About the property

3 Bedrooms 1 Bathroom Absolutely Lake Front- Book your Spring Vacation!

The cabin is two stories and has 3 bedrooms-one double bed downstairs, one king bed upstairs and one with two twin beds. There is a sitting area upstairs between the two bedrooms that has 2 recliners for watching videos. The main floor is an open floor plan with the living room area, dining area and kitchen. There is a very efficient wood stove for heat plus wall heaters upstairs and downstairs. The sofa bed in the living room has the best view of the lake! The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of dishes, flatware, cookware and small appliances. The bathroom is located downstairs. A washer and dryer are also on the main floor. The cabin has a very peaceful and comfortable feeling. Outside there is a brick patio and a fireplace with benches for seating while roasting marshmallows. The property is 156 feet of lakefront located on a 3/4 acre parcel which affords a feeling of privacy. Lake Wenatchee is just a few steps from the deck. Any time of day, you can enjoy the closeness of the lake and take a walk out on the rock jetty to enjoy your morning coffee or evening beverage. Lakeside dining on the deck can't be beat. The views of Dirty Face Mountain and up and down the lake are amazing. The sunsets over the mountains quite often rival those seen in Hawaii. There is a cove where a boat or other watercraft can be safely tied up.

The Fall colors in late Sept and Oct can be observed up and down the lake from the large deck. The short drive into Leavenworth and Plain will give you a real show of red, orange and yellow of the turning leaves. The Christmas Lighting Festival in Leavenworth is always a popular event, so book early for December in order to be sure you are able to attend one of these weekends, and then return home to the quiet and calm of the lake where you can relax by the fire (indoor or outdoor) after a day of festivities. Winter activities are numerous in the immediate area and Stevens Pass Ski Resort is just a 1/2 hour drive. Thee is usually still plenty of snow in March.

About Karen Nyberg

Bruce and Karen Nyberg: Bruce grew up in New Hampshire and always dreamed of owning a lake cabin. Karen grew up in Walla Walla, WA and dreamed of moving to CA. We both ended up in the San Francisco Bay Area. We were married in 1972 and have lived in our home in Felton in the redwoods on a creek for over 45 years. Bruce has been a general contractor for 45 years and Karen runs the office. Our two daughters and their families love going to the cabin for our family get together every summer. The two of us go up in the Spring to do any necessary repairs and maintenance and then again in the Fall, which is a beautiful time to be at the lake-very quiet and relaxing.

Karen Nyberg purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Karen Nyberg chose Leavenworth

Karen's brother and sister-in-law bought a cabin on Lake Wenatchee over 30 years ago and we spent time there with them and loved it. They have since re-built the cabin into their permanent home. When the cabin nearby them became available to purchase, it was without hesitation that we contacted the owner and made a deal. Bruce's dream came true! It is a long way from home to get there, but the trip is well worth it and we go as often as we can, which isn't often enough for us. Every summer we have a family gathering that includes boating, skiing, fishing, tubing, and just floating around the lake on the inflatables.

What makes this cabin unique

One of the best things about this cabin is the location. From inside the cabin all you can see past the deck railing is the lake and the mountains. The lake is literally a few steps from the deck stairs. The large windows in the living room allow an incredible view even in rainy weather, which is one of our favorite times to be there, with the fire going and curled up on the recliner with a good book. Summer is always fun on the lake, so book early for next year, especially August when sockeye season opens. Fall is a great time for a quiet retreat and the weather is still warm. Book early for Oktoberfest! These weekends are very popular and always get booked in advance. The cabin being only a 25 minute drive from Leavenworth is a calm respite after the festivities of the day. Low cost shuttle service to Oktoberfest and back to the lake is offered during the festival. Sometimes towards the end of October Dirty Face gets the first dusting of snow. The lake otters, ducks, loons, osprey and eagles are always a special treat to watch. The Christmas Lighting Festival in Leavenworth during December is lovely and of course, coming back to the peace and serenity of the cabin and a cup of hot chocolate to further celebrate the coming holiday.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi, Karen. We did have a great weekend, thank you! Being so close to the water was the best part and I loved falling asleep with the window open and hearing the water lapping on the shore. Our four legged friend had a ball retrieving sticks from the water.

