Overview

About the property

Quaint farm cottage; sleeps 6 to 8.

Charming barn-style cottage on a 20 acre family farm in north central Florida, just west of Gainesville.

The cottage is on our family farm and has a nice view of rolling pastures. It is a 1 bedroom/1 bath cottage that sleeps 6 -- 8. It has a queen size bed and a full size bed in the bedroom and a full-size sleeper sofa in the alcove. It has a fully equipped kitchen, a living room/dining room and 1 bathroom with a separate double sink area. There is a small storage loft in the bedroom. The cottage also has wireless internet, local t.v., a DVD player and DVDs, and a washer and dryer. It has a fenced yard with it's own entrance. Linens and cookware are provided.

We are located between Newberry, Fl and Trenton, Fl, 22 miles west of Gainesville, Fl. It is a quiet, convenient place to stay when visiting the University of Florida. We are only 5 miles west of the Easton Newberry Archery Center and Canterbury Equestrian Showplace. We are close to the Nature Coast State Trail (cycling, walking, horseback riding) and there are many springs in the area. We are 48 miles from Cedar Key, 53 miles from Ocala, 99 miles from St. Augustine/Crescent Beach, 128 miles from Disney World and 20 miles directly west of I-75.

The cottage is located on a farm. We have three horses, a small herd of miniature Zebu cattle and a flock of chickens (both hens and roosters). We also have a few farm dogs and cats. It is a great place to get away for some rest & relaxation and sit out and watch the stars at night!

About Rob & Tracey Francis

After moving to north central Florida to attend the University of Florida, we decided that we loved the area and wanted to stay. Eventually we purchased property and turned it into a small farm.

Rob & Tracey Francis purchased this cottage in 1999

Why Rob & Tracey Francis chose Trenton

Our family loves living out in the country and the area has some rolling hills and a nice view. It is quiet and peaceful and at the same time, close to many attractions and a convenient distance to Gainesville.

What makes this cottage unique

We built the cottage for visiting family, but it isn't used much, so we decided to make it available as a vacation rental. It is a great place to stay whether you're traveling to the area for sports events, to visit the University of Florida, or just to spend some time in the country!

Secluded and quiet for relaxation and rest. Property very easy to find.

  • 5 of 5

My sister and I were there for a week and we had friends and family over and had a wonderful time. Thank you Tracey and Rob for making your cabin in the woods available. Would love to come back later when our weather in TN is cold and snow on the ground. One problem and it was solved very quickly. Joan

Perfect country cottage with modern amenities

  • 5 of 5

This cottage has a country setting with a beautiful view from the porch. You can sit on the glider on the front porch or at the table just inside and watch the sunrise every morning. For a city girl, the quietness was amazing to me, nothing but nature and nature sounds.

My welcoming committee was a very affectionate cat who loved to be petted and came around a few times throughout my stay. The cottage was well maintained and stocked with everything you would need for your stay, except for your personal items and your food of course. Everything you would need is a short drive away.

Everything the owners described about the cottage and the pictures are exactly what you will get and see.

Thank you for allowing me to stay. For my stay, this was an absolutely perfect place at an exceptional price and I look forward to staying here again.

Quaint and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at the cottage during a horse show at Canterbury instead of a hotel. The kitchen is very well equipt. Beds were comfortable. Water was hot. Personally I loved it. My 12 year old liked the loft but those stairs are steep so just be aware of that.

A simple rustic cottage with a country feel.

Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

Tom and I enjoyed our stay at the cabin again this year. The weather was a lot different this year but we still enjoyed the farm animals and the green grass and sun. It's so peaceful and quiet. We did get a few rides in on our motorcycle which we love to do.Rob and Tracey the owners were great they checked on us a couple of times as there were some chilly nights and wanted to make sure the heater worked. We did get an awful wind and rain storm early one morning and lost power but Tracey informed us that it would be on soon. Now we are back in Vermont with the snow and cold. We hope to stay again in the future

Great

  • 5 of 5

Thank you dor letting us stay .This place is so wonderful peaceful and quiet I love animals so for me nothing else matter. Love the cat who was the first one to greet me as soon as we arrived , if you love animals this is place you need to go it was wonderful hearing roosters early in the morning reminded me of my hometown in Europe .I am definitely recommending this cottage for someone who is just trying to sit back and relax by fire pit and watch horses. The only thing I did not like there was no Trail on the property to walk around,, you had to go off the property to a dirt road and walk around where there's loose dogs that will chase you 😕? it happened to me on first day and we didn't even thought of going again..

It would be great if the owner would make a trail around the property so people can walk and watch the animals instead of going off the property ..this is definitely NOT a complaint it is just a suggestion, it would be great to come back !
