Thank you so much for a great place to stay for our family golf weekend. Everything was to our expectations. Clean, fresh and everything you need for a fun weekend at Red Feather Lakes. We can't wait to go back and will definitely be looking to stay at the Mountain Golf Retreat!
The place was excellent and very comfortable. Everything we needed was there. Highly recommended.
Townhome Stay- Golf Club Fox Acres, Red Feathers Lake, CO
Our family's stay at the unit was for 4 nights July 18-22, 2018. We usually retreat from Oklahoma's hot July weather to Taos, NM but the Carson National forest closure caused us to try something further north on or just out of the drought fringe in Colorado. In 2011 I took a great motorcycle ride on Highway 14 along the Cache La Poudre River from Fort Collins to Walden. Remembering this trip, I searched for a place in this area of Colorado as an alternate July 2018 family retreat and discovered the Red Feathers area and the townhome thru VRBO. So it was our first time to this area and we enjoyed the visit even though the weather was warmer and the fishing slower than normal due to higher than normal temperatures, around 55 F at night and 85 F during the day , but much cooler than the 110 F back home the same week, did have two late afternoon showers which were incredibly pleasant. Even in these more extreme heat conditions the stay at the townhome was very pleasant, opened the windows and enjoyed great sleeping conditions every night. This is also a wonderfully quite place and dark enough to enjoy a brilliant star show right out of your bedroom window. The neighbors were friendly and relaxed which was appreciated considering the parking is limited and their accommodations made this a non issue. The property is gated as well and the security folks were equally helpful and friendly, providing a secure area for us to park our ATV trailer. The Red Feathers area is beautiful but far less services than Taos, this can be a positive, Fort Collins was only 45 minutes away and we spent a shop till you drop morning in Old Town wrapped up with lunch and margaritas at the infamous Rio Grande restaurant. Although scenic, the Red Feathers lakes are not really amenable to fishing in my opinion, we stuck primarily to the Cache La Poudre River (son landed a very nice 14 inch native Brown Trout; just beautiful). My son and his wife also enjoyed exploring the area by truck and ATV with one exciting encounter with a large bull moose, got a nice video. I rate the townhome and owner as excellent, we all felt the unit greatly exceeded our expectations which were pre-set at a fairly high level. We have not stayed in a vacation unit which was better equipped or cleaner, period; everything worked !! I would not hesitate to go back for another stay. My family does not play golf, but the golf course looked beautiful. Recommend detail area study before your trip.
This is a very nice property in a great location on the golf course.
