We choose to live in this peaceful place in the heart of Tuscany and we want to share it with travellers our life choices and love for nature.
The property is the result of 20 years of investment in the recovery of ancient buildings with original materials in the traditional rural area of Tuscany and Versilia in particular. Ancient stone walls, floors and ceilings in terracotta and exposed chestnut beams give the house a charming character of old times to provide an unforgettable setting. In their garden centenary olive trees offer discreet protection for your relaxation moment, like wise old men listening to the summer breeze that rises from the sea to the hills.
Very well restored house with beautiful, huge, main bedroom. We did not need the second bedroom, which was also very well decorated .Great views of countryside. Well appointed kitchen and lovely big garden with shared pool. The house was clean and well maintained. Lucio and Paola were very helpful, with tips for visits to the surrounding area. Lucca and Florence easy to reach, both with lots to see. The five hill villages recommended by Lucio were very interesting, the best being Bolgheri.
We had a wonderful week at 'La Torretta' - the house was lovely, peaceful and comfortable with everything we needed! The kitchen was very well-equipped and we ate almost every meal al fresco. It was a great size for two couples; enough space and privacy for all. The covered patio, garden and pool were beautiful, perfect for relaxing. All in all, a terrific base for exploring the area. Paola and Lucio were gracious and charming hosts. We only wished we could have stayed longer. Thank you!
We had a fantastic stay here - it has everything you could possibly want and more. The house is very well appointed, it's decor is classic and well done. The house has acces to a great swimming pool, a wonderful outside eating area which is secluded and comfortable - with an excellent BBQ. The kitchen had everything that was needed, the rooms were very comfortable. All in all an excellent place to saty, cannot recommend it enough - the owners were very helpful, they arranged to meet us in the local town on day of arrival, showed us key places (like supermarket), we then followed them to the house itself, they had also arranged for us to eat at the local restaurant the first evening - all very helpful. The owners were on hand if you needed anything and also made some great suggestions for places to see and visit. Lucca is a must, make sure you have time to find a peach farm - superb fresh fruit. Make sure you take your mossie creams, but overall a fantastic place for a wonderfully relaxed stay - see if you get to see the chap taking his owl for a walk; yes I am serious!
This is a lovely villa, comfortably and stylishly furnished. There is shaded outdoor dining area and the pool is excellent. The nearby area is quiet.
Paola and Lucio were extremely helpful, meeting us in the nearby town of Camaiore when we arrived and providing us with a welcoming Pasta salad the next day.
We had a relaxing and happy holiday and hope to return next year.
The four of us - my parents, my husband and me - stayed in the Villa Toretta in May 2016 and really enjoyed it. The house is very well equipped from hair dryers in every one of three bathrooms to the spices in the kitchen. We used the BBQ in the garden twice, had breakfasts outside, relaxed by the pool (though it was not quite warm enough to go in) and also had a good time sitting inside in the comfortable living room when it was too cold to sit outside. The bedrooms are spacious, the beds are huge and and the separate bathrooms to each bedroom were very convenient.
We ate at both restaurants of Pieve de Camaiore; and enjoyed the smaller one (where they spoke practically no English but you get by) the most. Good food at relatively low cost and a very friendly atmosphere. Both are in walking distance, about 20 minutes away on foot.
The rest of the time we cooked at the villa; you can buy provisions at the small Conad supermarket in Camaiore but most of the time we did our shoppping at the larger Coop about ½ hour away on the outskirts of Viareggio.
Luccio gave us excellent recommendations about what to see and do in the area: the Cinque Terra at the coast, the old town of Lucca and so much more. If you are into walking, there are a large number of trails in the area and one even passes by the front door of the villa. We also visited Carrara and its marble mining as a bad weather option.
The villa is well situated for exploring the region but you definitely need a car to get around. The villa has its own car port, so parking is no problem. The narrow, winding roads in the area are not for the faint-hearted though!
We definitely recommend this accommendation and would love to come back and stay again some time.
