About Paul & Rhonda Wayner

We are Commercial fishers of sockeye salmon by summer, pilot and accountant by winter. We were raised in Bristol Bay and many family members still reside there. We currently reside in Anchorage but are just a short airplane ride away from our Bearview House. By investing in our home town we are closer connected and have a place to call home away from home.

Paul & Rhonda Wayner purchased this house in 2013

Why Paul & Rhonda Wayner chose

The quiet is amazing. We are guilty of sneaking out just to catch up on sleep on occasion. We purchased the home for our commercial fishing operation in the summers and enjoy it so much we frequently return when space is available to visit friends, family and rest.

What makes this house unique

Bearview is adequately named. Previous owners reminisce about watching bears frolic in yard as they tossed around an old buoy they had in yard for decoration. The outside yard has room to run, and if you are lucky you will find some bear fur from bears scratching backs on perimeter area trees as they walk the trail behind the house to the river. Due to high bear traffic please be very careful about how you dispose of food items and do not leave food in vehicles. Bear proof garbage cans are provided.

Great Property, completely setup and ready to go.

  • 5 of 5

This property worked perfectly for us. It was completely furnished and ready to go, washer and dryer, dishwasher, coffee maker, comfortable beds, etc. Just like we were at home, except for the limited internet data of 10GB with HughesNet. This house is the only way to go to make the stay more pleasant in this rough and wild wilderness.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at the Bearview House. We truly appreciate the time you took to write a review for us. I understand the frustration with the limited internet issues. Considering we are located quite far from main lines of communication - internet is an issue and is very pricey to provide. In the future - you can request a higher internet plan and we are happy to accommodate at a higher rate. Most of our guests do not require larger amounts of internet data as they are too busy enjoying the area attractions.

Great house in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Rhonda's house is probably the nicest rental available in Naknek-King Salmon that I'm aware of. I travel to the area frequently for business and I've been gill netting in the Naknek district for 20 years. No place compares to this house if you're looking for a great rental.

This property is simply amazing.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed two days at this property after camping for 7 days at Brooks Camp. We wanted to relax and explore King Salmon and Naknek. We rented a car from Eagle Eye. Once we arrived at the house we really did not want to leave. It is absolutely beautiful, comfortable, and super clean. This house has everything you could possibly need. Rhonda was so helpful to us on our first visit to the area. Thank you so much Rhonda, we hope to come back same time next year :)

A wonderful stay near King Salmon, Alaska

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had a wonderful week fly fishing and bear viewing using this property as our base.It is very comfortable, clean and very well positioned to explore this fascinating area.

The fly fishing/fishing is the best we have ever seen.Silver Salmon and Trout fishing that we will treasure for ever

The house has every comfort and appliance known to man. There was nothing we didn't have in our own home.Rhonda went out of her way to make our stay a success. You will need to rent a car to explore this area. Naknek Auto were fabulous for a car rental.

We met fishing guides at a couple of lodges. After seeing the lodges we were happy to have stayed independently.

Big thank you to Rhonda, we will return one day soon
