My home seamlessly blends the conveniences of modern life with the grand fit and finish of a by-gone era. Conveniently located in the Village walking distance to all the restaurants and shopping, yet only a short drive to the best swimming holes, golf, hiking and bike paths.
My home is currently for sale at Four Seasons and may have a showing. The rental income pays for itself!
This turn of the century masterpiece has it all! Enter off the driveway into a huge mudroom that accommodates all your equipment and gear. Round the corner and there's the bar and a cozy sitting room with a gas fireplace away from it all! Walk out to the back oasis patio and you feel as though your in Italy…beautiful perennials, back lit pavilion and green wall, piped music, a stone fountain and flowering vines create an atmosphere of pure tranquility. Alternatively, you can sit on the front or side porch and watch the action of Depot Street!
The main floor has a family room with a super comfy sectional couch, 40" HD TV and is open to the living room featuring a baby grand piano and overstuffed Ethan Allen classic sofa. Enjoy watching a fire in the foyer sitting in two swivel rocker chairs, perfect for an intimate conversation or just reading a book peacefully after taking a hot tub.
The gourmet kitchen is fitted with a 48' double Decor oven with six burners and sub-zero refrigerator/freezer and the 'real-deal' walk-in pantry. Enjoy your dinner in our dining room that seats 10 comfortably with a fully stocked built-in china cabinet, all surrounded by custom Birdseye maple wainscoting.
The second floor has a master suite, two bathrooms (washer/dryer) and three more beautifully appointed bedrooms. Access can be from both front stairs or butler stairs.
The third floor is where the action is; pool table, foosball and video game canter. Kids play and the parents chill. There is also a master bedroom with a King, a double bedroom and a twin bedroom. Plenty of floor space for overflow air mattresses as well. You can rent the house without these 2 bedrooms as well for a reduced fee.
This owner occupied home is lovingly maintained and filled with antiques and all the amenities and warm touches to make your vacation truly memorable!
We are the Crowley family. Moved (escaped) to Vermont in 1999 from CT. We bought the house as a ski place and as soon as we closed on the property a conversation took place that went something like this: 'Honey, if we have this big beautiful home in Vermont that is twice the size and 1/4 the price of our place in CT. why can't we just move?' So after this not-so carefully well thought out plan was hatched, I of course said: 'You don't have to ask me twice'. We sold our properties in CT and re-invented ourselves (several times, it's a Vermont thing) We own an environmental remediation company that services most of Vermont and parts of New Hampshire. We have an 13 year old that skis most of the time, even when she is supposed to be at school. You would do it too. Our 25 year old is in Alaska and heading for Hawaii in a couple of months.
Liz Crowley purchased this house in 1999
This home has a unique place in the history of Ludlow. It was built by Eli Ford in 1903. Old Eli was the owner of the general store here in town. As his fortunes grew Eli decided to build a showcase home. He pulled out all the stops and five years later this custom home was complete.
Shuttle to and from the mountain every 20 minutes. If you don't feel like getting the first chair, go back to sleep and you can catch up later! The best restaurant in Vermont is approx. 200 feet away (really). Walk through town, visit the shops and galleries. Send the kids to the pizza place around the corner. We can also offer personalized catering services. Lastly, we will offer a complimentary ride in the groomer with a seasonal rental!
We had a lovely group of guests stay for MLK weekend & they could not get over how beautiful our home was! They kept asking when they arrived "we have this whole house to ourselves?"! They enjoyed the third floor game room every night playing pool; it's so refreshing to have our guests rarely turn on the TV because they are actually interacting with each other!
My friends and I stayed at Liz's house for a ski trip weekend, and we had a great experience. The house was spacious, clean, and homey, and had everything we needed during our stay. Moreover, Liz was very helpful and hospitable in her communication. I would recommend this place to others and stay here again myself!
I recently stayed in this house with my extended family for a ski vacation. Everything about this house made it a great choice for us. THe bedrooms are as advertised as far as configuration. The house was charming and incredibly well equipped. Anything you could possibly need in the kitchen was there. There are great spaces for spreading out - for the kids as well as the adults. Everything was clean and in working order. The house is a short walk to bars, restaurants and shops. The ski shuttle is steps away although we drove to skiing/tubing and it is a very, very short trip. The house is beautiful - lovely woodwork and antiques, very comfortable and welcoming. The only problem we had was with parking more than 3 cars although I don't think this would be an issue without the snow.
My extended family and I recently spent 5 days in this property for a ski vacation. The house was wonderful. It was very well equipped, everything you could possibly need in the kitchen was there. It is very conveniently located - walk to shops, restaurants, night life. A quick trip to skiing, tubing, etc. DIrectly on the bus route to the mountain although we did drive every day since it was so easy. The home is as advertised as far as sleeping arrangements. The house itself is lovely - charming wood detail, comfortable, roomy, fun game room, hot tub, welcoming kitchen and sitting areas. The only issue we had was with parking more than 3 cars. I don't think this would an issue without the snow.
House was terrific. All beds were made and ready for our very late arrival, owner was extremely helpful in describing home and throughout the weekend with any question or need. The home is located in a great location, near mountain, walk to town or market.
The pics don't totally do home justice. The first floor is a nice mix of cozy and ornate with a surprising functional kitchen. The bedrooms and baths on second floor are great, master shower is a treat with overhead rain head and side jets, our daughters loved it! The third floor is a nice retreat for kids, it is a long way from first floor so you have to go check on little ones.
We were unable to ski do high winds and very cold temps. Thus we spent a ton of time inside. The house accommodated 4 adults and 6 children, ages 4-10, very well. We will def be back.
I (and the rest of my group) had an INCREDIBLE weekend. A large group of friends from work rented this home for a weekend away from the city and we had the best time! The house was perfect for our group and we made some great memories there. Between fielding all our questions, sending us to Jackson Gore, and welcoming us into their home we could not have asked for a better homeowner to help us!
We had a family group of 8 adults and 6 children and this house was perfect! It was convenient to the slopes with perfect morning views of the sunrise on the mountain as well as easy walking distance to the many bars, shops and restaurants Ludlow has to offer. It is a short ride to Okemo's base(5 mins) or you can take the shuttle right from the house. We stayed stayed for 6 nights and I wish we had more time.
The house has many different rooms to get together, including a great mudroom which includes a gas fireplace, bar and tons of room for equipment and jackets. The third floor game room was a great getaway for the kids and this house has tons of room!
Liz couldn't have been nicer to work with and can provide any detail to enhance your stay. I highly recommend this property, you won't be disappointed!
Situated in the charming Village of Ludlow facing Okemo Mountain, come and spend quality time with your family, fun in the snow for all ages and ski/board Okemo, Vermont's most family friendly mountain.
