There is a bathroom upstairs and a shower room downstairs. The main living area includes a kitchen with granite work surfaces, range cooker, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and microwave. There is a dining table, sofas and armchairs, and a TV/DVD. Also downstairs is a cosy sitting room with an open fireplace. There is a separate utility room.
The cottage is at the end of a 100-yard path from the road so, while being convenient for local shops and services, it is also quiet and safe for children.

The kitchen has dualit appliances and just to make sure your stay gets off to the right start you'll find a bottle of wine, a cup of tea and a biscuit.
Chelmondiston and the hamlet of Pin Mill are on the Shotley peninsula, just one hour from the M25 junction with the A12 and one hour along the A14 from Cambridge.
The peninsula is about eight miles long and four miles wide and is bordered by the Rivers Orwell and Stour. At the tip of the peninsula at Shotley just a couple of miles from Elm Cottage you can look out to sea past the ports of Felixstowe and Harwich. This is a fabulous area for watersports..with marinas at the neighbouring villages Woolvestone and Shotley.
Pin Mill itself has a long association with seafaring, and particularly the magnificence Thames barges. You can watch these beautiful red sailed boats from the world famous Butt and Oyster pub has been feeding and watering sailors for hundreds of years.
In the centre of the Shotley peninsular is Alton reservoir, here you can hire smaller dinghies, canoes and windsurfers for the day or even enrol in RYA courses to learn to sail .

A little closer to Elm Cottage is The Suffolk Food Hall, a new and expanding venture but one of Suffolk oldest farming families. This is like the Harrods Food Hall in the country. A fantastic butcher, fishmonger...fresh bread baked every day, a restaurant, cafe and garden centre, plus a outstanding view of the river make this a very easy way to wile a way few hours., and the simplest way to stock up for barbecuing at Elm Cottage. Cosy character cottage in beautiful surroundings
We stayed here for four nights. The cottage was immaculate and clean and very well equipped. Penny made sure everything was in place and the welcome pack was very much appreciated. Thank you Penny. The cottage was very warm as the weather was not that good. Spent a lot of evenings sitting round the dining table eating and drinking! Lovely garden with patio and barbecue. Plenty of lovely walks. Butt and Oyster is well worth a visit and the Red Lion is lovely. More of a restaurant but you can still get a drink there and staff very friendly. Cottage plenty big enough for six people. Would highly recommend Elm Cottage. A hidden gem.
A charming cosy cottage hidden away in the countryside. Beautifully furnished and well equipped.
The perfect place to spend a family Xmas. The cottage had character and space. Excellent lay out for 8 of us to socialise. Great wood burner. So well equipped in the kitchen and overall a lovely homely feel - lots of games, cds and books. We even had a Xmas tree. We would love to return in the summer to make use of the large garden and patio area.

Elm Cottage Pin Mill
4 generations of our family plus Barnie the dog enjoyed the lovely cottage & the surrounding countryside (with plenty to explore) and seaside. Our ages ranged from age 8 weeks up to 87 years old. We had a relaxing holiday, plent of fresh air, good restaurants near by.
Children loved the garden, the toys & games at the cottage, the Cycle hire, foot ferry to Harwich & Jimmy's Farm.
Altogether a brilliant holiday !

We wish we could go there again.
Great to hear you had a good time. The wild strawberries are so pretty, glad you spotted them. We are very lucky to have inherited such a lovely cottage garden, we just try to keep it in order.
