CHIC LONDON RENTALS purchased this apartment in 2001
This studio is the perfect place for a single individual or a couple to use as a home base while staying in London. Located within easy walking distance of multiple transportation options (including tube, bus, and regional rail), it is convenient to not only the heart of London, but also the center of the charming and safe neighborhood of Putney. Angela, the landlord, is a gracious hostess and provides lots of helpful information and is readily available when and if you need her. I greatly enjoyed my stay here and would highly recommend it to others.
It was very clean and comfortable- also (though small) a well stocked kitchen. The nice space heater made it especially cozy as did the duvet. The owner was conscientious about my needs and very pleasant. It was also an economical solution to my needing to be in Kensington as my daughter goes to university there- an easy trip straight through to Kensington.on the tube, I would definitely recommend it and hope to bring my husband back and stay in the larger unit!
Angela's flat in the Putney / Wandsworth area can be a great choice to meet a traveller's needs. Angela is organized, highly communicative and detailed. We found her in-flat information booklet very helpful. By North American standards, the flat feels small, but the lay-out is very thoughtful, and works well. When we arrived, the flat was very clean and ready for us, including everything we needed. The area - and the flat - is very quiet and feels very safe, even at night when returning from the city. It's a short walk up to grocery shopping and a nice coffee shop. Angela pointed out some local places to eat, but we ate in town each night, so can't comment on the quality of restaurants in the area. However, we passed several on our way out, so there is good access and choice for places nearby to eat . It's about a 12-15 minute walk from the flat to the East Putney underground station, but the station is on the District Line, one of the most useful for visitors. We used it almost exclusively. All in all, this flat is a great choice for an individual or couple who don't mind being a bit out of the city centre to save money, but who nonetheless want a great place to lay their heads at night, and a great place from which to access all the city has to offer. My wife and I would certainly come back here on a subsequent visit to London! By the way, we purchased half price tickets to see "Kinky Boots" at the Adelphi Theatre. We got them at a discount vendor very close to the Leicester Square Subway Station. There is also an outlet in Leicester Square itself, a short walk up from the tube station. Take advantage of great prices and great seats! Also, if you can, definitely take in just about anything in the Royal Albert Hall. It's an amazing space with great atmosphere and acoustics. There are several restaurants on site - we ate at Verdi's, just inside and up the stairs from the main entrance. The food is good and the prices reasonable. One can access the Hall and fabulous nearby museums from the South Kensington tube station on the District Line. Enjoy!
All was as promised. During a busy week of research and other work, I appreciated having a home-base where I could rest and have some quiet. Thanks, Angela!
Great location with easy access to Putney shops and restaurants, the river, park and public transport. Quiet, comfortable and spotless.
We have stayed in this studio several times, both travelling as a couple, and with a larger party where we´ve booked the studio together with the large apartment upstairs to provide an extra bedroom. We actually stayed in this room before the owner divided the ground floor into to apartments, it was then the large bedroom of that flat, so we where very curious about how the owner could squeeze in both a kitchenette and a bathroom into the bedroom.
The result works very well for us. What we love the most about this place is actually that it isn´t in central tourist-packed London, we love getting a small impression of how it actually is to live here, going to the local stores, pubs and restaurants, shopping mall, the playgrounds (when we bring the kids).
One must know that this is not a hotel room; it is the definition of compact living in fact. So the room is not very spacious, but it contains everything we need. Already booked our next stay!
Greetings from Sweden.
The flat is located in zone 2 Inner London, just 14 minutes by train to central London (Waterloo), 10 minute bus ride from Wimbledon, and 25 minutes by bus/train to Victoria. District Line tube is 11-12m away. A few minutes' walk away is the river Thames, a tree-lined riverside park, excellent riverside restaurants, and several pubs, while the lively Old York Road restaurant and cafe district is a 7 minute walk away. Waterloo is the home of Southbank, a picturesque riverside restaurant and shopping district, the London Eye, and Imax. A short walk will take you to Westminster Bridge, over the Thames to see the famous Big Ben and Houses of Parliament, then further up to Buckingham Palace and Park Lane. Over the footway is The Strand, Trafalgar Square, Soho, Picadilly and Covent Garden. Further to the right is the Modern Tate, and you can cross the famous Millennium Bridge to reach St Paul's Cathedral in London. By tube, you can reach the same destinations in minutes, as well as London Bridge, the Tower of London, and Oxford Circus.
