About the property

Lae Nani 231 is located on Kauai's beautiful coconut coast. The unit overlooks the pool, lawn, beach, ocean and majestic mountains. We are located on the top floor in a corner end unit, which affords ultimate privacy. Panoramic ocean views are available from the living room, dining room, kitchen and lanai.

Complete renovation finished Sept. 2013. Living room and dining room accented with bamboo crown molding and tiger wood floors. Kitchen and entry floors have inlayed travertine borders on porcelain. The kitchen is equipped with brand new stainless steel appliances including refrigerator with ice maker, dishwasher and stove. Also includes new stainless steel cookware, coffee maker, french press and electric kettle. The counters are finished in magma granite.

Master bedroom is carpeted with premium carpet. It is appointed with a king bed and new 14' memory foam mattress and fine linens. The queen size sleeper sofa is equipped with a plush bed mattress (5 star on amazon). All interior doors are solid teak, plantation style.

Rainforest marble counters in both baths and inlayed marble on travertine floors. Master bath has large shower lined in travertine and decorative tile. Built in bench and hand held or stationary showerheads. Luxury towels provided.

Smart TV's are located in both living room and bedroom. State of the art wireless high speed internet enables streaming of Netflix movies without buffering. 2.1 sound bar in living room also allows you to stream music from your bluetooth device. Also available is a Bose sounddock 10 in the bedroom.

The lanai is furnished with a bar height table that seats four. This allows for an unobstructed view over the railing. We have also provided a large cushioned chair and ottoman which is perfect for relaxing and reading or just enjoying the magnificent surroundings.

The sandy beach allows easy access for swimming, boogeyboarding, or just floating in the warm waters of the Pacific. Most often safe but can be dangerous when surf is large. The 'keiki pool' (children's pool) is surrounded by lava rock to create a shallow natural pool with a sand bottom., a safer spot for the little one.

This unit is walking distance, on the beach path, to the famous Hukilau Lanai restaurant. It is also a short walk to the Coconut Marketplace which offers eateries, galleries, boutiques and a convenience store.

Some onsite conveniences are coin-operated laundry and gas operated barbecues. Lighted tennis courts and heated pool. These amenities are all exceptionally well maintained. The grounds are immaculate and lush with many local varieties of flowers and plants. Kauai is truly the 'Garden Isle'.

Lae Nani is centrally located on the east shore just a 30 minute drive to the north shore, Princeville and Hanalei Bay. Poipu beach is 30 minutes to the south.

Hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, surfing and Golfing areas are abundant. Waterskiing and wakeboarding are also available on nearby Wailua River.

Please be aware that there is no elevator.

About Stephen Childers

We have been coming to Kauai for the last 30 years, the same number of years we have been married. We are both native Californians, living in north Monterey. As a surfer of 50 years, I have to admit that most of our trips were surf trips. There remains many places left on Kauai for us to discover.

Stephen Childers purchased this condo in 2013

Why Stephen Childers chose Kauai

We were looking a properties in Poipu and Princeville for some time as that is where most of our friends live. But upon seeing the listing photo of this property(the bay view from lanai) we immediately made an offer and purchased it. We have been on island many times and stayed at quite a few places, but we like Lae Nani the best. It's not just the spectacular views or the beautiful grounds but also the serenity of the location. The Heiau (ancient Hawaiian Ruins) on the point in front, the sound of the surf thoughout the day and night is just magical.

Also, everything you need is nearby.

Quiet, beautiful beach front property

  • 5 of 5

Lovely clean condo. Very comfortable bed, good ventilation (no need for AC, even during warm September). Grounds are just as pictured, pool clean and perfect temp for swimming or lounging.

Owner and local property manager very friendly and responsive.

Well Appointed Condo with Excellent Views

  • 5 of 5

Lae Nani 231 is a very nice one bedroom condo on the third floor (sleeper sofa if needed). The lanai has a great view of the pool, grounds, ocean and mountains. Basically a view of all things Kauai. The location is in Waipouli which is a bit south of Kapaa. Kapaa is a bit far to walk but there are a few things within walking distance if that is important to you. For us, we were on the go most mornings so not a big issue. The location is excellent for driving south to Waimea Canyon and north to the Na Pali coast. Both areas are "must dos" so the central location is very convenient and about a 45 to 75 minute drive either direction.

