The Bargemasters House was built in 1784 and retains much of its original character. The apartment is a typical Lewes property, cosy, compact and full of quirky detail. It is on the ground floor of the main house.
The front door leads into the charming sitting room complete with wood burner, comfy sofas. One of the sofas becomes a double bed. The kitchen is compact yet everything you need to self cater with a dining table for four.
The bedroom is next with a comfy double bed, plump pillows and cosy lighting. There is an ensuite shower room. Outside there is a small garden and sitting area. TV, Radio and lots of books make this a delightful and peaceful place to spend time, relax, sleep lots and then visit the town, there is always lots going on. Restaurants and good gastro pubs with real ale brewed in our town are on the doorstep, lots of antiques shops and little interesting shops to browse and we have amazing charity shops.
The railway station is seven minutes away and trains run into the centre of Brighton every ten minutes and into London every half hour. Public transport is excellent, buses run all along the South Coast and to delightful Georgian Tunbridge Wells.
We stayed in Belinda's appartment for 2 weeks, my husband and me, our twins almost 3 years old and our dog. The place is perfect size for a family, it has every single detail you can need for your stay. It is perfectly well located, just next to the center of the town but also to a great place to have lunch every day (The Snowdrop Inn). Belinda is the most helpful host I have ever met (and we travel a lot!). Lewes is very beautiful, parking in the apartment area is easy and there are amazing walks just around the apartment, as well as shops, activities for adults and children and parks. I would totally recommend to stay at Belinda's place to anyone, it is really one of the best apartments I have ever rented!
This small apartment is clean, well presented and in an excellent location. The hosts were flexible and lovely, they also provide clear instructions. This was a perfect stay for my folks, who stayed over during the Christmas holiday, everything was easy, comfortable and simply lovely.
The place is very nice, clean and close to a good pub !
I recommend it for a couple and 2 childrens.
Thank you Belinda.
