Powderhorn lodge, the most distinct and recognizable accommodation in the European-style Solitude Village. The village is an intimate ski-in/ski-out community where the slopes are literally steps away. Lift tickets, ski equipment rentals and repairs and ski lesson sign-ups are on the bottom floor of the building. Everything you need for the perfect stay is close at hand.
Solitude Mountain Resort is conveniently located a short drive by car or shuttle service from Salt Lake City International Airport. This four-season vacation destination is known for its unusually long Alpine skiing season, opening in November and closing in April. This ski-in/ski-out resort averages over 500 inches of Utah’s lightest and best powder snow per year, has over 1200 skiable acres accessed by eight chairlifts and 64 trails with over 2000 vertical feet of elevation. Solitude also has a fine Nordic Center. With Solitude Mountain Resort as your accommodation, you can easily drive to Utah’s other close by fantastic skiing areas, Brighton, Alta, SnowBird, Park City, Deer Valley and Canyons.
The village is home to Club Solitude, an exclusive members-only (free to Powderhorn guests) area that has extra entertainment for everyone. Its pool is well-heated and includes two hot-tubs and a waterslide. Indoors, the Club boasts a pool table, foosball, a theater room, four Xbox 360s, board games, and two computers with printer and internet access. It also has men’s and women’s saunas, a fitness room, and a spectacular great room with fireplace and library.
We had a very pleasant experience overall. It is so nice to be able to wake up and walk to ski lifts. Everything is close by (ski shop, ski rental, restaurants, skating rink, club house with heated pool and jacuzzi).
There are a couple of things, however, that we did not like and I hope the owner can address in the future:
- The mattresses are very soft making it hard to sleep on.
- Bathroom sink was clogged and shower curtain needs to be changed.
- Wi-Fi access was spotty. I constantly had to reconnect.
- Lock combination did not work so we could not keep our skis in the locker room (this could have been easily addressed by contacting the owner, we just did not bother to do it but perhaps the owner can take a notice).
Nevertheless, we really enjoyed our stay and would come back again. Thank you!
Hi Gil, The condo was perfect, comfortable and lovely! We all had a wonderful time. I am sending you the green parking pass back #003028 to Powderhorn Lodge Condominiums, Solitude, Utah 84121, to the attention of Gil Avidor. We will mail it to you today at the above address.
Thanks so much for your lodging and we hope to return soon and would love to stay in the Powderhorn Lodge again in the future.
Best Wishes, Don Dahlstrom
We loved this condo! It is in a PERFECT LOCATION very close to ski slopes and two restaurants, a bar, and a ski shop. It was well stocked with plenty of bath towels, paper towels, kleenex, dishwasher detergent, soap, toilet paper, etc... It was VERY CLEAN and in great condition, and has keyless entry. The owner was very easy to work with. There is a ski rental place in the same building, and having access to Club Solitude was fabulous for our son. The den where he slept doesn't have a door, but he did not mind at all. There is underground parking and a ski storage locker. Honeycomb Grill was great and so was the Stone Haus Pizzeria. The resort was not crowded at all in early April. We will DEFINITELY be back!
This property is in a large building in the ski village of solitude. I did not really understand the layout (either did my gps on my phone) and was a bit confused as to which building we were going to and how to get in. We ended up parking and walking around till we found the front door. The front door, with the Powderhorn name was a walk to, not a drive to so be sure you know where you are going.
The condo itself was very nice. It was on the second floor, in a nice location. The back has a small deck. Their are lit trees out back and it is very charming and beautiful in the snow.
We used the hot tub one night, but if the pool was open, i did not see it. Maybe the pool is seasonal?
The condo is well stocked and there are some condiments and such left that are nice to have. We prepared our meals and had everything we needed. It was quiet, which is very important to me. The extra bed in the "den" is better than a hide a bed but it is really just an area between the bedroom and bathroom. The way the condo is laid out the alcove is tucked away enough that you can be in the living room and not bothering anyone sleeping.
The price was better than others I looked at in the area. That is why this condo is fully booked, when others are empty. If you are staying in solitude and have a small family this is a good place to book. I believe this owner has a larger property here as well.
Solitude has some nice beginner and intermediate runs at the bottom of the mountain. The top is more difficult but some nice skiing!
Great place in the Powderhorn building. Easy slope access. Ski & board rentals in the same building. Solitude covered with steep groomers and endless backcountry. Wide open midweek. I must have skiied 40 runs on a Thursday. About 35 minutes from the airport. Sure beats the chaos in Park City.