The condo overlooks the pool and the beach which is beautiful. The beach is small but doesn't have many visitors. We used that beach as much as any beach on the island. The wading pool is nice for young children.

The condo is tastefully decorated, has all the amenities as to the kitchen appliances, beach towels, floats, etc. There is no washer and dryer in the condo but the laundry room is a very short walk. Quarters are required but there is a change machine so not having a washer/dryer in the condo was not an issue. One caveat is the lack of air conditioning. We had a relatively warm week so that was the only negative. However, our last night was more normal and the temp in the condo was very comfortable.

Stephen was great to work with and very accommodating. Overall, we definitely recommend Lae Nani 231.

July Stay

  • 3 of 5

This condo is very tastefully decorated and we liked the high-top table and chairs and ottoman on the Lani. We also liked to sit at the counter, separating the kitchen from the living room.

You will need to purchase toilet paper, paper towels, soap for the two bathrooms, sponge to wash dishes, and laundry detergent. We suggested providing some of those items and tennis racquets, a drying rack for clothes, a scale, and welcome basket with note and a few items from the island.

As other reviewers have mentioned, you will need to walk up three flights of stairs to the unit. Also, if you want to do laundry, you will need to walk up and down the stairs and over about 4 buildings; the walk isn’t far but will require you to go up and down the stairs a few times.

The landscaping is meticulously kept and the grounds are very clean. There was a large pile of wood chips and wood in the parking lot which was a little unsightly.

The unit overlooks the pool which can be noisy at times but did not bother us. The master bedroom was carpeted and is a bit dated. The bed was extremely comfortable. The unit was hot, very hot. However, the ceiling fans and floor fans helped. Not having air conditioning isn’t unique to this unit; none of them have air conditioning.

We were prevented from using the couch/queen size sleeper sofa equipped with a plush bed mattress as termites were leaving droppings on the floor underneath. We brought this to the attention of the owner who, unfortunately, offered no apology. He did tell me that it will be replaced within 5 months. Unfortunately, this did put a slight damper on our ability to enjoy our stay completely.

The unit is walking distance to some lovely restaurants. It is also a short walk to the Coconut Marketplace which, unfortunately, only has one restaurant (which is good) and just a couple of stores. The space isn’t be utilized at this time. A small farmer’s market is held there twice a week which was nice to walk to.

We did have a lovely time and enjoyed this condo for the most part.

Great trip, great condo

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time to Kauai. The trip was great as was Lae Nani 231. The condo was exactly as described and pictured. The owner cares about his property and was easy to work with and helpful.

Quiet, peaceful -- just what we were looking for.

Fabulous Place, can't wait to come back!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 5 nights in this unit and loved everything about it. This being our first time in Kauai, I was sort of guessing on where would be a good place to stay, we were in Poipu prior to coming to Kapaa. I think we hit the jackpot, with Lae Nani #231. Being an interior designer, I appreciated the Hawaiian themed decor as well as the thought that was put into the remodeling of the unit. We also enjoyed talking to other visitors in the complex and it was reassuring to hear them say they have been coming back to Lae Nani for years. I was a bit concerned about not having AC, as our previous place did. However, the unit is equipped with several ceiling and floor fans and we made it through just fine. The baby beach right out front was a perfect place for my 20 mo old son to play in throughout our visit. The grounds and surrounding areas are well groomed and clean, not to mention absolutely beautifully landscaped. One minor remark would be about having additional beach towels in the unit (there were only 2) and we were non stop at the beach. :) Kauai & Lae Nani #231 has definitely won my heart, and we look forward to future visits.

A lovely spot. Our favorite

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time to stay at Lae Nani 231. And, in some ways it was even better! All the things we liked about it the first time are still true, and in May the lanai has shade most of the day which is great for us old people and it also makes the living room and kitchen cooler. Everything is top notch and comfortable and lovely. The bed is wonderful. The view fabulous. We love being able to easily walk to three restaurants and to walk to the beach to swim.

The only downside for us is the stairs. We were blessed to have a young man nearby to help us with our luggage going down to the car. It would have been a major ordeal getting things down by ourselves. It's no trouble at all for the young and middle aged folks. But, if you are old or infirm, be aware this may be too much.
