I am Doda and I am from Dubrovnik. Born and raised. I have spent almost all of my life in the city and I love Dubrovnik. My hobby is taking care of my beautiful garden, which is lush and full of subtropical plants.I love to watch my garden grow.
The Owner purchased this apartment in 1900
Me and my son Alberto live in an historic stone mansion located in my favorite area of Dubrovnik (Pile) and I believe that it is the best place to stay in Dubrovnik. We rent the bottom two floors and live on top floor. Really enjoy meeting people from different countries and listening to their stories and experiences. I hope to continue doing this for as long as possible. When I invite people into my home I supply them with the comfort that I would appreciate when traveling. I also make my lists of local finds and suggestions for my guests as to make the experience here in the city comfortable.
We were a group of four, a couple and two sisters, and were in apartment Djivo, which was comfortable, convenient and tastefully decorated with beautiful antiques. Located just outside the Pila gate of the old city, it is well placed for visiting Dubrovnik as it is very close to places of interest, restaurants, and transportation, but at the same time secluded and peaceful. We loved the shady terrace and beautiful garden right outside our front door! The owner was helpful and the apartment very clean, and well maintained. We would highly recommend it though the location of the house up some steps and off a narrow street might be challenging to those with mobility problems. Thank you, Dobrila, for a wonderful stay.
A group of 5 (grandparents, daughter and 2 granddaughters 11 and 15), we found the apartment comfortable and convenient for our needs. Just outside the walls of the old city, it is well placed for visiting Dubrovnik being very close to places of interest and restaurants but at the same time secluded and peaceful. We enjoyed the shady terrace and beautiful garden especially in the evening. There are also frequent buses to Lapad and the port of Gruz from where you can get ferries to several islands. The owner was helpful and the apartment very clean, well maintained and attractively furnished. We would recommend it though the situation of the house off a narrow stepped street might be challenging to those with mobility problems
The apartment was in a good location, very close to the centre. We stayed in the Djivo apartment, which met our requirements well. We were a bit concerned, on arrival, when we found that there were two double beds, rather than the double and twin shown in the details. This was soon rectified when we took the mattress topper off and separated the beds.
We did have a problem with noise from the upstairs apartment when 3 adults and 4 children moved in. The hallway has a set of stairs going from Djivo up to the first floor. When the first floor apartment internal doors are open, you can hear every sound, including conversations. The children were very excited, which we understand but the noise was excessive. The owner did her best to get the occupants to be less noisy but to no avail. The owner left us a written apology and some chocolates. We think this problem could easily be avoided by fitting a door at the bottom of the stairs.
Overall, we had a brilliant time in Dubrovnik, visiting a couple of islands by boat and eating many excellent meals. We would love to return.
Our first time in Dubrovnink and we made perfect choice of accommodation. In this beautiful ground floor apartment of the villa we felt right at home.
Since no parking is available we unloaded infront of the Hilton Imperial - the accommodation is basically right behind the Hilton. We then parked the car in the parking garage, a few steps up from the house. The welcoming sweet wine, grappa, biscuits and cookies was even more enjoyed after unloading!!!!
The apartment is very tastefully decorated with beautiful antique furniture. The beds are very comfortable.
Our dog and Doda's dog got along perfectly!! Can only recommend staying there!!
Shortly: An easy and comfortable way to enjoy Dubrovnik. Our host Doda is the nicest person and most helpful with all one might need. Warmly recommending!
When my three friends and I were looking for a place to stay during our girl`s trip to Dubrovnik we checked out several websites for private accommodations as well as hotels in and around the city. In the end we picked Doda`s place because of the pictures of her beautiful gardens. We stayed in the Djivo apartment for a week and loved everything about it. It was clean and comfortable, offered good beds and was fully equipped with everything we needed. Doda arranged for us to be picked up at the airport, which made the start of our vacation easy and seamless. The apartment has a great location, just a few minutes walk from Pile Gate that leads into the old town, on a quiet street in narrow alleys for pedestrians only. We would wake up and have our breakfast in a garden full of flowers, oranges and herbs like rosemary and wild thyme, then pack our bags and walk to Ploce beach or to the ferries that go to Cavtat or Lokrum. There is so much to see and to do in Dubrovnik, like walking the whole length of the wall around the old town, jump into the salty, clear ocean from the rocks outside the walls, trying out the local wine bars and eating ice cream twice a day Two blocks from the apartment we could jump on the bus for trips to nearby towns. Staying with Doda felt a little bit like living in Dubrovnik for real. She is a great host, welcoming and helpful with all questions we might have. I fully recommend staying with her to anyone who is planning a trip to this beautiful, historic and mesmerizing town.
