Tanglewood Villa was purchased in 2008 by Sharon and Terry, a couple from Calgary, Canada, as a vacation spot for them and their family. They quickly realized the potential of the property's location, and soon after began renting it out to others wishing to travel to the beautiful island of Roatan.
Terry Yanke purchased this villa in 2008
The beauty of the island of Roatan, coupled with the friendly people and exceptional diving and snorkelling made the decision to buy here easy for us. Also, the country is very open to foreign ownership and the prices to live, buy, or rent on Roatan are very appealing.
The local people of Roatan are very friendly, most speak English and are very helpful to tourists, making a stay in Roatan a very enjoyable vacation. Extra benefits of our home include a full security system for your added peace of mind and a UV water purification system making all the water throughout the house safe for consumption.
We could'nt choose à better place to live!! It is safe clean, good location, good management service.it got everything you need.verry short walk to everything. we ejoy eating at the shaman café, the thai, Chili grill and good cofee at porque no.we will be back for sure
We truly enjoyed our stay at Tanglewood villas. Great location with a short 5 min walk to beach. Our kids loved the huge pool which is very close to the villa. Great place for anyone looking to stay in West end. The property management team at RPM were very helpful with anything we needed.
My husband and our two kids rented this condo for 1 week in April 2015 (immediately after Easter). We had good communications with the owner and the management company and generally everything went well. The condo is very large and very clean and in a convenient location (you don't hear any noise from the street, although you are at the base of a steep hill, with the occasional fast moving car or motorbike, so be careful when walking in the street). The kitchen is well stocked, the beds are comfortable and the furniture is nice. The best part about this condo was the amazing and huge pool. We generally had it to ourselves, it's well maintained (but old), and it has lots of seating in both sunny and shaded areas. There were a few problems with the condo. First, the lighting is utterly inadequate. There was no light over the dining table. There were no overhead lights in the bedrooms -- just a few small table lamps. The lighting in the kitchen was insufficient for cooking. Also, when we were there the grill was not working properly. I assume that's been fixed by now, but you should check. Also, and this is the most serious issue, the door to the deck did not have a lock. (Or a proper doorknob.) It literally was closed with a piece of string. The management company was far too blasé about this, telling us to pull it tight and put the string under a piece of furniture to secure it. The door made us very nervous whenever we left the house and at night. Considering the high crime rate in Honduras (or, frankly, even without the crime rate) that's not how a deck that faces the street and is easily accessible to passersby should be secured. We were disappointed that the owner or the management company did not inform of this in advance (apparently this door had been broken since well before our stay) and did not have any solution for securing the door other than to pull it with a piece of string. (We tested it, and no matter how tight we pulled the string, anyone on the deck easily could get in.) Nothing happened to us, of course, but the owner and management company should have at least installed a temporary door knob and lock while they waited for their custom handle and lock to arrive. I'm sure this will be fixed by the time you rent this condo, but no harm in double checking. Overall, we'd recommend this condo to others, and we'd give it 5 stars if the grill is fixed, the door is fixed, and it had better lighting.
We recently returned from a fabulous 2 week girl's get- away in Roatan. This villa was just as it was portrayed and more. It was clean and well supplied with everything from beach chairs, umbrellas, candles, coolers, books- everything you need to make you feel at home. The location was perfect. In 5 minutes you could be on the Main Street with all the shops, restaurants, bars, churches, or just dangling your feet over the dock to watch the beautiful sunsets! And yet at the end of the day you could be back in the quiet peacefulness of your villa away from all the night noises of the street. The snorkelling was incredible- the best was at West Bay Beach just a short water taxi ride away. The shared pool was also very enjoyable for cool offs in the afternoon or evenings and a chance to share adventures with other villa guests! Roatan is a beautiful little island and a great place for a holiday. Thank you Terry for sharing your villa with us!
My boyfriend and I vacationed here for a week, but to be honest we wouldn't have left if our flight home hadn't been booked.
The villa was extremely clean and modern, and it was so refreshing to have all the home-like amenities plus a few upgrades (the shower was HUGE - a really nice touch when you rinse off about 3 times a day!)
Being so close to everything was perfect, as dinner and shopping were only a few minutes' walk away. The owners have indeed thought of everything (thanks for the flashlights!) and it was really nice to feel so safe with the alarm system.
We have told everyone who will listen about Roatan, and we are trying to find another couple of friends to come back down and stay with us at the villa!
Having been to Roatan 7 years ago for a weekend I wanted to return and spend more time. I went back for a week with " the girls" and we had a terrific time. Terry, the owner was very helpful in answering all of my questions before my trip. When we got there, Fran and his management company were amazing in helping with any other things we did. We even had Loretta come to the condo to make us a home cooked authentic meal. The condo was in a terrific location at the end of West End set back from the beach . Knowing that many of the accommodations could be " rugged" it was so nice to come back to a home that had all the modern conveniences after being on the beach all day or snorkeling. The condo was beautifully decorated in a Carribean style.
Nestled in the heart of West End, this villa is the perfect haven for travelers and islanders alike! This oasis is located a 20 minute drive from the airport and mere steps away from the beautiful beaches that grace Roatan's shoreline. An abundance of tropical fish and marine life attract divers and snorkelers from around the globe, and the local cuisine is superb yet extremely affordable!
