Nestled among tall plantation pines and fronting a scenic, serene lake, Amity Cabin invites you to enjoy time away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Situated on a 400 acre plantation pine farm, Amity's guests enjoy the beauty of the land, the bounty of its 35 acre well-stocked lake, and the peace and quiet of a private farm. Whether looking for well-earned R&R, planning a hunt for whitetail deer or turkey, enjoying our lake for your own fishing pleasure, attending a rousting MSU sports event, golfing at near-by Old Waverly, 'pilgrimaging' in Columbus or Aberdeen or just wanting to kick back and do nothing, Amity Cabin is the perfect country destination.
A completely renovated sharecropper's cabin, Amity blends modern comfort with cabin life. Sip your morning coffee or evening refreshment relaxing in a rocker on Amity’s wide front porch. Watch the sun wake up the day; wrap yourself up in the beauty of Amity’s sunsets. Answer the lake’s call to fish for crappie, bass or bream. Grill your morning catch for dinner and for dessert? Roast marshmallows in the outdoor chiminea for delicious s’mores. We even provide you with some firewood.
Step inside Amity. The front door opens into the living and dining area complete with a 40” flat screen TV and DVD player. Amity’s kitchen features all new appliances including a dishwasher, plenty of counter space for family meal preparation, pots, pans, dishes, eating and cooking utensils – even a fresh roll of paper towels. Don’t want to cook? Let us do the cooking: we have yummy catering available.
End your day in one of Amity’s two bedrooms. Select the king bed in one or grab a bunk or the queen bed in the other bedroom. We supply all of the linens and a basket of blankets for cooler evenings. The living room sofa opens into an extra queen bed for two more guests. The new bath has a tub/shower combo. Don’t worry about bringing any linens: Amity has plenty.

A missionary kid turned physician met a native Mississippian on the internet -- and the rest is history. When we married, we consolidated households and moved to the country. Anam Cara, our farm, (Celtic for 'soul friend') has been our home since 2006 and we enjoy the expansive 400+ acres, the natural beauty of the Lake (Amity is situated across the lake from our home), and the glorious trees that surround us. Amity was a broken-down cabin when we purchased Anam Cara. Recently we decided to renovate it to share the serenity and beauty with others. Many guests have already experienced the beauty and serenity that surrounds Amity Cabin. We hope you will enjoy it, too.
Elizabeth purchased this cabin in 2006
Mississippi is our home! When we first glimpsed Anam Cara, there was no question that this is where we wanted to live. Amity Cabin enjoys all of the beauty and tranquility of Anam Cara, and now we can share both with new friends.
To borrow a phrase, Amity Cabin is a little piece of heaven for those who enjoy the tranquility and beauty of country life. Whether rocking on the front porch or enjoying the comforts of the cabin itself, friends will find a place where they can relax and just be themselves.
This was our second trip to this lovely cabin in the woods. It is away from but yet close to everything. My wife and I love the entire experience again. Even though we arrive late the owner call and text to make sure she was there for our arrival. We can't wait for our next trip.
The cabin and location are just as described and it was great! We enjoyed the lake and surrounding forest. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. Everything was clean and well-maintained. There was an abundance of towels, wash cloths and paper towels. Dulcy was a joy to work with and was quick to answer any questions. There is a boat available to enjoy the lake and we took full advantage of it.
We are tired of going to hotels so we have begun using VRBO for our travels instead. Our family of 8 was in town for a long weekend and Mississippi State football game. Starkville is about 45 minutes away, but the short drive was well worth it. We spent all day Friday on the lake and in the woods.
Fantastic cabin to get away from it all. Wonderful host who really took care of us. The best endorsement I can give is to say that we will be back again one day !
Firewood, blankets on the rocking chairs, charcoal ready to fire up, fresh cut flowers... The list just goes on. Great little cabin on a lake. Dulcy is great to work with..such an easy relaxing stay!
We had a great time! The cabin was clean and had a very homey feel to it. We were also able to catch a ton of bass from the lake and have a huge fish fry. Dulcy was an awesome host. She went out of her way to make us feel welcomed and was quick to answer any questions that we had. I highly recommend staying here for a weekend getaway.
cabin was quiet and perfect. fresh linens, towels, blankets, wood for chiminea and charcoal for the grill. Dulsy is incredibly sweet and must have lived a prior life as a hospitality or event planning superstar. I would not have changed a thing about my weekend stay at the cabin. be aware that if you are attending MS State games, it is about a 35 minute drive but a simple one and well worth it in my opinion. successful fishing in the mornings was an exciting added bonus! Also had trails amped for our use at the cabin but couldn't squeeze any trail walking in the weekend. Great trip!
