About Nick Catania

I live 2 hours North of this Island paradise with my wife and 2 teenage daughters. We come down here as often as possible to enjoy the ocean and relaxed atmosphere of the Keys. Once you hit Overseas Highway, you experience a clear change in latitude and attitude. Its far enough away from the craziness of Miami but only an hour and half from Miami airport or 2 hours from Fort Lauderdale. We have friends who also own homes here in Anglers Reef and often come down together. We enjoy boating, fishing, diving and just sitting around relaxing. We are happy to make our home available to your family to enjoy the same.

Nick Catania purchased this house in 2013

Why Nick Catania chose Upper Florida Keys

We looked all over the Keys for the perfect location for a family retreat as well as a good investment property. What attracted us to Anglers Reef was the look and feel of the location. The entire community is gated and has 2 beautiful private beaches and a marina. Our kids have a safe place to run around, explore and play. The area is full of good restaurants within a 10 minute drive and the location 2 hours away from our primary residence makes coming here an easy trip anytime of year.

Very clean. Very nice. Had everything we could need during a week of R&R.

  • 4 of 5

Nick's house had everything we needed to enjoy our week without having to run to the store for any little that was missing. The house was immaculate upon arrival. The kitchen was equipped completely. Too many times we've rented homes that say they're fully equipped, only to find annoying little items missing like, not enough spoons, or no corkscrew, or spatula, or too few coffee mugs, whatever. There wee zero instances of this with 110 Anglers Reef. Everything was comfy, clean, and complete. Beds were great and linens all good. There were even beach towels for the pool. One thing we didn't discover though until our 5th day was that there is a beach. It's not too obvious when you go to the pool that there is a path to the small beach off to the right. However, I'll bet Nick's rental info book tells you it's there, but he has so much info in it that we missed it.

If you happen to rent a boat for the week (see Captain Jeff or Mike at the marina at the Postcard Inn a mile south) like we did, then there are several restaurants and bars you can get to by water close by. One, the Sunset Grill, is also close enough to walk to from the house. We had Country Cowboy rentals (I think that's what they're called?) drop four bicycles off at the house for the week also at $220. With bikes you can get anywhere you need without getting into a car. We also used Uber a few times when we knew we'd have a few drinks out for the evening. Good news is there are Uber drivers there now. The bad news is that there are so few of them that the rates are always at the UberEx demand rates, which are double the normal rates, so only advantage over a cab is using the app to see availability and how close they are getting to you as they approach.

If you like to eat, drink, bike, boat and relax in a tropical setting, then Islamorada has enough of all those things to do them with gusto. Anglers Reef made for a great spot for us to do those things from, and then wind down in comfort at the end of the eve. The singular cautionary note I would add is to be extremely careful of the main road. Cross it with patience and care. The drivers on that road don't generally abide by any rules. But if you're used to driving around Miami, then you might be good to go ;)

Great vacation getaway

  • 5 of 5

This property is a beautiful vacation getaway situated in a quiet gated community in Islamorada. The home is nicely decorated and very well maintained - clean and efficient. There is a sheltered boat dock area where small fish swim around between the boats., and are easily spotted (one day my son and I even saw three large tarpon swimming there). Adjacent to the docks is a small sand beach with chairs to relax in the sun. The pool is also beautiful & extremely well maintained, and the grounds staff are very friendly and helpful. The owner (Nick) was a pleasure to work with and was responsive to us anytime we called with a question or request. I would highly recommend this property to anyone considering a stay in the Islamorada area.

Great property

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with our 2 boys (6 and 4) . The house had so much space was very nicely decorated. The kitchen and bathrooms were updated and clean. It was so convenient to be able to have breakfast and lunch at home (especially with young kids). We even grilled burgers and hot dogs for dinner one night when we didn't feel like going out. We LOVED the pool - it was warm and sunny and you can see the water from the pool (and bathrooms at pool were a nice convenience too). The beach was typical of the area - a little rocky but great for kayaking. We saw a manatee in the boat slips our first night there and tons of fish in there during the week, too. The house was close to everything and the owner had great recommendations for places to eat and he was SO easy and nice to work with. Would definitely recommend this house and we'll be coming back!

Awesome accommodations for our family of five!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay during spring break at Nick's property. My husband and I were very comfortable in the master bedroom with king size bed and en suite bathroom. Our three daughters shared the second bedroom. Our twin daughters slept on the queen size bed and our teenage daughter slept on the sofa bed.

The girls especially loved the back porch and the comfortable outdoor furniture. We only used one of the parking spaces, but it could be handy to have two in some circumstances. The property has a great pool that we spent hours and hours in. We also rented a boat slip and that was very convenient. The only downside to the property as it really doesn't have a beach per se. However, the Keys is not really as known for beaches. We did drive to Bahia Honda and had some great beach time.

We stayed for 3 weeks in this home. The home was decorated very nice and well stocked. The beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed the back porch and barbecue grill many nights. Islamorada is halfway between Miami and Key West. It is not as crowded as Key West or Marathon. There are restaurants within walking distance that also featured live music. We loved the pool and swam laps early every morning. We had paddle boards delivered right to the beach. It is a 2 1/2hr. drive from Ft. Lauderdale airport. This was our 2nd time to Islamorada we love it here. Nick was very helpful with all our questions. The home had a notebook with information on all the restaurants, menus, fishing charters, bike, paddle board and boat rentals everything we needed to make our vacation more enjoyable. We will be returning to Anglers Reef which is a beautiful, safe gated community.
