About Richard and Audrey Koerber

We have lived in the Asheville for over 30 years.

As licensed natural health care professionals, we are happy to help visitors connect with any services desired from the very broad selection of Asheville natural health professionals.

Both Richard and Audrey come from large families and appreciate the preciousness of spending family time together, especially with grandchildren. We're always ready to add a few new visiting “family members.”

Our interests include swimming, hiking, biking, traveling, and we love meeting new people. When traveling we enjoy experiencing local cultural experiences and the people native to that area. Travels that we yet long for are many, including bicycling in Bhutan, revisiting South America and always more time in Southern France or Nova Scotia, Canada (Richard's home previous to Asheville.)

Richard and Audrey Koerber purchased this apartment in 1997

Why Richard and Audrey Koerber chose Asheville

We've seen Asheville grow from a desolate downtown into the thriving, vibrant community that it is today. We love sharing “our town” with visitors. We are familiar with many special places of nature to visit via foot, bicycle, boat or motor vehicle. We also are happy to share our favorite restaurants, microbreweries and music venues.

Brief history on the house:

The land was purchased on August 29,1897 for $300. The house is believed to be built a year later in 1898. George and Isabelle Cooke built the house. He was born and educated in England. He entered the lumber business in Canada and met and married his wife there. He had lumber mills in Canada and Florida and it was this business that brought him to Asheville, where he established a lumber mill at the present site of the Biltmore Estate, the property afterwards was bought by George W. Vanderbilt. He was a resident of Asheville for nearly half a century and he was connected with Hans Rees Tannery, buying timber and bark, and his reputation for honest dealing made him known and revered throughout Western North Carolina.

We have owned this house since 1997.

What makes this apartment unique

We have created an atmosphere in our home/suite that reflects the type of warmth, hospitality and relaxation that we have often been blessed to enjoy while traveling abroad. We hope that you will enjoy your stay here !

Guestbook comments from the manager

Just Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Three of us met up for a girls getaway, and we weren't disappointed. The place reminded me of my Grandma's, all warm and cozy, but with modern amenities. Our hosts thought of everything! From a bottle of wine and chocolate when we arrived, to ample organic bath products and fluffy towels. The kitchen has everything you need including coffee beans and a grinder. I especially liked the electric tea kettle, so much so that I ordered one for myself before I left. The location is a residential area close to a few restaurants and walking distance of downtown. Everything was top notch, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Thanks so much :)

Super cute in great location

  • 5 of 5

Super cute and cozy place a mile, and easy walk, to downtown. Several eateries within easy walking distance. Stayed with 2 others for a women's conference. Ended up watching movies one night piled on the pullout couch. Glad our 4th didn't show because it would have been tight. Only complaint I can muster is the water pressure in the shower could have been better. But that won't keep me from booking this place again. It's a gem!

Wonderful place and perfect location

  • 5 of 5

The Albemarle Apartment was the perfect place for our Asheville vacation. The location is great, it's a bit out of the traffic and congestion of downtown, but you can easily still walk in to downtown. It's also a few blocks from one of the best eateries in Asheville, The City Bakery. I would 100% stay there again and recommend it to a friend. The place was very nice, clean, cozy and had all the amenities we needed. If there was anything you forgot on your trip, Richard and Audrey have thought to put extra of whatever you may need for your stay. They were even kind enough to leave us a welcoming gift of chocolate and a bottle of wine. Everything was as advertised and check in/check out was easy and painless. Prime location, beautiful place and great customer service - can't say enough good things about our stay, we are planning our next trip and will be staying here again!
