We purchased this home as our own little getaway nestled in the woods that is easy to get to but feels like a world away.
Our home is in Wilmington,NY, which is a quiet, quaint town that is only a few miles away from Lake Placid.
The Adirondacks are known for down to earth atmosphere everywhere you go, Plus it is close to Lake Champlain, Lake Placid and Mirror Lake.

Whether you're indoors or out, ice-skating is an excellent family friendly activity. Create your own gold medal moment at the Olympic Oval on Main Street in Lake Placid. We enjoy the spaciousness of the cottage, the spectacular view of Whiteface and the easy access to its trails. Its was a wonderful Canadian Thanksgiving which even attracted some inquisitive wild turkeys in the backyard.
We stayed at Quaker Chalet with our college age children and were very pleased with the layout, the space and the convenient location. We spent little time at the house as we were hiking and exploring but we were thankful to have a "home base" that was clean, comfortable, centrally located and felt like "home". The pool table was a nice bonus in the evenings. There were two tv areas to spread out and watch the Olympics after a long day of hiking. Having a washer and dryer was a blessing when dealing with unexpected rain. Morning coffee on the deck with Whiteface in view was a great way to start each day. The owners clearly went the extra mile by providing incidentals and leaving informative notes and information about the area. The only item that prevents me from giving 5 stars was the kitchen supplies. We made do with what we had but we had to get creative at times. Thanks for helping make our visit to the area great! We would definitely rent here again as well as recommend it to friends.
We really enjoyed our stay. The home had a pleasant appeal to it. The house was well equipped with all the basic amenities that made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The notes really helped us. We had fun playing pool and the board games. The view of the mountains from the patio was breathtaking. We would love to come back.
We were thrilled to arrive at this well-equipped house minutes from the ski hill and a short drive to Lake Placid. Indoor and out, there were activities to entertain kids when not at the hill. We thoroughly enjoyed the wood fireplace as well as the downstairs games/entertainment room. Loved the views of the mountains from the back deck and loved the privacy. Would love to return.
Booking a place sight unseen is always a gamble, but the Quaker Mountain Chalet is a gem. Eight of us spent a record-breaking cold weekend there and the fireplace became our central gathering spot. Thanks to the owners' efforts we had plenty of wood to keep it burning. We were welcomed with a sweet gift and note, and when our cars were too cold to start, the owners had someone there in half an hour to jump them for us. Those in our group who braved the cold to spend the day on the mountain took turns thawing out in the jetted tub and then unwound shooting some pool. The mountain view is gorgeous in the morning light even though some big trees disallow a full view. If anything could be tweaked, I'd get a larger bed in the master bedroom, as that one seems to be a wee short for taller people, and maybe a few more items to cook with. But that reminds me- the owners had the fridge prepped with some snacks for the kids.
All in all it's a great find with an affordable rate. Go for it:)
There was a total of six of us that stayed at the house and from the moment we walked in it was nothing but great. The owners were well informative of everything provided and all details needed which was great compared to other places in the area which wouldn't even return my phone call. The house was very clean and the amenities were above and beyond. We will absolutely be returning in the future.
