This charming unusual old house was rescued from years of abandonment and restored by the current owner. It is ideal for family holidays, with 3 good-sized bedrooms, all air-conditioned; the king-sized room has an en suite shower-room, and there is a large family bathroom. Most of the accommodation is on the ground floor, with one bedroom (the twin-room) up in the tower, boasting amazing views in all directions.

The modern kitchen has all the facilities you would expect as well as views over the beautiful surroundings. There is a comfortable sitting-room with air-conditioning, and a dining room which leads through to the kitchen. If you want to accommodate more people, the Stables Casita (a self-contained apartment with a double bedroom) is available at a supplement to the standard villa rental rate.

The main feature of this property is its stunning saline swimming pool, 12 metres long, with gorgeous uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside. The pool is fully but discreetly fenced and gated giving total security for families with small children. The water is shallow throughout (approx 1.2m) with wide in-built steps, perfect for small children to play on or learn to swim from. The house, pool and jacuzzi are set in a beautiful Mediterranean garden planted with lavenders and oleanders. The property is situated at the end of a long private drive and is extremely tranquil and secluded.

The owner is on-hand to offer any advice or assistance, or help you book restaurants, tickets to local attractions, or give any directions.. She is a UK qualified massage therapist, so why not book yourself a treatment and add to your relaxation! The owner lives in the stables casita in the field below and takes care of the pool and all the maintenance issues so you can relax.

There are various resident animals on the property so it should not be considered by anyone with allergies or aversions to cats, dogs or horses and donkeys.

Set amongst the beautiful olive groves typical of this region, the house enjoys stunning views of the Andalucian countryside, and total privacy.

The area is very well-located with excellent road connections to access all the wonders of Andalucia.

Loja, the nearest town, (15km away) has classical Moorish origins with a restored Alcazba (fortress) and views to the often snow-clad Sierra Nevada mountains.

Granada is an easy 45 minutes drive, and you can be in the Alhambra, world-renowned heritage site, in under one hour. Cordoba is an easy 90 minute drive away, with its wonderfully preserved Mezquita; and the glories of Seville are just 2 hours away. Malaga is within easy reach (under one hour), as are the extensive beaches of the Costa del Sol. Malaga is the nearest main airport, with many and varied connections from the UK and Europe arriving regularly.

Golf: There is a good golf course in Antequera, about 30 miles away.

There are several cats around so this property would not suit anyone that does not like cats or is allergic. There are 2 donkeys and a horse in the field below. The owner lives in the stables casita, unless this is rented with the villa as one booking. It will not be rented out to a separate holiday rental.

Beautiful villa and pool in stunning location

Breathtaking views over the rolling Spanish countryside is best viewed from the pool, where you can watch the sun go down whilst enjoying the last, languid swim of the day. The villa is very spacious and comfortable with all the mod cons and stylish decor. Wonderful walks in the Torqual National Park and visits to the Pompidou Centre in Malaga and to the Alhambra make for fascinating cultural diversions. The local food and wine is delicious and varied and is complimented by the warm hospitality.

Lovely villa in a gorgeous location

We had a fantastic stay here and cannot wait to return. The location will not suit you if you like to be close to restaurants and bars at night, but there is an excellent supermarket in Loja where you can stock up. The house is bright, clean and well equipped with lovely views from the turret room and main bedroom. The outdoor space is large, with lots of areas to sit and enjoy the views and there is a large outdoor dining area. The pool is larger than average, so wonderful if you want to get exercise and is great for games with the children. The hot tub is an extra treat! The views from the villa and poolside are simply gorgeous and it was such a treat to relax and enjoy. The clear skies at night allow for great star gazing. The children loved meeting the animals. The house is within easy driving distance of some of Andalucia's gems such as Granada and Córdoba, though for us the greatest delight was enjoying the tranquility of the villa. Philippa is an attentive yet discreet host and everything ran very smoothly. The villa is the perfect place to rest and relax and enjoy the peace and beauty.

Peaceful stay in beautiful surroundings

If you're looking for a holiday in a quiet and beautiful part of Andalucia, this is it. The house is full of character, and you really feel like you're experiencing the best of both worlds: the comfort of a clean and well maintained house, with the traditional trappings of rural Spain. Owner Philippa provides lots of information about things to do, and really could not be more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for her. The pool is fabulous, with stunning views across the valley (and a great spot to observe the bird life too as swallows swoop across the pool house). The kids loved the hot tub, which felt like a real luxury. The property is well located and we were able to travel to Granada, Loja and Archidona, which are all within easy reach. The reservoir at Iznajar is worth a trip, the kids (and mum) loved the pedalo with slide. Although the house and surroundings are so delightful you'd also be happy to not leave the poolside sun lounger! All in all very highly recommended.

Wonderful!

This is a lovely holiday house. Three very spacious bedrooms, and well equipped kitchen. The sitting area inside is maybe a little cramped,but perfectly comfortable. The highlights of the house are outside though - fabulous views over the valley and its olive groves, teeming with bird life (hoopoe, jay, goldfinch, swallow, bee-eater and a huge sparrow family!). The grounds have lots of different areas to sit, read and eat that means there is sun and shade available all day. Possible to walk round the area in a loop for 45 mins or so, which is nice.

The house is at the end of quite a rough track ... No need for 4x4, though I would not have liked to have arrive at night for the first time.

Philippa, the owner, is a lovely host. She lives 50m away and is always available but very unobtrusive! She greeted us with a supply of bread, ham, olives, beer, wine, olive oil etc for a snack lunch which was lovely.

The pool is great .. A good size, quite 'refreshing' in late May, with a super pool area and covered veranda overlooking it. In May the evenings were cool (lovely!) so we REALLY enjoyed the hot tub then, looking up at the stars :-)

Loads of places to visit. The house is about an hour from Malaga and Granada; Córdoba is a bit further but worth the effort. Highlight for us was the Alhambra ... Simply stunning. A visit to El Torcal, wolf park, Antequerra and Priego de Córdoba all worthwhile.

Overall? Very highly recommended!

Owner's Response: Thank you Duncan and Moira for your kind review - I am glad you had such a good time. It's just a pity the pool was rather chilly when you came in May! By now (mid June) the water is a gorgeous 28c, so quite a different prospect! As you mentioned, the beauty of this house is in its outside areas, and in the main summer months the sitting room doesn't feel small, because very little time is spent inside, and all meals can be eaten outside. I hope one day you might come back and enjoy it in the heat of the summer! Best wishes.

Lovely Villa in Secluded Setting

A beautiful, comfortable, well-equipped property in lovely grounds with panoramic views of the hilly Andalusian countryside. Fabulous gated pool area with shower/loo plus availability of water aerobics/sports massage with the fully trained owner: Philippa is very charming & helpful & speaks fluent Spanish. Perfect for a relaxing, get-away-from-it-all holiday. Very private. Highly recommended. There is also a converted stable block, away from the main house, which would suit a couple/singles perhaps interested in bird watching, hiking. Comfortable double bed, bathroom with shower & large kitchen area. Car a must, interesting towns nearby.
