About Mary and Michael Furlong
We live and work in our own businesses in Dublin, Ireland and have been coming to France on holidays since our daughters were very young. We fell in love with Nice and the whole Cote D'Azur region when we first visited in 2007 and returned several times before deciding to invest in our own property in the city. We try to get out to Nice a few times every year and never tire of all that it has to offer.
Mary and Michael Furlong purchased this Apartment in 2010
Why Mary and Michael Furlong chose Carre d'Or
The second we saw this apartment, we fell in love with it. From the perfect location to the elegant grandeur of the building and the apartment itself. The building has been highlighted as one of the finest examples of the famous Hausmann style of architecture famed throughout the major cities of France from the 19th and early 20 centuries. As a corner apartment, it has an amazing double aspect light filled living room. It has a wonderful sense of space throughout which strikes you immediately when you open the door into an almost 3m wide hallway that runs through the apartment into the living room in front. The second and third bedrooms are off a second hallway which gives a fantastic sense of calm, something which we really appreciate with our three daughters, now teenagers. We completely renovated it when you bought it in 2010 and modernised it while keeping all of the original features such as the ornate plasterwork of the high ceilings and the original parquet flooring. Whenever we return to Nice, we have to pinch ourselves that we own such a magnificent luxurious holiday home.

A perfect place to stay
We spent the month of March in this fabulous apartment. The apartment is well equipped. Everything you need to cook your meals is there. The apartment is extremely spacious and comfortable. It is perfectly located, near les Promenades des Anglais, food stores, many restaurants and an easy short walk to Old Nice. We highly recommend this magnificent Belle Époque apartment. Valerie, who greeted us, was charming and helpful. As well, she made herself available should we have any questions or concerns during or stay. Mary the owner replied quickly and was also very helpful with all my questions. Do no miss the opportunity to stay in this amazing apartment. It will make your stay in Nice unforgettable.
I would recommend anyone to stay there. It was seamless and so centrally located. Everything was cle
Loved it. Amazing property and great value.
Beautiful apartment and great location
We had an overall good experience. The owners were incredibly responsive when inquiring with questions and were very helpful. The apartment is lovely...especially the large living room with many windows. It's very bright, spacious, and in a great location...a short walk from the beach and many of the tourist areas. Parking worked out well at the recommended location at the museum nearby and was not as expensive as we expected. The owners also provide a lovely welcome packet with a lot of great information for visiting Nice and surrounding areas. The decor is nice and everything is comfortable; the photos are a very accurate representation of the beautiful apartment. Also, the building was secure and easy to find. Our only small complaints - the woman who welcomed us to the apartment was very nice but in a hurry; we would have preferred for her to spend a little more time explaining the apartment and area. There also weren't any paper towels or napkins available so I would recommend bringing your own. The apartment is on a busy street so it can be noisy, especially the master bedroom and living room with the windows open. Lastly, the apartment does NOT have air conditioning so it was incredibly warm and mostly uncomfortable during the heat of the summer. They do provide fans in every room which helps though. I would recommend a stay here as it is a great, spacious apartment but keep in mind the loud street and no a/c. If we make it back to Nice, I would stay here but visit in a cooler month than the end of June/early July.
Well located spacious apartment
Our family enjoyed our stay at the apartment. It’s located a short walk to the beach and slightly longer walk to the old town. I loved walking the back streets back from old town rather than the Promenade as there were lots of interesting shops to see. Of course the view from the promenade was magnificent as well.
Fabulous stay in this lovely apartment
The apartment is very spacious and clean. Belle Époque, indeed. My sister and I did some cooking and there were plenty of dishes. The large drying racks for clothes were great as we had travelled a bit before we arrived in Nice. It is just a short walk to the sea and other attractions. There is a small grocery store close by also. VALERIE IS FANTASTIC with a very enjoyable laugh....an oh the elevator is so cute! We wish we could stay all summer.🌷🌻🌸
Location, location, location - Central Nice. This beautifully refurbished apartment is perfectly situated for all that the Riviera and Nice has to offer. The apartment is in the centre of 'The Golden Square', the Carre D'or. Steps away from the famous Negressco, on the Promenade des Anglais, one of the few privately owned palaces in the world that is also classified a National Historic Monument. The world famous palm tree lined Promenade des Anglais itself is perfect for taking a seat, admiring the view, bike hiring or relaxing with the local Nicoise. Carre D'or is also the designer district, home to all the big names as well as plenty of boutiques and artisan food shops. The apartment is a five minute walk from the pedestrianised zone, with its bustling pavement cafés and restaurants. The bus and train station are each a 10 minute walk. This apartment is perfect if you want to be within a fifteen minute radius of all that Nice has to offer and it really is the perfect base to explore the Riviera
