About the property

Off-grid Luxury Glamping! 1 Bedroom, 1.5 Bathroom, Sleeps 5

The Cliffhouse is a very special place. A 1,000 sq ft cabin atop a mountain on 40 acres over looking Lake Broken Bow. Surrounded by 6,000 acres of National Forest and US Core of Engineer land.

The locals describe the view as 'the best view in all of McCurtain county - period'.

Unparalleled hiking, mountain biking, bird watching right from your doorstep. .

Also Check out the Summit House opening in May 2016! >>VRBO Listing #807469

The Cliffhouse is entirely off-grid. We make our own power, water, hot water, and have our own septic system. Be 100% green and still have all the luxuries of home!

The Cliffhouse has one queen bedroom downstairs and a 350 sq ft queen loft bedroom upstairs.

The upstairs loft is accessed via ships ladder and has breathtaking views over the lake.

There is a full bathroom with shower and a half bath, both downstairs

The 600 sq ft deck faces the lake and has incredible panoramic views.

Max occupancy is two couples or a family of five.

The Cliffhouse may not be suitable for children under ten years old. (ladder)

Access - The Cliffhouse sits 5 miles off the highway and is accessed by US Forest Service roads. Its a beautiful drive, but you will need a car with some clearance and a bit of driving skill to make it in. We often times see white tail deer, turkey, and birds of prey including red tail hawks and various owls. The first 2 miles of the drive is easy, you can drive 25 mph. The remaining 3 miles is slower and requires some attention. You will cross 4 or 5 small creeks on the way in. Water is rarely more than 4 inches deep. There are also grades up to 12% on gravel roads.

There is cell phone service at the Cliffhouse. Verizon and AT&T works best. Sprint does not work at all. There is a new Verizon 4G LTE tower across the lake, we have seen speeds up to 15MB from the deck.

You will need to bring your own entertainment for the Cliffhouse. No cable TV planned for the near term.

ATVs - Seasonal riding is allowed on the surrounding US Forest Roads in May - Sept 15. However you need to review ALL the rules very carefully and follow them closely. No two up riding unless machine is specifically designed for such. All kids under 18 must wear helmets. STAY ON THE ROADS. No alcohol. The local rangers enjoy enforcing the rules to the last letter. Its possible for a group of riders to rack up several thousand dollars in fines......

About Debbie & Andy

Andy and I love to travel. We have been to many places such as Canada, Mexico, Hawaii and all over the US. We discovered Broken Bow, OK in 2007 when we began Boating and ATV'g. We instantly fell in love with the area. It quickly became our dream to own land inside of the National Forest. We realized our dream April of 2012. Andy and I immediately began construction on our cabin we call The Cliffhouse. We wanted to share our dream with everyone else as well. We invite to come out to The Cliffhouse. You will feel rejuvenated, relaxed and glad you came. Please give us a call or email us with questions.

Debbie & Andy purchased this cabin in 2012

Amazing get away!

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our time at the cabin. The views of the forest and lake are amazing. It rained most of our trip so weren't able to explore a whole lot or hike to the lake, but we still enjoyed it. Sitting on the extremely comfy couch and watching the rain through floor to ceiling windows was great. The rain took a break and we were able to enjoy a sunrise over the lake. Able to relax on the big deck and lounge chairs for a bit as well. The roads leading in are rough, but nothing bad. Even after a few days of rain, my 2wd truck made it out without a problem. Andy checked on us and made sure we were doing well and needed anything during the trip. We will definitely be back!

WHOA!! It was a journey beginning with following the precise directions to the cabin provided by the owners. There is something special about this cabin and how many families and couples have visited, all having spiritual and enlightening experiences. Book the time, let go of your electronics, go horse back riding, hiking and unwind. Magical is the word that best defines my stay with my wife. Great communication and support from owners and the accommodations are perfect.

Off grid!

If you are looking for a cabin to unplug from life this is for you! This cabin is tucked away deep in the forest. I highly recommend renting or using a 4WD vehicle to get here. It rained before and during our stay but I felt better knowing we had a vehicle that could take the mud and creek crossings required to get here. My kids 9 and 6 loved the cabin and the views. This cabin has everything you will need for a relaxing stay. Bring your food and a 4WD vehicle and you will have a vacation to remember! The cabin owners were GLORIOUS and communicated quickly. We can't wait to come back!

Cliffhouse snow covered mountain view simply incredible!

  • 5 of 5

The wife and I took advantage of a rare couple of nights that were not booked at this gem of the Kiamichi Mountains totally off the grid Cabin. The owners were very accommodating to say the least. We drove up from Longview , Texas and hit the snow line about at the Red River. We were in fact chasing the snow. The location of the Cabin had received about 4 inches of snow. We arrived after sundown so all we could see in the distance was Broken Bow Lake off in the distance. As the sun broke over the mountains the next morning, our expectations were soon realized as the splendor of mother nature reveled herself in a blanketed winter wonderland. We cooked breakfast and then donned out winter coats for a short hike around the property. Walking in the snow , making fresh tracks of our own we soon found tracks from the animals that call this area their home. I am a country boy so it was easy for me to recognize the deer , rabbit and coon tracks left in the snow. The highlight of the trip as far as animals are concerned was when we spotted a Bald Eagle flying out towards the lake. The Cabin is on the high end level. We enjoyed and will cherish every minute we had there. Go there and see for yourself. You will not be disappointed. Be prepared , take your drinks, food to cook, and plan to just be there. Why some folks rent a place like this and then leave it for hours to eat a pizza is bizarre to me. Everything is there to enjoy your stay as far as linens and Kitchen is concerned. Andy, from me to you........I have to say your concern about our safety with the weather conditions make me not wonder but to know you are good folks. Laura and I hope to make the trip back soon. Until then keep the place clean, natural and thank the good lord above for our short visit to paradise!

Beautiful cabin with beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

I went as a getaway by myself and loved it. The views were great. I got to experience the cabin in all different climates: a clear night that allowed me to see the stars so clearly, an amazing sunrise with a clear day, and a rainy day that brought in this amazing fog. I was very skeptical about the roads by some of the reviews but I enjoyed the drive in through the forest. I'm a sissy when it comes to doing something out of my norm but this was nice to get me out of my comfort zone. Most of the time you are driving along side a creek/stream of water with the trees all around you. I had a jeep with 4 wheel drive and enjoyed getting it dirty with the mud :). I have Sprint service so all I could do was text when I was on the hill and I was completely okay with that. Nice break from social media and the noise of the big city. Would stay there again for sure! Andy was always checking up on me and making sure everything was to my liking.

very good stay

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed the very remote mountain top cabin. Games and books were provided in the cabin. Everything worked well in the cabin. The view was wonderful.

However, the loft bedroom was dangerous to get to by a vertical ladder. I would recommend the cabin to two people who don't mind sharing the downstairs bedroom. We expected a larger cabin, but it was fine. The roads to get to the cabin were in bad shape. Even the 'white gravel' driveway was no longer white, instead red clay. It was moist when we arrived making the clay slippery. 4 wheel drive vehicle is highly recommended.

Owner's Response: Lisa, thanks for the feedback, we are glad you enjoyed your stay. Longer term we do have a plan to improve or replace the ship ladder up into the loft. Same for the roads, we have spent a great deal of money improving them, and they are way better than they were in 2014 or 2015. But could still use some work. We constantly strive to do better. We plan to grade the Cliffhouse final driveway in February. The US Forest roads leading to our property are more difficult. We do not own them and permitting is required to make changes..... Best regards
