About Doug and Gloria Stuart

Gloria and I came to Homer in 1981 from Long Island New York. Our first three children were born there and our two adopted kids were born in Alaska and came to be ours in their infancy. We have had a busy 32 years of raising children, Doug working on the North Slope for ARCO Alaska, commercial fishing and more recently working for the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge as a Naturalist on the State ferry Tustumena traveling from Homer to Dutch Harbor over 120 times. We've built a smaller home out of town to be near our children and grand children. We have loved our 'town house' and have wonderful memories of our years spent here. It's a very comfortable home from which to enjoy and 'take in' all that Homer, Alaska has to offer. Please see our expanded link to see many more pictures and our special free amenities we would like to offer you.

Doug and Gloria Stuart purchased this house in 1989

Why Doug and Gloria Stuart chose Kenai Peninsula

As soon as we stepped through the door with our realtor, we immediatly fell in love with 292 Mountain View Drive. It was huge compared to our homestead trailer out of town. It had bedrooms for all and a view that has awed us for 27 years besides having three levels so that children and adults can gather together or separate for entertaining. The benifits of living close to but not next to all the amenities a large, growing family needs was wonderful. Gloria and I feel that not only your needs but all your vacation wishes will be met here also.

What makes this house unique

As large as our house is it has the warmth that makes everyone feel they've come home! We know you will feel that way too. Doug and Gloria Stuart

Spent 2 weeks in this nice house with this great view of the Mts and the Spit!

  • 5 of 5

We were one of four couples and this home was almost perfect for the eight of us. Two couples left after one week, so then we upgraded from single beds to a queen, but the beds were all great and the view is awesome and everything was very convenient. We walked down to the shops and back up and drove over to the Spit. We really enjoyed our stay and the homemade jam that was there to welcome us.

Thank you so much for choosing us to host your stay in Homer. Please know that you will always be welcome. We are back here at 292 for the winter and our view is breathtaking isn't it!! Have a good year and holiday season. Doug and Gloria

This house was fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

The view from this house is beautiful and the owners made our stay "extra special" with fresh cut flowers both up stairs and down stairs along with fresh baked bread and jam that was wonderful! We had a party of 8 with beds to spare. The house was very clean and very comfortable. I would highly recommend this house to everyone.

Thank you again Doug and Gloria for making our stay in Homer "extra special"!

We have owned 292 for close to 30 years and raised all our kids in it. It truly is a special place. Gloria and I love sharing it with folks like yourself who take such wonderful care of it. Please come back anytime in the future. You are ALWAYS welcome!!!! Doug and Gloria

Very nice, homey and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Stuart's home in beautiful Homer Alaska. It was perfect for our group of 4 couples. The view of Kachemac Bay from the deck was gorgeous. The location is in a quiet neighborhood, the morning stillness broken only by the Sandhills Cranes roaming the lawn. The home is well stocked, plenty of paper products and kitchen items. The house was nice and clean, exactly as described in the photos. We used the grill to prepare the delicious halibut and salmon, freshly caught on Reel Fun Charters. The owners were very accommodating, always quickly responding to our email questions prior to our arrival. We had a very enjoyable stay here. The fresh flowers, bread and delicious jam on the counter when we arrived were delightful. We would not hesitate to return to this home, if we ever have the opportunity to return to Homer.

Experiencing the Beauty of Homer

  • 5 of 5

This home has a fantastic view of Homer Spit. It's the tail end of Homer jutting out towards the water. It's okay, I laughed too when I was told it's called Homer Spit :-) Breathtaking view at night when the full moon was shining on the water (probably the darkest nights we had in the entire trip). The interior of the home is gorgeous and you can tell the owners take pride in their home. We had a group of 12 spread out between bedrooms on two floors.

If you are looking to rent a home in Homer, this is the ONE! Highly recommended.

Yes we have a lot of pride in how folks react to our home. We have loved every minute of living at 292 Mountain View Drive. It has always had a certain special feeling to it. Gloria and I really enjoy being able to share this feeling with many of our great visitors. Please come back any time!!! Doug and Gloria

Great House for Groups and Views

  • 5 of 5

Our group consisted of 4 couples and the set-up was perfect. The kitchen and eating area allowed multiple folks to prepare and eat. Everything we needed for meals was available (including the complimentary jam and bread). The house was very clean and easy to use. After a week long cruise, the laundry facilities were a godsend. Lastly, the views of the bay were fantastic - reading on the deck til late in the evening was enjoyable. We did not even turn on the TV during our stay. Would strongly recommend this to families or groups of friends who need a base for exploring the Kachemak Bay area and Homer.

Beautiful Kachemac Bay views and stunning home.

  • 5 of 5

We really appreciate being able to stay in Doug and Gloria Stewarts Homer home. We used it as a launching site for a Halibut fishing trip for 8 adults and 4 children aged 14,12,10 and 7. The home is beautiful, well stocked and well appointed. The only drawback would be only two bathrooms. The complimentary jam and homemade bread disappeared very quickly.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review. Gloria and I were so glad you stayed with us and would like to thank you for taking such good care of our house. We have given much thought to adding another bathroom but due to the layout of our home it would mean losing a bedroom. Most of our clients appreciate the fact that we have 5 bedrooms and room to spread out so we decided to keep the 5 th bedroom. Thanks again for your stay. Doug and Gloria
