What makes this chalet unique

We chose this home over all others in Moonlight because of the amazing views. We are situated on a unique slope, with no other homes in front, below or beside us which allows unobstructed views and ultimate privacy while enjoying the upper deck or relaxing in the hot tub below. It provides the feeling of being in a true mountain cabin while still offering ski-in/ski-out and walking distance to the lodge -- Amazing!!!

Amazing home with everything you need and more

  • 5 of 5

Our family could have not been happier staying at this home. The views are amazing and the house is beautiful, spacious and cozy. My wife and I both like to cook, we felt right at home with this fully stocked kitchen and pantry. We will be coming back to this home every year if possible.

Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

The home and location were perfect. We had a fantastic week, hiking, riding ATVs, rafting, cruising on a pontoon boat on Lake Hebgen, visiting Yellowstone...It was a wonderful family getaway. We'd like to go back in the winter, it looks like there are an incredible amount of ski runs and you can ski back to the front door!

Amazing Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family has never been to Montana in general, and to be able to find Big Sky, Montana as one of the best vacation spots to stay this trip was purly amazing. Upon searching many locations and houses to choose from our family was beyond thrilled that we made the right choice. We truly did not know what we were getting ourselves into and went on blind faith that we had chosen the right spot. Upon arrival we were amazed and astonished that this house was perfect and exceeded our expectations. The view is spectacular and every morning being able to wake up and see the mountains was perfect. This has to be the best house in Moonlight Basin to reserve anytime of the year. The pictures do not do the house justice becuase you are not able to see the depth and the detail that pictures cannot put visuals into words. We did have two visitors a deer and a red fox which was unexpected. If you are looking for a vacation spot that is close to Yellowstone National Park then this would be the best location for friends and family to meet. This location also provides access to Big Sky resort and all kinds of summer activities that both adults and children can enjoy. Becca went above and beyond to make our stay a home away from home. Our family shipped out fly fishing gear from Tennessee and she was able to help us coordinate the arrival and place the gear inside the house. If you are a fly fisherman this is the place you want to be. Over our duration of the trip we caught about 40 rainbow trout in 2 days fishing the Gallatin River. We will definitely be back and already miss the beautiful view.

Thank you for making our experience so memorable Becca.

Great house, disappointed with location

  • 3 of 5

The house was nice but we were really disappointed with the location, so much building work and construction in the area. We've stayed in a lot of homeaway properties and this one felt very overpriced. We couldn't sit outside or open windows without hearing construction trucks rumbling up the road, the constant beeping of reversing trucks. The road was a mess with a couple of giant potholes caused by construction vehicles. The photos don't show how over-developed the place is, not exactly the quiet mountain cabin we were expecting. The whole valley is cut up and marked out for many many more properties, and there are already so many high density condos already in the immediate area and directly in the view from the house (hint, photos of house have been cleverly staged to not show these). Sadly more like a city location than a mountain retreat, but great, I suppose, if that's your thing.

That said, the Gallatin valley is absolutely stunning, we had several great days in Yellowstone and hiking, rafting and zip-lining near by.

Owner's Response: Hello, I am Susan S., the owner of the home. The pictures displayed were taken from inside the home, on the upper patio, and at ground level. PRICING: In the June 2017, our home was priced at approximately $500 per night for 4 bedrooms 4 baths, with a mountain view (including all resort taxes and cleaning fees). The public hotels located in the heart of Big Sky, have an “entry level” rate for 4 rooms 4 baths, mountain view, (including all resort taxes and cleaning fees) beginning at $985 per night. Luxury rates at the Big Sky hotels are considerably more. LOCATION: Our home is located on the “slope side” of the mountain, at 8,000 feet. To access our home, you leave Mountain Loop Road (the main paved road that takes you up the mountain), drive about 250’ to the “private paved parking”, walk down a set of natural stone landscaped steps (about a 10’ drop), cross over the ski trail, and enter the home … AND are truly on the hillside slope … in the winter season, sledding down that slope … in the summer season, biking and hiking down that slope. The east side views from the home look down into the grandeur of a sloping valley and then upward to the mountains of the Gallatin Range, Spanish Peaks, and Andesite Mountain. The sunrises simply mesmerizes you. The south side view presents the beginning of the “biggest ski bridge in North America” and upward you view the peak of Moonlight’s “Lone Peak”. Step out the front door and you are on the biking, hiking, and ski trail. The west and north side presents itself where you started … at the bottom of natural stone landscaped steps and the ski trail / slope, with the continuation of the “biggest ski bridge in North America”. The slope is dotted with wild flowers, natural grasses, and sometimes little creatures … little kids, baby fox, squirrels, and if you catch it just right, deer and maybe a momma moose and her baby. Along the ski bridge / slope are private mountain homes and two luxury suite condos. CONSTRUCTION: Home and road construction at 8,000 feet has a “limited summer season”, and unfortunately roads must be repaired. The regulations have a defined “construction day” … 7:00am to 7:00pm, Monday thru Saturday. Regulation also requires a “beep warning” when trucks are backing up in reverse.

Another Amazing Trip....

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in Alpine Meadows for 7 years. This was the first time in this unit and it did not disappoint. Amazing views and incredible ski access make this unit in my opinion one of the best places to stay in Big Sky!

Perfect location and wonderful home

  • 5 of 5

The views are spectacular and are only exceeded by the accommodations. Ski in /ski out to a green run down to the Madison base. The amenities and furnishings rival the best hotels. They have every household amenity including hot chocolate mix. We plan on going back next year and in the summer.
