Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday lodge in Anaconda - Rainbows End

5 Bedrooms, 3.5 Bathrooms, No more than 14 guests may stay overnight.

Spacious lake view log home on 5 acres with private boat dock. Maximum 2 boats allowed at this dock (use your own boats or rent some close by). Awe inspiring, 280 degree view of Georgetown Lake, Continental Divide Mountain Range and the surrounding forests. Ideal for peace and quiet. Neighboring homes all around, but far enough away to allow privacy. Walk 100 yards to the lake for summer or winter sports activities. Discovery Ski hill is a 15 minute drive from this home. It's the best kept skiing secret in Montana and is often praised as the best skiing, most reasonable prices. Use your own snowmobiles to ride over 120 miles of nearby groomed mountain trails directly out the front door. Old Works golf course is 1/2 hour drive to Anaconda. It is a Jack Nicklaus signature course, and a challenge to the best golfers. The lake offers boating, swimming, outstanding fishing both summer and winter. Para-skiing tournaments are held each February. Ice fishing is popular here. Two restaurants close by serve burgers, sandwiches, steaks and breakfast. The small community of Philipsburg is 20 minutes to the west and has shops, restaurants and entertainment. This is the most beautiful home on the lake with by far the best view. Come and enjoy! Please be aware that this is a log house in the woods in the country. There will be bugs occasionally. If you don't like bugs and the outdoors, this house is not for you. This is a smoke free home. Smoking is permitted outside the house. Please dispose of cigarette butts properly as fire danger is always high in western forests. Check in is at 5:00 PM and check out is at 10:00 AM. No tents or campers are allowed on the property. Day events (weddings, family reunions, etc) are limited to 40 people and there will be an extra charge of $500 per event. If the tenant's guest list exceeds 30 people, the tenant is required to rent a portable toilet to accommodate guests during the event. Tenant may do this by requesting a number from the property manager. The tenant is liable for any damage to or loss of property caused by the tenant or the tenant's guests. Therefore purchase of damage protection is recommended. There is a fee per pet per day, added at the time of reservation.

About Cora Wyant

We will give you information about the owners, but you will mostly be dealing with the on-site manager, Cora Wyant, who lives near the property. Cora is a friendly, capable manager and cleaner and will do what she can to make your stay the best vacation you've ever had.

I, Bob Morris, grew up in Anaconda and after college I spent my career in Mexico and in Southern California working in the aerospace & electronic industries. I returned to the community of my birth after retirement. Home again! My wife, Joan grew up outside Chicago and has lived in Montana for the past 40 years. She was Director of the Western Montana Metal Health Center. We are currently retired and reside in Anaconda, although we love to travel and stay in VRBO homes all over the world!

Cora Wyant purchased this lodge in 1993

Why Cora Wyant chose Montana

We built this house after selling our electronics business in San Diego. We first owned a smaller house nearby but I always envisioned spending my final years on a mountaintop to see the sun come up in the morning and go down in the evening to fish, ski, hike and snowmobile right out my door. It's a dream come true.

What makes this lodge unique

We built this house in 1993 and we never get tired of the magnificent view over the lake. To see the wonderful mountains, forests and animals and experience the beauty and craftsmanship of a log house is beyond description. if I had it to do over again I would not change a thing, neither the location or the house itself, there is nothing to compare it with. Western Montana is in a class all of its own and luckily this part of it is still relatively undiscovered. We are so pleased to be able to share it with you.

very nice home

  • 5 of 5

The home was clean. Nicely decorated (cabin style). The wild life around the area was amazing. We had moose siting every day! One evening a bald Eagle was on the tree boughs. The only draw back is that the dock is a bit of a distance from the home so fairly unusable.

Perfect setting for our wedding!

  • 5 of 5

This home is even more amazing than you would think from the photos! We used the back yard for our small family wedding and it was unforgettable! We had a unique opportunity to rent this home plus two others on the same road, and this home was by far the best place to stay. The construction is rock solid and the details are grand and beautiful. It was roomy but private, cool during the day but comfortable at night. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived. We knew that a log cabin near a mountain lake would come with its share of bugs and spiders, but we saw nothing alarming or out of the ordinary inside the home. The dock was a short walk away but close enough that we used it extensively throughout our stay. We didn’t mind the exercise after eating wonderful meals cooked in the gourmet kitchen! The pots and pans have just been replaced and were fantastic. There were touches of class everywhere, from the beautiful glassware to the multiple sets of dishes and personal decorating pieces. And of course the view and setting are stunning. Your family will treasure their stay in this incredible home!

Family Reunion at Georgetown Lake

  • 5 of 5

I took my daughters and their families to spend a week close to where their Dad grew up. We had a wonderful week! Digging for sapphires, kayaking on Georgetown Lake, making s'mores in the evening around the fire pit, playin cards with the lake and mountain as a backdrop, watching the resident mule deer doe and twin fawns who made their home in the yard. The house was beautiful and spacious. It was a perfect place to spend precious time together.

The cons outweighed the pros

  • 3 of 5

Unfortunately the cons outweighed the pros of this property. While it was the perfect location for our trip and was big enough for my entire family with beautiful views, there were too many issues with the actual house. When we first got there, there was an overwhelming scent of varnish, like they had recently re-done the floors without airing the place out….a warning would have been nice. The place is flat out dirty and dusty. Cob webs everywhere, spiders everywhere and even dead bugs in the bed, which in my opinion is unacceptable. The house is older than it looks and the faucets sprayed water everywhere, literally had to protect our clothes from getting wet and had a mess to clean up every time we turned the faucets on. The hot water faucets and toilets also made a horrible high pitched squealing noise. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and utensils, but they are very old and gross.

We also had a visitor, a bat, one morning that eventually disappeared and thankfully did not bother us at all. My comment below will explain why I didn't even try contacting the property manager unless it became a nuisance.

But by far the worst part of the experience is the lack of responsiveness from the property manager. While she was accommodating with our request for different check-in and check-out times she was very slow to respond even taking up to 3 full days to get back to me after sending an email.

Outstanding stay for 6 - near perfection inside and out.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed over the winter holiday around new years, Skiing at Discovery, snow shoeing and generally enjoying ourselves.

The house is grand - and as good as the pictures make it look. The kitchen and dining room are well supplied with cooking equipment as well as nice dishes, wine glasses, etc. The nicest we've ever had. Appliances are all outstanding. The views are even better - looking across Georgetown lake to the mountains beyond.

The manager was excellent, resolving a couple minor questions and problems very promptly and extremely courteously.

Furnishings are comfortable and stunning. Formal dining for 8, complete with china! Artwork is museum quality. Views are even better.

A couple minor issues: no matches or newspaper were left for starting the fireplace; not all directions about light switches, fuse boxes, etc were current. The 2nd floor bathroom shower head really needed replacement and that bathroom has high ceilings and was a bit chilly - needed a space heater.

This is the nicest rental I've ever had. I would give it 6 stars if I could. The house was built by the owners, who really knew how to build a first class house.

This is a beautiful place to stay. It made our mini family reunion perfect. Lots of time together yet enough space for down time.
