Converted farmhouse with 6 beds, 1 acre of private ground and stunning 12m pool

Described by one of our very happy guests as 'Portugal's best kept secret', this rustic farmhouse is a secluded get-away set in beautiful countryside. Nature lovers, birdwatchers & walkers may be drawn to the area in cooler months. In the summer, the private pool & easy access to un-spoilt beaches provide the perfect ways to relax.

The house has beam ceilings, red tiled floor, white walls & has been renovated using local materials such as slate & marble. It sleeps 6 people. 2 double bedrooms,1 bedroom with bunk beds. The thick stone walls keep the cottage cool throughout the summer months & there are oil filled heaters & an open log fire and a stove for the cooler seasons. Free Wifi connection available.

The large (12mx5m) saltwater pool has decking at one end with large canopy & a seating area complete with small fridge, cold water shower, power points & bean bags. The pool can be lit at night. There is 1 acre of private ground with a beautiful terraced garden & fruit trees & 2 large south facing terraces

The grounds: The two large south facing terraces have beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. One of the terraces has a shaded area and can be used as an outdoor dining space. There is also a BBQ.

Ample parking for cars to the side of the property. The path from the cottage to the pool is by way of steps and so is not suitable for people with mobility problems. The property is also not ideal for toddlers due to steps and a few drops.

Fabulous house

Talegre is everything you could want in a holiday home. Beautifully maintained, very well equipped, cosy and warm with lovely gardens and a stunning pool. This was so enticing that we even braved the cool clear waters in March!

Talegre is surrounded by lovely walks through cork groves and meadows and is of course near to some fabulous beaches. We enjoyed exploring in such a great place.

Britta and Paul were so friendly and helpful and made us feel most welcome.

We have already booked to return to Talegre in the Autumn.

So thank you Wolfram and Susanne for sharing your wonderful home.

Perfect for a peaceful holiday

Talegre and the area gave us everything we wanted for our 2 week holiday. The house is indeed secluded, with the peace and quiet only interrupted by the very occasional tractor and the local dog choir. We spent most of the time outside; the pool area is fantastic and the salt water just about warm enough for early October dips. The inside of the house was spotlessly clean and equipped with everything you'd need. Dealings with Wolfram went very smoothly and Britta, who looks after the house locally, was very helpful. The area is completely unspoilt - about 25 minutes to Milfontes along virtually deserted roads, with lots of good restaurants and beaches. Highly recommended!

Talegre Stay September 2015

Me and my family have been going to Talegre for the last 2 years and we intend going there whenever we can.

It is situated just outside São Luis, and also just 15km from the Vila Nova de Milfontes.It is situated in the woods, and one feels asif you are on a farm. Just the sound of nature around you.

The house is very well kept with quality utensils. Decent beds (No noisy beds) fireplaces (No need in the summer), updated bathrooms and a kitchen with all one´s needs. No outdated utensils.

Our favorite part is of-course the swimming pool area. we are a family of 5, and we have 3 kids. They love the pool. Water is always nice and the water quality is always right. Thanx to Britta who comes in 2x a week and takes care of it. The pool area is exceptional. First of all, the relaxing area has a sort of carribean feel to it. Bean bags and pool chairs where one can relax the whole day, and what is also nice is that it has a small bar area, with a fridge and a basin. We spend most of our times at the pool. Having the fridge there, keeps us there. No need to always go into the house to fetch drinks. What is also a positive, is that we can receive wifi at the pool. (Just plug the wifi extender in at the pool area for a very good signal).

The outside is also well looked after, alot of big trees and my favourite is the fig tree. Always has alot of nice sweet figs. Atleast whenever we go there, end august

I would, without a doubt suggest Talegre to anyone who wants to come and have a lovely quiet holiday, especially when coming with kids. Believe me, your kids would rather want to stay at home, than going to the beach.

Erholsamer und entspannter Urlaub mit viel Sonne

Als erstes möchten wir (Ehepaar aus Berlin mit zwei Töchtern 16 und 13) uns bei Britta (Housekeeper) und den Besitzern bedanken… wir habe zwei sehr entspannte und erholsame Wochen in einer sehr schönen und abgelegenen Umgebung in einem 100%ig der Beschreibung übereinstimmenden und sehr sauberen Haus verbracht.

Nach 5 sehr schönen Sommerurlauben in diversen Fincas auf Mallorca sollte es 2015 Portugal sein… entsprechend können wir auch beurteilen, dass hier in diesem Haus die Inneneinrichtung top war… es fehlte an nichts (außer dem in der Beschreibung stehenden Trampolin im Garten).

Sehr positiv empfanden wir die Housekeeperin Britta, die gerne Fragen beantwortete, aber sich trotzdem immer dezent zurück hielt, wenn sie 2-3 mal pro Woche nach dem Rechten sah. Das haben wir auch schon GANZ anders und völlig nervig erlebt… auch der Besitzer gibt sich die größte Mühe, beantwortet im Vorfeld und auch vor Ort per Mail gerne Fragen, es existiert ein sehr guter Ordner mit Tipps etc. und auch das Deposit Geld war innerhalb von Tagen nach dem Urlaub zurück auf unserem Konto verbucht.

Der Ort selbst ist ein wenig "Wildwest"… trotzdem bekommt man das Nötigste und man sollte ruhig die eine oder andere Kneipe mal auf ein Bier antesten…

In Sachen "genialster" Strand sollte man/frau sich an Britta wenden - der von ihr empfohlene Strand war traumhaft und auch für Surfer sehr geeignet… liegt ca. 20 km vom Haus entfernt…

Unbedingt mind. einen Tag Lissabon einplanen! Eine wirklich traumhafte Stadt!

Hervorheben möchte ich noch den relativ großen Pool, den schönen Garten und die gleich zwei Örtlichkeiten um draußen zu Essen (incl. gepflegtem Weber Grill).

Alles im Allem gab es kaum etwas zu bemängeln und ich könnte mir erneut einen Urlaub dort vorstellen… haben das Haus auch bereits unseren Freunden und Bekannten empfohlen.

P.S. das für die kids "lebensnotwendige" WLAN funktionierte perfekt.

Beautiful, secluded house with fantastic pool

We enjoyed the house, the garden, flowers and of course the pool.

The kids and we really enjoyed this great pool. At the pool you can lie back in the beanbags. And very nice with a refrigerator at the pool. The house was fully furnished and clean. The house remains cool. You can eat under the porch.

Directly from the house you can make beautiful walks on sandy paths. If you love peace and nature, we can heartily recommend this house!

Situated in a quiet location off the beaten track (quite literally its 600m down a dirt track!) the property offers an ideal environment for a peaceful, relaxing holiday. This is a part of Portugal which is almost untouched by tourism. Shepherds still roam the hillsides with their flocks and cork from the cork oaks is collected in the traditional way.

Although this is a rural location there are some superb unspoilt beaches within 20 to 30 minutes drive (some suitable for surfing & body boarding) . Vila de Nova Milfontes is 20 minutes by car.

Freshly baked bread, locally grown fruit and veg can be bought in the village of Sao Luis, 3 mins drive away. For a larger selection of shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants there are the small towns of Milfontes, Cercal & Odemira 15 mins drive away. Tennis and horse riding available in Sao Luis.

A car is essential to appreciate this unspoilt corner of Portugal. Beja 1hour, Lisbon 2hours, 45mins to nearest Algarve beaches, Faro airport 1.5hours
