Well kept, nicely appointed, great location...

We had a wonderful few days staying in this beachfront condo. Lloyd was a very friendly and responsive owner, a pleasure to deal with. The unit is bright and beautifully furnished, with lots of attention to detail and comfort. The beach was quiet during our early-March visit, clean and easy to stroll, and we enjoyed watching the ships navigate the channel. We spent time in Savannah as well as at the Savannah NWR and found all points easy to access. Truly a relaxing vacation.

Loved this quiet beach location!

  • 5 of 5

This condo was very spacious and clean and had lots of little extras that were nice. A few beach towels, chairs, sand toys, loads of bath towels and soap. Things you don't usually get with a rental. The rooms and furnishings were great and the balcony was quite spacious. We loved eating our lunch out there every day in the shade, watching the dolphins swim and play in the ocean right in front of us. The beach area was not crowded and the sand was very wide, especially at low tide. Our only disappointment was with the lack of surf on the beach. We are used to the much rougher waters of NC so this was very different for us although much more relaxing. I would highly recommend this property and island for a laid back beach experience.

Six of us mostly retired Gals rented for 8 nights, it was wonderful!

The bedrooms and closets were spacious and beautifully appointed. The beds were comfortable, except for the Sleep Number, which kept deflating halfway thru the night, but it was ok anyway. Loved the internet and Sirius radio, we used it a lot. Lovely views, we especially loved seeing loads of dolphins and the shrimp boats, especially loved the shrimpers at night. You have some beach towels, noodles, beach chairs. Great utility rooms. Highly recommend

The house is prettier than the pictures depict. You can watch the Dolphins from the balcony.

  • 4 of 5

First of all, Mr Kilday was friendly and helpful. His home is decorated very nicely and is actually prettier than the pictures reveal. He even provides amenities like several rolls of toilet paper, soap in both showers, dish soap, an abundance of towels (even beach towels), pool toys (noodles), beach chairs, and there's even a cooler if you need to use it.

His condo is on the lower level, but you have to climb two flights of stairs to get to it. All three bedrooms have large closets and ceiling fans. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, silverware, and pots/pans, along with a coffee pot. There is a very nice washer and dryer in the condo, so bring some H.E. laundry soap and wash as you go. You won't have to do a bunch of laundry when you get home. There's a balcony with a good view of the ocean. With the dunes and foliage you won't be able to see the beach from the balcony, but you can see the Dolphins really well, the pretty sunsets when it's not too cloudy, and the fishing boats at night. There's a nice sized pool you'll have access to. The beach access is right there, so no long jaunts to get there. It's the north end of Tybee Island, so it's not so crowded or "tourist-y". It was quite peaceful and enjoyable. If you like the busier side, it's just a short car ride down the road; you'll just have to pay for parking. The ONLY negative I have to say is: my side of the sleep number bed did not work. I was SO looking forward to a comfortable bed, but I didn't get it. Mr Kilday couldn't get it fixed while we were there, so I was disappointed. A lot of reviews spoke about the comfortable beds. I even tried one of the twin beds. Firm beds are not my thing, I guess, but I still slept. Keep in mind, that is my only real complaint. Not too bad, eh?

There is a small grocery store, the IGA, on the main road. There are a lot of good places to eat on the island. We really enjoyed The Original Crab Shak, the Sundae Cafe, and Sting Ray's Restaurant. Great food.

Downtown Savannah is maybe 20 minutes away. Lots of shops and restaurants of course. The Lady and Sons was VERY good. I was miserable from over doing it at the buffet. Remember to save room for your dessert. We did the trolley tour, which was very interesting. There are museums and monuments. So much history. Keep in mind there are parking garages down there. I think they are the best bet. They are kind of central, if walking isn't a problem for you. Great vacay!

First Time Visitor

  • 5 of 5

Stayed in Lloyd's Savannah Beach condo for 5 days during our first visit to Tybee and Savannah. Everything was perfect and as advertised. Condo is very quiet with excellent beach access and a wonderful pool. Saw more dolphins swimming right in front of condo than any other beach visit we have made across the US. The porch always has something too watch - either dolphins, ships or shrimp boats. Satellite radio was plus. Excellent flat screens and cable/wifi. Was pleasantly surprised with Tybee Island. It is a great little beach resort. Would stay again without hesitation!

Owner's Response: Tom, the fact that of all your vacation rentals across the U.S., you witnessed more dolphins swimming in view of our condo than all others. What a compliment!
