3 bed, 2 bath cottage to rent in Sidmouth on quiet road with parking
Cancelled bookings will not receive a refund.
Heydons House self - catering , Sidmouth, Devon
An excellent location situated in a quiet lane, within easy walking distance of the town. Parking the car in the garage was challenging, if you have anything much larger than a fiesta you will have a problem but there is parking available between the hours of 5 30 pm - 8 30 am further along the lane.
We were very comfortable here. The upstairs is lovely but downstairs needed some attention. Beware the Arga if you have never used one before. We couldn't find any instructions so it was an issue. It does keep downstairs quiet warm though !!
Overall a nice place to stay but needs a bit of attention and TLC but we'd probably return for another short break at some stage.
Lovely Cottage, full of character, great location
We had a lovely stay at this very comfortable, character cottage. Great location just a couple of minutes of walk to the town centre and sea front.
Lovely little sunny courtyard. We really enjoyed reading a book / newspaper in the sun with a cup of tea!
Great communication with the owner Jon and his housekeeper Laura when we needed her.
We loved Sidmouth and would definitely return to the cottage.
(Just one thing, I am not sure the photos on this website actually do the cottage justice. It's even nicer in the flesh!)
Thank you for the review. I am glad you had such a great time at the cottage. It is wonderful to hear that our guests are getting as much enjoyment out of it as we do.
Hope to welcome you back soon.
A relaxing stay in beautiful Sidmouth
Great Location though Parking difficult as not able to swing a large car into small Garage.Level 3 minute walk to Town Centre shops. Cottage nice and quirky but disappointed with no simple provions - no Polyroll(2sheets),no w/up liquid etc
Thank you for the review. I am very glad you had a relaxing stay at the cottage.
Toilet roll is provided in each bathroom. There should have been washing up liquid left for you - apologies if the cleaners overlooked this - there were people leaving the morning you arrived so perhaps they were rushing.
If guests require any further provisions then do let me know and we will happily supply them. As you rightly say the cottage is a 3 min walk to the town centre there is a 24 hour Tesco express so I would imagine it would not be too inconvenient to pop across and obtain anything required.
Entrance to the garage is indeed tight but I don't have a problem getting my BMW estate in. Alternatively we have the use of a parking space about 100 yards away that is available all weekend and evenings during the week.
I guess the cottage is a little quirky but that again adds to it's charm and the Devon experience. It is a true, and very well loved 2nd home and we hope all our guests have the most enjoyable stay.
Thank you and hope to welcome you back again in the future.
Great stay in quirky Sidmouth house
Had a lovely long weekend in Sidmouth, staying at Heydons House. Great location. Plenty of space for the four of us, with two bathrooms and three loos! Brilliant! Really good location and close to the town centre and some lovely bars and cafes. Also lovely and clean AND warm 😊. Thanks.
Thank you for the lovely review. The cottage is a true 2nd home and lovingly maintained. I am really glad you enjoyed it and hope to welcome you back again soon.
Heydons House very central for sea and shops and very well equipped.
We enjoyed our stay very much but would just mention one or two points. Unless you have a small car the garage can be a problem as there is not much room for manoeuvrability to get in so after our first evening we parked in nearby Seafield Road which was much easier...
A few extra instructions for the Aga would be helpful if you have not used one before.
Also as we were there in November we had dark evenings and the lighting in the sitting room is very poor. Maybe a standard lamp would be a good idea. Also a mirror please in the twin bedroom.
Everything else was absolutely fine and we would certainly rent Heydons House again.
Thank you for the 4 star review. I am so glad you enjoyed the cottage.
I can get my BMW into the garage but do understand that it is tight. As you rightly say you can park for free on adjoining roads or indeed we have the use of a parking space, about 50 metres away outside the entrance to the rugby club between the hours of 6pm and 8am weekdays and all weekends.
There is an instructional manual on how to use the Aga in the kitchen. We feel the aga is a lovely addition to the cottage and really adds to its character. Plus if you are visiting in the winter it really keeps you warm!
We have not had an issue with the lighting in the living room but happy to supply a lamp should this be an issue going forward.
Thank you once again, we appreciate feedback and will act on it where appropriate. We are extremely proud of our cottage and want our guests to have the same wonderful experience in it that we do. I am so pleased to hear you would rent the cottage again and look forward to welcoming you back.
Great location in Sidmouth
Nice old property with character and great location.
Thank you very much for the review. In keeping with other such cottages in Sidmouth it is an older property but is very well kept, with lots of character and modern comfort.
As you say the location can't be beaten.
I am so glad you had a lovely time and hope we can welcome you back again in the future. Thank you.
