Maïon dou Rousier is a fully restored, 17th century stone village house, situated in the oldest part of the enchanting village of Haut de Cagnes. It is surrounded by houses with either stone facades, or painted in the traditional provencal chalk colours of terracotta or ochre. On the top floor, the house has a large living- and dining area as well as one big roof terrace and a small breakfast terrace. An old fireplace is the centre piece of the living-room, equipped with two sofas and a stereo. The dining-room seats 6. The kitchen is recently rebuilt and fully equipped. There are two bedrooms in the house, both with their own showers and wc. The master bedroom on the ground floor has a double bed, while the downstairs guestroom has two single beds that can be put together to form a double bed. The house is very well kept, and carefully renovated in the traditional style. From the roof terrace, you have a stunning view over the Mediterranean and Cap d´Antibes, but also to the mountains.
What made this so nice was that there was a free bus to take you into the village every 15 minutes. It had all the amenities and was very quiet though surrounded by all kinds of activity at the Grimaldi Castle. Beautiful plants outside, very comfortable inside - It was a perfect stay on the French Riviera. Highly recommend to anyone because you are close to everything. We will come back.
Spacious, close to all amenities and plenty of restaurants. The proximity to the Castle is a fantastic bonus! We all loved it here. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils and we wanted for nothing. The property is well looked after. We had fantastic weather so were able to enjoy the top deck and amazing view daily for breakfast!
The house is situated up in the medieval village of Haut de cagnes, a stunning village steep in the hills (free shuttle bus every 15 mins from cagnes sur mer takes 10mins). Some great restaurants and somewhere to relax away from the busy towns on the coast but with easy access to all on buses/trains. The house has an amazing roof terrace with great views that comfortably seats 4 people where you can enjoy all day sun, dine and relax. The house has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, perfect for 2 couples. Full wifi access in the house and plenty of books, games etc...home from home. Only 2 mins walk from the main square in the village yet very quiet. Try Entre cour et jardin, you may need to book, its not cheap but very, very good. Don’t hesitate just book this house.
Haut de Cagnes is a perched village of the Riviera, the medieval crown of the town Cagnes sur Mer, home of Auguste Renoir during his last 30 years. It is one of the last authentic villages not overrun by tourist shops where people live year round, and home to numerous artists and painters who come each year for its beautiful setting and incomparable light. The village, though free of tourist traps is only steps away from conveniences (great covered provencal market as well as daily farmers' market) either by way of walking or a free shuttle. There are more than 10 restaurants to choose from, one of them with a Guide Michelin star. The sea can be reached in a 20-30 minutes' walk. By car, it is 15 minutes from Nice airport , and 20 min from Antibes. Public transport to nearby St. Paul de Vence, Grasse, Cannes, and Italy is all within walking distance. Haut de Cagnes does provide it all by its central location and dual qualities. Historical - yet with modern accessible amenities.
