I grew up in NYC and moved upstate when I got married. We now have a small farm on the outskirts of the village. After working for the local school district for 30 years, I am retired and spend time volunteering on the library board of trustees and spoiling my three grandsons.
I let guests know that I live nearby and am available if assistance is needed or if there are questions, but I like to back up and let them enjoy their time in this relaxing home and unique area.
Liz Hernandez purchased this house in 2004
Located on the Hudson River near both Woodstock and Hunter Mountain, Saugerties is home to Horse Shows in the Sun (HITS), an annual international garlic festival, Opus 40, Lazy Swan Golf Club, Total Tennis, Saugerties Performing Arts Factory, modern library, varied cultural events, four season outdoor activities, and some pretty unique characters.
Short walk to restaurants, movies, art galleries, bookstores, HITS, library, parks, shops, Esopus Creek, and village beach.
Most cafes have live music on the weekends and specials events on the first Friday of each month.
The Saugerties Lighthouse is 1 mile from the house at the convergence of the Hudson River & the Esopus Creek. A great place to walk dogs (on lead), swimming, kayaking, bird watching, and a great nature trail.
Saturdays from May through October, you can shop at the outdoor Farmer's Market right around the corner. Visitors find our home very comfortable and inviting. I have had many return guests who see it as their peaceful getaway. HITS-on-the-Hudson showgrounds are less than a mile away, and all village amenities are within walking distance.
Luz was great to work with. We were very comfortable and enjoyed our stay. Already planning a return trip!
This was a comfortable, wonderful home, the tremendous care taken by the owner in maintaining the environment is self evident. We loved relaxing on the back porch overlooking the beautiful yard. Liz was readily available and responsive to help us with any questions we had, and it was a pleasure to deal with her. We wish we could have stayed longer.
We went to Saugerties to attend horse show, and enjoyed our stay in clean, comfortable home. The owners were responsive to questions and the well appointed home is very convenient to the show grounds as well as downtown restaurants and shops. Home is exactly as depicted on Vrbo website. Would stay again. Thanks
The village of Saugerties is located at the convergence of the Hudson River and Esopus Creek. The village vibe is a great combination of Mayberry and Brooklyn. Home to HITS (Horse Shows in the Sun), the Saugerties Performing Arts Factory, Opus 40, great restaurants, cafes, boutiques, art galleries, Farmer's Market, and independent bookstores. Ten minutes to Woodstock.
Outdoor activities include hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding, hunting, boating, and more.
Live music, poetry reading, story telling, special first Friday events, and festivals are scheduled throughout the year.
