dinnerware, pots and pans. Plenty of linens were provided as well. Great location close to lighthouses and other beaches. It is a beautiful part of the country! We would stay here again.
My family spent one week at this lovingly restored, very well cared for, farmhouse at Murray Harbour North. It is a beautiful old house but with modern touches such as a new bathroom and very comfy mattresses and furnished with beautiful antiques. There was nothing we needed apart from our groceries. My husband and I especially enjoyed sleeping at night in our spacious bedroom and watching the full moon rise over the harbour where we could hear the seals barking or whatever it is seals do at night, the night birds singing and basking in the lovely cool salt sea air breezes wafting through the room. We visited the nearby beaches and traveled to Charlottetown as well as Stanhope Beach where we had the best fish and chips ever, at Richard's Seafood there and believe me, we know our fish and chips! The kids loved jumping off the bridge at Basin Head Beach and playing at the nearby King's Castle Provincial Park. All in all a lovely time was had by all.
This charming cottage exceeded all of our expectations. It has been beautifully restored. In addition to the quaint charm this home has top working appliances, new windows, new bathroom, new screens on the screened-in porch...etc. Every detail has been either restored or brought up to high standards.
The house was very clean. The bed comfortable and linens piled high and cozy. We loved the deck off the bedroom.
The location was great for exploring eastern PEI - it was a quick trip into Charlottetown. We played golf at Dundarave, Brudenell & Crowbush...easy driving (there were few cars on the road).
Pictures cannot convey what it is really like to stay in this cottage. The view from the cottage is breathtaking - so peaceful. After we met the farmer next door there were waves and greetings when our paths crossed.
We stayed only 5 days. Our next visit will be much longer. This cottage is perfect.
Tim - Thank you. Our stay was exceptional.

Spent a very enjoyable 3 days at this lovely house by the sea, while vacationing back to the Maritimes with our grown children. This restored farmhouse was almost perfect for our needs; "almost", because it is a ways to the far side of Charlottetown. That being said, we would never have been introduced to the charms of the area otherwise. The owner, Tim, is a gracious host, and responded immediately to the few concerns that we had on arrival. He was awesome. We couldn't have been more impressed with him! The house is lovely, but be aware that it is historic, although well-restored, with a new basement and furnace. We loved the quaint styling, the eclectic, but well-stocked kitchen (No need to bring a lobster pot! If you need a utensil, it is there.) The 3 bedrooms and 4 beds were perfect for our needs. The master bedroom has a walkout balcony; perfect for stargazing and listening to the seals/sea lions(?) calling eerily throughout the night. The 2 bicycles, kayaks, canoe and paddle board were lots of fun on the shallow, safe beach reached by a footpath in back of the house. There were lots of beach towels available. The washer/dryer in the basement were a welcome surprise, although elderly visitors may find the trapdoor and steep stairway a hazard. Although we were able to stay for only 3 days, one could easily have spent more time here, relaxing and exploring the surrounding area. I would recommend you explore The Old General Store in nearby Murray Harbour. The wifi was appreciated, although we never did turn on the TV. Several games are available, but feel encouraged to bring your own for evening time around the kitchen table.
One warning. We had excellent directions from Tim's site to the house, but relied instead on our GPS. Beware! Our GPS on Google Maps took us to the wrong area/house some miles away, yet on iMaps it worked properly.
Finally, when you arrive, be sure to look for the "Mouse by the Sea" hiding somewhere in the place. Don't worry; it's not real, but from the Old General Store. We left it there for you to find. You'll see when you get there and read the guestbook! ;)
We so loved our time at the Vintage Comfort Cottage. Excellent family time in a spacious yet cozy authentic farm house was just amazing. We were looking for a place to unwind and relax and we have found it. We took the opportunity to paddle board and sea kayak with the seals and our family of 5 had one of the best experiences ever on the water in a quiet tranquil bay. Everything worked very well and we had no issues with anything. Our kids really enjoyed staying in a home that had all the bells and whistles like a trap door to the basement and laundry chute! We cannot wait for our next visit to vintage comfort and we do not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. If you get a chance to go you will be truly rewarded and blessed.
If you love the outdoors, you will find it here....or nearby!
We have a kayak and a paddle board, for use with this rental and we also have a selection of indoor and outdoor games.....of the old-fashioned & interactive variety! The property is served with security system, high speed wireless internet, smart TV and phone.
The nearby communities of Murray River and Murray Harbour have interesting shops and restaurants serving great food & drink. Montague is also very nearby - with full services, a wider selection of food & drink and a vibrant harbour.
Panmure Island Provincial Beach is fantastic! The beach sand is white, the ocean is warm and all of this beauty lies hidden from the road/ parking lot by gorgeous sand dunes. They have lifeguards, a small restaurant c/w ice cream and a liquor license. It is located about 6 - 7 minutes drive away.
Basin Head Beach, also a Provincial Park, is about a 40 minute drive away - but we find it worth driving to at least once a week during summer! This is home of the 'singing sands' and the 'jumping bridge' - visit to discover details, for yourself!
This location is a lovely drive from Cavendish's tourist attractions such as Ripley's Museum, Anne of Green Gables, et cetera. These attractions are about a 1.5 hour drive NW of our property - so they are convenient to visit.
