This apartment is in the centre of historical Krakow , the exceptional location by the river makes staying here a real pleaure. It has been recently renovated and the decorative style is simple and fresh.
It is ideal for 2 but sleeps maximum 4, using the divans in the sitting room and dining room.
There is one double bedroom with a brass bed and a lovely view of a monastery garden,
The spacious dining room and sitting room are separated by large double doors and have original oak parquet floors.
The kitchen and the bathroom are off the central hallway. There is under-floor heating beneath the black and white tiles.
The kitchen has a fridge with freezer compartment, half-size dishwasher, half-size washing machine, double sink, ceramic induction hotplate and Dualit mini-oven/grill. The kitchen is well equipped for four.
The bathroom has a shower, heated towel rail, toilet and marble-topped sink.
Culture in Krakow: Krakow is wonderful city for music and festivals, including Jazz, Independendent Film, Photography, Folk Music, Jewish Culture and Contemporary Music. The apartment is well situated for the Philharmonic Hall and the bars of Kazimierz where you will find Klesmer concerts. There are six independent cinemas within walking distance, English language films are shown with subtitles and there are regular showings of classic Polish films with English subtitles.
Delicious Food: Krakow has an amazing range of good restaurants but what I most enjoy is going to the Old Market and finding what is in season , for instance Polish Asparagus in April and an extraordinary range of mushrooms in October. There are always stalls of sheep cheeses, homemade butter and farm-yard eggs.
I came to Krakow to visit where my father was born and I fell in love with it!
Rebecca Meitlis purchased this apartment in 2006
When I found this aprtment I knew it would be a wonderful place to stay and explore Krakow and the surrounding hills and mountains. I also go there to find a peaceful place to work when I have some writing to do.
It is a very special location, surrounded by greenery and the river yet in walking distance of all that is wonderful in Krakow
This apartment was perfect for us, in a lovely location by the river, and walking distance to each of the many sights/sites we visited. It was larger than we needed (we're a couple), but we appreciated the spaciousness though we rarely used the living room. It could easily accommodate 4 people, with one day bed in the dining room and another in the living room. Rebecca was helpful to us during the booking phase, and the information she provided on the apt., local markets and restaurants, and transportation was useful. We would definitely rent Rebecca's apartment again!
The flat is perfect for visiting Krakow - central, full of light, overlooking the park and river, well equipped and comfortable.
This is a very spacious, clean, tastefully appointed flat very near the castle. It is sparsely decorated but has everything 2 people would need -- lots of seating actually. It has very large windows with transoms that let in extra light. It was cold when we were in Krakow, but we were warm in the flat. The bed and bedding are really comfortable. (Note that the bed is a double though.) I didn't need the iron or hairdryer, but if you do, look under the bed! The bathroom is cleverly designed with mirrors surrounding the sink so you can be close enough to put on makeup and also see the back or your hair. I loved waking up to the view of the castle and walking out to the dining room to look out on the river and observe how warmly the passersby were dressed. The location is scenic and safe. There are 2 very good spots for reading -- in bed and in the livingroom -- excellent lighting in both places. The kitchen is really cute. We didn't use it much, but it was good to have it. I thought having a washing machine would be a plus, but I decided not to try to figure out how to use it. We don't drink tea, but I noticed that there is a drawer of it! It's a short walk from the flat to the main square, where there are many restaurants, and it is also convenient to Kazimierz. We have 2 recommendations for restaurants closer than the square. We had one of our best meals at Pod Baranem, which has a lovely atmosphere, excellent food, and helpful waiters. We also had breakfast a few times at City Lunch next to Hotel Senacki. City Lunch doesn't get good reviews for lunch, but we loved the breakfast. I cannot say enough good things about Discover Krakow for tours and airport transportation. They can serve as your concierge if you are nervous about not having the services provided by a hotel. Rebecca was a wonderful host -- very helpful and responsive to my questions. I recommend this flat very highly and hope to stay there again in the future.
Everything the other reviewers say is true! You arrive at a 1920's apartment block with graffiti on the walls but once inside everything is calm and stylish - above all no clutter. From the sitting room windows you look onto a park and the river. From the bedroom window you have a cluster of church buildings and greenery. It's quiet yet the excitement of the castle gates and the bottom of Grodska St. is only 5 minutes walk away. In the other direction lies the intoxicating buzz of Kasimierz, packed with cafes and restaurants. We'll definitely be back and will stay here.
A perfect base for a stay in Krakow! Very nice location - close to the old city center, the park along the river and the former jewish town.
The owner is very helpfull, and the appartment is well equiped in all matters.
This is a very well situated apartment overlooking the river and within easy walking distance from Wawel Castle and Wajda's Japan Centre. Everything has been thought thoroughly with excellent guidance for practical concerns as well as cultural pleasures. The facilities are excellent and easy to use. It was very comfortable and warm even when we had snow! In Summer I imagine it cool and airy with its genourous windows. I would most definitely recommend it without hesitation to anyone who wishes to visit the charming and extremely interesting city of Kraków..

The apartment is situated at the foot of Wawel Castle with a view across the River Vistula in the front and the Bernadynska Monastery garden at the back, the apartment, in ul. Smocza is perfectly situated for short stays in Krakow (ul. Smocza means Dragon Street, as the castle was built over a Dragon’s den!) It is a 15-minute walk from the Main Square and 10 minutes from Kazimierz, the old Jewish quarter. There are paths for walking and cycling along the riverbanks and pleasure boats run in the summer. Krakow is just as wonderful in the winter especially if it has snowed, the Christmas lights stay up until early February making the evenings even more magical. In October/early November the Planty is golden with autumn leaves.
Other Activities: Lots of Music , Jazz, Classical & klesmer
