Cozy and bright 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom cottage
My husband and I live and work in the DC area. We both grew up in coastal New England and missed being by the water. We often traveled to the Eastern Shore and during one visit we fell in love with Tilghman Island. After several hotel stays, we decided to rent The Roost, which happened to be for sale... and the rest is history!

Why Owner chose Tilghman Island
Tilghman Island is a unique and quiet town surrounded by water. It is one of the last working watermen's villages on the Chesapeake Bay, and the perfect destination for boating, kayaking, fishing, long walks, and exploring nearby towns and villages. Historic St. Michael's, with its great dining and unique shops, is just a 15 minute drive.
What makes this Cottage unique
We love the peaceful and convenient location of The Roost. In the mornings we watch the boating activity in Knapps Narrows and the marina from the sun room and living room. We spend our days on or near the water and exploring the area. In the evenings we walk to restaurants by the bridge and enjoy the bay views. We often drive to St. Michael's or Easton for shopping, museums, and restaurants, but we always look forward to returning to the house. Our children love visiting the Phillips Wharf Environmental Center just down the street where kids (and adults) can learn about the environment by getting up-close with bay critters.

Dog lovers need apply
My husband and I were looking for a vacation rental that would accommodate us and our 2 dogs without a huge fee or major restrictions (the pet rules that the Roost does have are totally reasonable and didn't impact our stay at all). They even include a pet gate, which was a great addition since one of our dogs is a total escape artist. We had a fantastic time checking out the town of St. Michaels, kayaking, eating ourselves silly at local restaurants, and just generally being able to relax for our first vacation in years. The house is very comfortable and clean, but feels lived in, not impersonal like a hotel. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others looking for a quiet stay where they can bring the WHOLE family, not just the people.
Great spot....nice to be out of St. MICHAELS.
What a gem!
The books on the shelves alone make this the perfect summer get away. My only regret was that we weren’t able to stay longer!
The cottage was exactly as advertised. Luisa was very responsive when we had questions. A few starter items would have been helpful - bottled water, coffee and milk. This would have avoided a grocery store run. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
Great cozy cottage
Great location, perfect for our family of five with room to spare. Luisa the owner is very friendly and flexible. We’ve stayed twice and would recommend to anyone on the island!
Lovely Cottage on Tilghman Island
Wonderful place. Clean and well maintained inside. Cozy feel but not small. Loved the large bedroom upstairs. Wish we had more time to relax and read a few of the books in the owners incredible collection on bookshelves throughout. Luisa was great, very helpful and responsive. We had a wonderful 5 day weekend.
