Renovated from the original carriage house. This rustic 2-story loft-like guesthouse is detached from the main house and sits off a fully enclosed courtyard with gate. 3 blocks to dining, shopping, outdoor cafes, & Starbucks and Sunday farmer's market. 5 blocks from lake Eola park. And less than a mile to the courthouse, Publix, Fresh Market, and downtown Orlando. Walk or bike everywhere!
It has an open kitchen to the great room and bedroom upstairs with full washer and dryer in the closet. Wood floors upstairs and concrete floors downstairs, stocked with fresh 800tc white linens and white towels.
I am an Interior designer/ architect and I love to travel. I have lived in many great cities (NYC, Aspen, Miami, and LA) and I always come back here. I use VRBO wherever I go. It's the greatest way to really get to know how the locals live, find the best restaurants, and explore original walking communities.
Margaret purchased this guest house in 2004
Orlando is a great city. I grew up here. Whenever I leave Orlando, I am reminded of the great weather and ease of living here. I can walk everywhere and there is always something interesting going on.
Great local neighborhood vibe! Walk to dining, shopping, boutiques, and Sunday farmer's market. Enjoy the close proximity to Lake Eola, Downtown Orlando, Amway center, Performing Arts Center & movie theaters. 30-45 minutes to the Beach, Disney Area & Theme Parks & Convention Center.
We stayed 13 days at this location. The house was perfect for the two of us. Walking distance to great food, groceries and eclectic area. Given the location the property is still very private and quiet. The bed was the most comfortable mattress we had ever slept on, even asked for the brand so we could purchase the same mattress.
The owner Margaret was very prompt with any questions or needs we had. We hope to stay here annually.
I stayed here for the month March. It is a very comfortable house. The view from upstairs is like being in a tree house. I enjoyed the courtyard fr reading and visiting with friends. Margaret is amazing. She is very knowledgeable about the area and can help with every need. The location is great for walking. I will stay here next year.
I stayed at the house for the month of February 2017 and loved it. The location was just perfect, the house was very nice and the owner is a very nice lady. I would love to go back next year.
The owner of the property was easy to communicate with, and the pictures are a good representation of the place.
My husband and I stayed 3 nights in this VRBO. We were looking to get a way from the Michigan Snow and Cold - wanted something where we did not need to get a car. Used Orlando Limo Tour from the airport about 13 miles from this house. The place is cute, bed was comfy, good hot shower, location cannot be beat! We did not cook any meals here, just bought some snacks - did make use of the refrigerator. We are not hard to please people, but a few things worth mentioning; would have been nice to have more lighting in the driveway - walking back at night, it was dark. Also, we had to buy paper towel (there was none) and toilet paper (there was not enough toilet paper provided). That being said, I am sure if we contacted Margaret, she would have provided these items. The other thing that was a bit disappointing was the table and chairs in the little courtyard looked like they had not been cleaned is a long long time - it would have been nice to be able to sit out there and enjoy the weather & play cards, etc.... It has a nice TV and comfy couch to sit on. Needed to use the air conditioning upstairs on the last night - the air conditioning in the downstairs did not work (would not power on). Also, like others have said, if you have any mobility issues, the winding stairs inside are hard to maneuver; we used the outside stairs the most, which is a nice alternative.
We walked everywhere! All around Thornton Park, Lake Eola and Downtown Orlando. We ate at Shari Sushi, Graffiti Junktion (nachos come out on a huge pizza pan!), Anthony's, Lake Eola Wine Company, World of Beer (WOB), Gringo's Locos, we even ate at Panera (had a yummy quiche!), Starbucks and even 7-Eleven for a frozen Coke. We went to Sak Comedy Lab - that was GREAT - very good show! We did a sculpture tour on our own - took pictures of all 8 sculptures around Lake Eola; also the fountain in the middle was very cool! Still had the huge Christmas Tree up - which was beautiful, and had a light & music show a few times during the evening hours. A very cute little area and a good place to get a way for a few days, neighborhood felt safe and everyone was friendly.
2 blocks from restaurants, shopping, Starbucks, Lake Eola, outdoor cafes.
Take the rickshaws/ uber to Amway Arena, Downtown.
Near I-4/ and the 408 expressway. Easy driving to all the attractions, but I recommend staying in Thornton Park.
