Charming barn-style cottage on a 20 acre family farm in north central Florida, just west of Gainesville.
The cottage is on our family farm and has a nice view of rolling pastures. It is a 1 bedroom/1 bath cottage that sleeps 6 -- 8. It has a queen size bed and a full size bed in the bedroom and a full-size sleeper sofa in the alcove. It has a fully equipped kitchen, a living room/dining room and 1 bathroom with a separate double sink area. There is a small storage loft in the bedroom. The cottage also has wireless internet, local t.v., a DVD player and DVDs, and a washer and dryer. It has a fenced yard with it's own entrance. Linens and cookware are provided.
We are located between Newberry, Fl and Trenton, Fl, 22 miles west of Gainesville, Fl. It is a quiet, convenient place to stay when visiting the University of Florida. We are only 5 miles west of the Easton Newberry Archery Center and Canterbury Equestrian Showplace. We are close to the Nature Coast State Trail (cycling, walking, horseback riding) and there are many springs in the area. We are 48 miles from Cedar Key, 53 miles from Ocala, 99 miles from St. Augustine/Crescent Beach, 128 miles from Disney World and 20 miles directly west of I-75.
The cottage is located on a farm. We have three horses, a small herd of miniature Zebu cattle and a flock of chickens (both hens and roosters). We also have a few farm dogs and cats. It is a great place to get away for some rest & relaxation and sit out and watch the stars at night!

After moving to north central Florida to attend the University of Florida, we decided that we loved the area and wanted to stay. Eventually we purchased property and turned it into a small farm.
Rob & Tracey Francis purchased this cottage in 1999
Our family loves living out in the country and the area has some rolling hills and a nice view. It is quiet and peaceful and at the same time, close to many attractions and a convenient distance to Gainesville.
We built the cottage for visiting family, but it isn't used much, so we decided to make it available as a vacation rental. It is a great place to stay whether you're traveling to the area for sports events, to visit the University of Florida, or just to spend some time in the country!
The home was easy to find. The drive was lovely. The inside was clean and neat and pretty roomy for just 2 of us. The upstairs loft was a nice touch for kids or shorter people. Double sinks in the bathroom, tub and toilet were clean and worked great. Kitchen was small but quaint and well-stocked.
The bedroom had 2 double beds. I would have preferred a queen bed but our bed was comfortable. ACs took a while to cool but worked well.
The farm was cute but the main house is close and visible. Some more vegetation would give more of a private feel
We fed a horse and met a couple adorable mini cows and saw some ducks. That was a nice change of pace.
The price was reasonable and the home was pet friendly.
The wifi was free but slow. It was adequate for a night.
A hot tub would make it 5 stars.
Affordable, clean and peaceful place to stay with Your loved ones. Many things to do in surrounding area...but if You just deciding to sit on the front porch of the cottage, You'll find it pretty "entertaining" .
This is a charming cottage, approx. 960 sq. ft with 2 bedrooms, a loft for the kids, front room, kitchen, full bathroom and laundry room with a washing machine and dryer. It is situated on a ranch comprised of 30 acres with horses, cattle, a couple of proud crowing roosters and clucking chickens, the silkies are very entertaining to watch scurry around the property. There is a small pond for the geese and ducks who display some entertaining quacking. We watched the cats stalking through the grass and some dogs who just want to lounge around the property. There is a small front porch for lounging during a beautiful day or watching the sun rise and set. I found 2 tortoises slowly meandering around the area and the horse pasture. The owners house is next door and we were able to come and go as we pleased to explore the area with complete privacy. Gainsville is an approximate 30 minute comfortable drive for shopping well known stores, family and high quality restaurants plus other areas of entertainment for families and a reputable medical center just in case. We would highly recommend this property as the price is so affordable and a picture is worth a million memories, remember your camera, relax and enjoy!
Upon arrival the kids where very excited! From the swing set in front yard to all the farm animals! Very cute and comfy! We fed the houses apples and ate outside! Pet friendly is always a plus for us! Great accommodation for us!
We enjoyed our stay in this rural cottage. It's welcoming and peaceful, with great views from the porch of the property's pastures and horses. The cottage is a good base for day trips - we particularly enjoyed a trip to Cedar Key. The owners give you your privacy but are nearby if you need anything and we were visited by one of their friendly dogs. We'd recommend the property for those looking for a relaxing stay.
I stayed at the cottage with my three sons and their girlfriends. We were able to grill out and sit by the campfire after visiting the local springs for three days. Wifi was very spotty and cell phone service was worse, but it was nice to get off the grid for a few days. The location is rural (be prepared for some dirt roads in the area) but charming. The horses in the pasture were adorable. Grocery & town was about a ten minute drive. The cottage has a fully stocked kitchen with pots, pans, dishes, etc. so we ate in the entire trip. There is a washer and dryer which came in very handy after the springs. I would HIGHLY recommend the cottage for anyone who wants some peace and quiet and to have time to reconnect with loved ones in a rural environment.
