Owner's Response: Dana and Margorie were excellent guests. They were very respectful of the property, and left the place in very good condition. They even made a special trip to return two towels which they had inadvertently packed when they left. Much appreciated. We would welcome them back any time.

Summer perfection! We'll be back.

We had an absolutely perfect week at Herondale Farm. The photos of this lovely farmhouse do not do it justice - it is charming, cozy and well-appointed. It has many beautiful features like double farm sinks, a wonderful front porch and amazing natural light at all times of the day. Our whole family enjoyed walking around the farm and getting close to the many animals - cows, chickens, donkeys, sheep and horses. The house is close to many swimming holes, small towns, farm markets and other delights. As other reviewers have noted, the Herondale Farm store is right across the street, but there any many options for purchasing local, fresh food - all delicious. We had a wonderful time - I wish we had booked two weeks!

Perfect weekend in spacious, peaceful farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

I had a lovely weekend with my family here - cooking, playing in the snow and enjoying the peace, quiet and gorgeous views from the property. The owner was so gracious, and I look forward to coming back.

An ideal base to explore the Hudson valley and to experience life on the farm! Watch the cattle,( and not just a small herd but hundreds) pass right by your front porch. Walk out your kitchen door to be greeted by a relatively small group

of sheep and donkeys. Enjoy fresh baked bread from the farm store right across the street on saturday mornings, along with any variety of cuts of lamb, beef or pork. Who would have known such an unspoiled landscape of rollung hills and farmland existed so close to the city! Not to be missed!

Delightful, beautiful, fun, delicious

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful house, perfect for a big family or two small families. The kids loved the proximity of the farm animals, and spent much time feeding the donkeys. The farm store right by the house has fantastic food and produce and the kitchen is a delight to work in, we ate so incredibly well and could hardly have eaten more locally and tastily. Convenient to towns such as Hudson and Rhinebeck.

We just got back from a wonderful weekend at the Farmhouse. Very clean, plenty of space. Loads of fun and wonderful fields to walk...alone...with others...or with our two dogs. Great hosts and will certainly stay again. Just a nice easy weekend getaway from the city. Would certainly recommend.