Everything was very nice, your place is cozy and comfortable, which made it very relaxing as well.

Thanks again, I hope we can visit again.

The town of Leavenworth is a 20 minute drive from the cabin. Check the town calendar online for the upcoming festivals and events, such as Oktoberfest and the Christmas Lighting Festival in Dec. Don't miss the Fall colors in Oct, Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year's Eve on the lake. After spending a day in town, it's always good to get back to the peacefulness of the lake cabin. There are plenty of places to go wine tasting in nearby in Plain at Plain Cellars, Leavenworth and Wenatchee. Golf is available in Leavenworth and the Wenatchee area as well as 5 minutes down the road at Kahler Glen. The summer months are fantastic for boating, jet skiing, hiking, fishing, tubing, windsurfing, kite boarding, etc. all right at the lake or close by. Cross country skiing, snow shoeing and snowmobiling are all available close by. Stevens Pass Resort is about 40 minutes away for skiing and snowboarding. The wildlife viewing at the cabin includes moose, deer, otters, chipmunks, eagles, & osprey

Great Place to Spend a Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time, there was lot of snow to play in and activities near by to enjoy. The cabin was great, everything was working and in tact, and had all the amenities we needed. This is a great place to stay in the winter and a nice little weekend getaway from the city life. The view is amazing and so serene during the winter.

Owner's Response: Spectacular, serene, peaceful and private. Perfect description of the cabin and the lake in the winter, one of the most beautiful times of the year. The cabin is just a few steps from the lake. Sitting in the living room reading your latest book all warm and cozy by the fire, you can't even see land. The lake is right there. There is something so calming and restful about the lake in the winter. The kids love playing board games with the family and it's a great place to reconnect and set aside the electronics for a few hours. Cooking meals together is so much fun and it brings family and friends closer. Sledding down the driveway is a blast for both kids and adults!

Wonderful winter stay 2018

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at this lakefront cabin, two adults, two kiddos ages 4 and 6 and an old yellow lab. Karen was responsive to our inquiries and everything was just as described. We had some good snow around the cabin and the kids had fun messing around in it, although we missed the really big amounts at the end of February. Still, we went sledding and snowshoeing at the Lake Wanatchee State Park, had some toasty fires in the excellent wood stove, and enjoyed the beautiful view. Overall the cabin was cute, comfortable, clean and the kitchen was well-stocked with utensils, pots, dishes, etc. Would absolutely stay again....maybe in the summer too!

Owner's Response: We have so many guests whose favorite time of year at the cabin is winter-and for good reason! The lake is spectacular with the snow all around-so quiet and peaceful. We always like to encourage those cold weather enthusiasts to visit in the summer, too. There is a lot more activity, but still so much less than other lakes in the area. You will still have plenty of privacy and quiet time after a day playing in the water. We sure do love to get comments like in the above review and hope to see everyone come back no matter what season.

Nice lakefront cabin

  • 4 of 5

We rented the cabin for a short winter midweek stay near the Mission and Stevens ski slopes. The cabin was well provisioned, and we had good communication with the owners for the few questions we had. Our particular stay was during a cold snap, so the wood burning stove helped to keep things warm. Looks like it would be a great place to experience in the warmer months.

Owner's Response: It is definitely cold at the cabin during the winter! That wood stove works very well fighting against the cold weather to keep it toasty inside. The cabin is so much fun in the summer and we hope our winter guests will give it a try in the summer, too.

Perfect weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived Friday night and had a little girl that was very excited to see the long driveway covered in snow. It was the perfect hill for sledding. The cabin was very cozy and we really enjoyed the wood stove. It had everything that we needed and hope to come back for another weekend getaway soon.
