About the property

2 bedroom ski apartment in Les Collons village 1800m by main resort facilities

From the master bedroom you can open your eyes and see the Matterhorn. You can take in the view and tranquillity without feeling or being cut-off. Magical for a couple but also perfect for good friends or a close family, with enough resources to feel comfortable. The second bedroom has bunk beds and further pull out mattress beneath if you have three children. (An additional mattress is also there if you really want to squeeze in little people - a baby cot is also under the bed in the master bedroom). Duvets and pillows are provided. Bed linen and towels can be provided at extra charge. The main living area is open plan, and incorporates a lounge area, dining area and stylish and fully equipped new kitchen, with dishwasher, microwave , oven etc. There is a large corner sofa, which doubles as a sofa bed or movie buff zone, with the flat screen TV and range of DVDs, PS2 and iPod docking station. All the rooms open out onto the large balcony with table and chairs and a gas BBQ and the morning sun, but mainly its the impressive 180º views of the Val d’Herens across to the Matterhorn or across towards Crans Montana and Rhone valley. With the ski shop and locker next door and the ski bus stopping right outside, life couldn't be easier for the skier. Tourist information next door is great all year and you can roll in and out of the local pub, without being disturbed by it! It's an all round superb location for those who love the mountains at any time of year but with easy access to Geneva or Sion and the Valais. BOOK EARLY FOR 2018.

Why Claudia Johannes chose 4 Valleys

The great view surpassed any other we had seen in the Alps. We had searched in France and Bulgaria and we never found a two bedroom which was so well designed and such a great view, even though it is slightly smaller than we originally looked for we loved it as a lock up and leave pied a terre for the mountains. Being ground floor and near the shops we also thought we could be old here, even though we are some way off retirement!

What makes this apartment unique

Not so many apartment blocks have a small pool and sauna in the basement so high in the mountains, that's an added benefit which the kids in particular love.

The place is very accessible - you could, timetable dependent, and more easily child free, get to the apartment on public transport if you really had to.. the Sion bus stops virtually outside and the train station in Sion comes from Geneva or Milan.. and being only 20 minutes up from Sion, makes it quite useful if you don't like a long transfer.. which I don't personally like too much on windy mountain roads .. so that's very civilised in my view!

Family Ski trip to Les Collons Feb 2016

Claudia, we enjoyed a wonderful trip to Les Collons this year, and your apartment was absolutely perfect for us. It comfortably housed all five of us, and was well equipped, warm, homely and in a fantastic position.

Our only minor issue was the lack of wifi, as we were unable to link in to any of the surrounding networks including the ski shop.

In all other respects the apartment suited us very well and we had a great holiday. Many thanks!

Super apartment with stunning views

We had a fantastic week in the apartment. The apartment is really well equipped - the kids loved the bunk beds in their room, and all the board games in the apartment made for much fun. The swimming pool in the basement is lovely and much time was spent in there.

The location is superb with stunning views of the Matterhorn. The tourist information and sports shop are right outside, with a supermarket and nice restaurants (especially la luge pizza restaurant) close by. The location is great for mountain biking and walking as the apartment is right on the trails.

An incredible break in an incredible location

We had an amazing week at Claudia's apartment. The area is incredibly beautiful and scenic, and the apartment is really well equipped with every possible thing you could need to enjoy the week. We had the pool to ourselves on the many visits we made to it, and it was beautifully clean and nicely maintained. The view from the apartment and from the pool is incredible, and there is so much to do in the area!

There is a massive selection of leaflets and brochures from which we chose many days out and enjoyed them greatly. There is a lovely restaurant at the end of the terrace (La Maya) which we dined at, with great service in several languages. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property, and we will definitely be back!

A cosy apartment with the most amazing views!

The Apartment was very clean, beautifully decorated and had everything we possibly needed for our weeks stay.

We arrived at the apartment after night fall, after a long winding drive up the mountain… I wouldn’t recommend this if its your first attempt at mountain driving! We had planned on arriving during day light, but we were enjoying Lake Geneva too much and then the hire car sat nav took us an interesting route! The next morning, we were woken by the sound of two cows moo-ing in the field just below the apartment. We then pulled up the shutters and couldn’t believe the view!

Our Children loved their cosy little bedroom with their own toy cupboard which they made good use of! They also loved the adventure play area just behind the tourist office.

