Quiet place with an excellent view.....We had a really great time!
Thank you for everything
You never know what you are going to get when booking through an online site such as HomeAway. However, with Villa Ionis our expectations were greatly exceeded; honestly, the photos don't do it justice, it looks much better in our opinion.
We stayed here for 2 weeks and it was hard to leave. The view and atmosphere is great, pool clear and sunrise is astonishing. The villa is well equipped with all basics, a nice kitchen, bbq grill and pool accessories.
Mike and Joan are very welcoming and are just the nicest warmest people. They took care of our every request and really made us feel at home.
As we pulled up to the villa we just knew we had made the right choice for our get away from it all holiday. The views across the country and out to sea were spectacular and the villa itself was a delight. The location was perfect as we wanted peaceful seclusion, but with good restaurants, beaches, walking, etc, within easy reach.
The gardens are beautifully designed and planted and offer plenty of options for both sun and shade lovers. The pool was fab and all you can hear when lying out on your sun lounger are birds and the occasional bleat from the local goats. Lunch on the shady terrace next to the kitchen and sundowners on the sitting room balcony rapidly became much loved rituals.
We ended up spending far more time at the house than we planned simply because it was so relaxing and comfortable. But when we did venture forth we found plenty we liked. We had been concerned that by mid October there would be few restaurants open, but, in reality there were still many great places open (year round we discovered) in this part of the Island. We enjoyed a fabulous boat trip to the Blue Caves and Shipwreck Beach. The sea was still wonderfully warm and it was lovely to come down to Agios Nicolaos (the nearest small town) for a swim at the beach and a coffee or meal at one of several very good restaurants. In particular the food and small private beach at Nobelos Bio Restaurant were a real find and the staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. We also loved La Storia at the corner of the harbour where there was always a great welcome and atmosphere, good food and plenty of helpful advice on local activities and attractions.
We had followed the owner's recommendation to stock up at the supermarket on the way up from the airport (several good supermarkets to choose from) and the small local shop in Agios Nikolaos supplied all the essentials and were happy to order meats and specific items for next day delivery when needed.
Overall we had a fantastic holiday and are very happy to recommend Villa Ionis. We will definitely be back for another visit.

Ionis Villa is the ideal place for relaxation and a perfect base from which to explore these beautiful islands.
