Renovated from the original carriage house. The 2-story rustic loft-like guesthouse is detached from the main house and sits off a fully enclosed courtyard with gate. 3 blocks to dining, shopping, outdoor cafes, & starbucks and sunday farmer's market. 5 blocks from lake eola park. And less than a mile to the courthouse, publix, freshmarket, and downtown orlando. Walk or bike everywhere!
This guesthouse has an open kitchen to the great room and bedroom upstairs with full washer and dryer in the closet. Wood floors upstairs and concrete floors downstairs, stocked with fresh 800tc white linens and white towels.
I am an Interior designer/ architect and I love to travel. I have lived in many great cities (NYC, Aspen, Miami, and LA) and I always come back here. I use VRBO wherever I go. It's the greatest way to really get to know how the locals live, find the best restaurants, and walking communities.
Margaret purchased this cottage in 2004
Orlando is a great city. I grew up here. When ever I leave the state of Florida, I am reminded of the great weather and ease of living here. I can walk everywhere and there is always something interesting going on.
Great local neighborhood vibe! Walk to dining, shopping, and Sunday farmer's market, and enjoy the close proximity to Lake Eola and Downtown Orlando. 5 minute drive/ rickshaw (10 minute walk) to Amway center & movie theaters. 45 minutes to the Beach. Disney Area & Theme Parks & Convention Center 30 minute drive. 20 minutes from airport. 2 miles from Orlando executive airport.
This property was safe and felt very homie. I never had any issues with parking or being disturbed at night. I would rent from here again.
The guest house is very well equiped. Every thing you need, except a hair dryer and a lamp on the bedside table.
Margaret is very welcoming!
Hope to stay there again!
What a wonderful little house, exactly as in the pictures. A great area and our host was charming
Margaret is a fabulous host and the guesthouse is a perfect option in downtown Orlando. Located at the back of the property on a quiet street, it is a very short walk to the shops, restaurants and bars of Thornton Park. The interiors of the guesthouse are fantastic and very tastefully done, with plenty of room and a long list of appliances (the washer and dryer are awesome), so it's a great alternative to staying in a hotel.
(I will mention that the interior staircase to reach the second floor bedroom is narrow, so that could be an issue if you have difficulty climbing stairs...)
If you have a car, street parking is easy available and most major highways and avenues are easily accessible. The central location makes is easy to access I-4, 408, the airport, Mills Ave and Colonial Dr. The theme parks and outlet malls are straight down I-4 and about a 15-25 minute drive, depending on where you are going.
Overall, I would highly recommend staying at Margaret's guesthouse if you are looking for a unique and comfortable alternative to a traditional hotel or extended stay hotel.
We came to Orlando for a wedding that was in Thornton Park. It was a great location and a very artsy cool place. The loft stairs are a bit tricky, but the exterior stairs were great for back up. Loved the wood beam ceiling and concrete floors in the down stairs open room. And a super cool lit stackstone wall in the open kitchen. I think the best part was waking up in the most comfortable bed I have been in since the W. Tempurbedic mattress and great sheets and big pillows. The location was very easy to get around from. We rented a car and never used it, except to go to the grocery and tour the neighborhood. You can walk to the Restaurants. Great french bakery 2 blocks away. Also the wedding was 3 blocks away so most of our friends stayed at an Inn that was 2 times the price and a third the size. We were sorry we didn't know that she rents out the main house & studio for our friends. Will definitely come back and recommend for others too. Margaret was very friendly and helpful when we asked for directions and for things to do.
2 blocks from restaurants, shopping, Starbucks, Lake Eola, outdoor cafes.
Take the rickshaws to Amway Arena, Downtown.
Near I-4/ and the 408 expressway. Easy driving to all the attractions, but I recommend staying in Thornton Park.