The tourist office staff spoke good English and were helpful. On our first day we walked around Thyon and then took the cable car to Veyzonnaz and back. We didn’t find the day thrilling but it was a good introduction to Switzerland. On our second day, we drove to Siviez and then took the chairlift from Siviez to Tortin and then waked back to Siviez. Would highly recommend this walk, especially as its buggy friendly. We strapped our toddler to us using a baby carrier for safety in the chair lift. On our third day, we drove to Evolene and got the chair lift up from Lana to La Meina. The chairlift was double the length of Tortin and rather rickety… but had nice views of a few glaciers at the top. Evolene had a nice play area for children behind the school, after which we walked by the river with stunning mountain views behind. We also walked around La Gouille, which was 20 mins further south than Evolene. It had waterfalls and another river reached by climbing carefully down the hill. The next day we drove to Leukerbad and did the buggy accessible dala gorge walk. We had very little time in Leukerbad and wish we’d have had longer there, it really was beautiful. The rest of the time we stayed locally in the village, or drove around Lake Geneva.

Would definitely recommend the apartment as long as you have a car! Thank you Claudia for all of your advice before and during the holiday!

A very well-appointed apartment sleeping 4 in comfort with a view to die for.

This region is absolutely stunning. Les Collons is 1800m above sea-level, Thyon is 2000m, the Matterhorn sits at 4478m. Compare that with the highest Welsh Mountains at just over 3000ft! You need a reliable vehicle and/or a good pair of legs to get around.

The area is idyllic at this time of year for hiking and mountain biking. The meadows are teeming with wild flowers. I couldn't believe the numbers of lupins growing wild. Cows with their traditional bells are to be seen feasting on the lush grasses.

The Tourist Information Office (TIO) right next to the Belvedere puts on activities most days of the week. You can, for example, take a guided walk along the Grand Bisse de Vex, or bus out to the tallest gravity dam in the world at Dixence with a tour of the dam followed by a 5hr walk back. Mountain biking is becoming more popular with a tour guide available via the TIO. Lifts are operating in various locations and some will take bikes up.

Sion is about 30 minutes drive away. Here you can walk around the historic part of the town or browse the shops in the new area. Small supermarkets in the industrial area of Sion just before the initial ascent into Val d'Herens are good for the weeks shop as Les Collons is a little limited & expensive.

If you enjoy the outdoor life this is a must. The only negative (at this time of year) is that it's quiet, i.e. not much night life.

I didn't know what to expect but I came back smiling. It was a wonderful holiday. Many thanks Claudia.

Vacances ski

Nous avons loué cet appartement pour la 2ème année consécutive. Nous avons passé un magnifique semaine. Beau temps, belle neige, magnifiques conditions pour le ski. Appartement très bien situé avec une très belle vue et une piscine. A recommander ... nous reviendrons.

Les Collons is located in the French speaking part of the Swiss Alps, just 20 min drive from the capital of Valais, Sion. The village of Les Collons is on three terraces (1800 m, 1850 m, 1900 m) and is a skier's heaven, being directly linked to the four valleys ski domaine. In the summer, Les Collons provides a sunny and peaceful base for mountain biking, walking, climbing, via ferrata, horse riding, golf and much more.

Valais is a beautiful and exceptionally sunny region in the south-west of Switzerland that boasts 50 mountain summits over 4000 m high. Home to the highest gravity dam in the world (the Grande Dixence), Europe’s largest navigable underground lake, the natural phenomena that is the pyramids of the Euseigne, the longest glacier in Europe (the Aletsch), the first alpine heritage region in the world (as designated by UNESCO) and of course it is the heart of Switzerland’s largest vineyard.

Golf: Valais is a natural paradise offering unrivalled views of snow-covered mountain peaks that has become a favourite destination for golfers from all over the world. Ski: The region offers an enormous variety of winter sports from the extreme to the peaceful catering for adrenalin junkies and families. Thyon/Les Collons is a skiers and boarders dream with access to the Four Valleys and 410 km of pistes, including breathtaking descents from Mont-Fort and the world famous Piste de l’Ours, venue of twenty five world cup races. The area is also an off-piste skiers dream with infinite powder to explore and a snow park for the more adventurous. Visitors can ski to Verbier in just over an hour but there is plenty of skiing and boarding to be had locally, with much less queuing. There are both ski hire shops and ski schools in Thyon & Les Collons.

Ski School: ESS provide ski / board lessons and shops are located in Les Collons & Thyon.

Ski hire: Theytaz Sports is also located in les Collons.
