The Forge and The Barn which face each other across 200 metres of beautiful garden, and each is a fully equipped home with all facilities including wifi and laundry.
The Forge has two floors with 6 bedrooms of 4 doubles (5ft3ins minimum) and 2 twin rooms; 7 bathrooms; kitchen; large utility room; cellar; two dining /breakfast rooms (one very cosy seats 12 persons, one very grand on the first floor seats 20); ground floor sitting/TV room; grand sitting room on first floor; sauna; and a wonderful outdoor patio which gets the morning sunshine. It also has a grand stone external staircase. All bedrooms have A/C and heating.
The Barn has a vast open plan kitchen/dining/sitting room, and four en-suite bedrooms with 2 doubles & 2 twins, plus a separate toilet on ground floor .
The estate consistes of 184 acres (74 hectares) of private valley parkland; large fishing lake and boat; 15mx8m swimming pool and pool house with bathroom; romantic wisteria clad pergola with barbecue and dining tables, plus a log bonfire pit with seating around. The outdoor dining area beside The Forge gets the morning sunshine.
Between the Forge and The Barn are separate buildings for the gymnasium, and for the exercise/dance/yoga studio with two massage rooms and separate bathroom above.
Chateau Forge du Roy is just a few minutes drive from the valleys of the Dordogne and Vezere rivers which have 147 UNESCO listed sites of prehistoric interest. The Dordogne region has many medieval villages and towns including some created by King Richard the Lionheart in the 13th century. Activities include golf, tennis, horse riding, canoeing, cycling, hot air ballooning, truffle hunting, prehistoric sites and museums, and walking in quiet countryside.
