About Mary and Michael Furlong
We live and work in our own businesses in Dublin, Ireland and have been coming to France on holidays since our daughters were very young. We fell in love with Nice and the whole Cote D'Azur region when we first visited in 2007 and returned several times before deciding to invest in our own property in the city. We try to get out to Nice a few times every year and never tire of all that it has to offer.
Mary and Michael Furlong purchased this Apartment in 2010
Why Mary and Michael Furlong chose Jean-Médecin
The second we saw this apartment, we fell in love with it. It has the perfect location in Nice. A very short stroll to the Old Town or the Promenade, surrounded by fantastic restaurants and bars and close to the brilliant shopping streets of Nice. The apartment is very bright and airy. It has a double aspect, with almost full height French windows at both the front and back of the apartment. The bedrooms are to the back which opens over a covered courtyard, so it is very quiet and calming at night.

Great location and spacious
We really enjoyed our stay here in Nice. The flat was very spacious and well equipped. The location was fantastic - it was convenient to just about everything, and very walkable to the main square, the grocery store, the beach, and the train station. There are several nice restaurants within 1-2 blocks as well.
Valerie takes care of the property and she is very helpful and responsive leading up to your stay.
The beds could be more comfortable, and since there is no A/C, you need to keep the windows open in the summer for airflow. The owners do supply a lot of fans to keep you cool.
Nice apartment but no longer stunning
Location is good but very noisy. There is no air conditioning so doors are always open on a busy street. Check in is easy but representative was not willing to give any advice on local restaurants in fear of our disappointment. Kitchen is not the same as pictured and the refrigerator is now in the space where the kitchen table is pictured making the apartment feel much smaller not well put together. We turned the couch back to its original place as pictured to see the TV at night and also not to be looking straight into the kitchen at the laundry cabinet that was about to fall off and in need of repair. The rep showed us how to use the entry key to the apartment as the key was not cut properly, easy fix, and we spent the first couple of days in the hallway in ten minute periods trying to get the key into the lock “just right” to get into the apartment.
Not quite sure if the towels left for us in each bed were freshly laundered but absolutely sure the hand towel left in the bathroom was not fresh. I was wondering why the room my girls were in seemed much smaller as they could barely fit their luggage and found the old washing machine was behind the headboard.
It was a short walk to the beach, supermarket and restaurants as well as the promenade area. We still enjoyed our stay and the price was good, however, the apartment is no longer stunning as in the pictures. It is a descent place to stay and good location. We were there four days.
A great spot!
We've just spent a great week at this property. Couldn't be happier with it. It had everything we needed. The location couldn't be better. Just around the corner and a short walk from everything. Thanks to Valerie for looking after us. We'll be back!
Great for families
We enjoyed are stay here. We came for the Women’s World Cup and the apartment provided everything we needed. The bedrooms were good size and the kitchen allowed us to make our own breakfasts in the morning when we weren’t buying from the nearby Boulangerie. It is perfectly located close to everything on a busy street. However you don’t hear anything in the apartment which made sleeping easy.
Only negative was that there isn’t a lift and it is a bit of a hike up the stairs with luggage but I needed the exercise.
Valerie the property manager was very nice and accessible and the owners provided a handy guide to the area. Overall top notch.
Great appartment, sunny, quiet and in a very good Location! Next to a lot of nice shops.
We had a great time in Nice. The appartment was wonderful, we already knew it because we already spent there our holidays last year! The location is very good, next to nice shops (don‘t miss the bookstore „La Sorbonne“) and only some minutes away from the beach. The appartment ist well equiped, also with kitchen stuff. The communication with the owners and the cartes-lettres was great
- they are really fast, flexibel and always very kind- thanks for it!! We will come back!
5 weeks in the fall
Overall the description of the property is fair -- excellent location to public transportation, old Nice, the beach, and the business corridor along with the large farmers' market which includes the best offering of fresh fish.
Our property manager was very helpful, providing tips on where to find the farmers' market and the middle-east meat markets, along with highlights of what we should not miss in Nice and adjacent communities. In addition, minor concerns were immediately addressed.
Be sure to check out the many tourist brochures in the cabinet beneath the TV -- a welcome addition to assist planning our outings in the area. And be sure to visit the local tourist centres by the seawall or at the train station.
We found the apartment comfortable and quiet. The kitchen is well equipped, and as such we were able to cook many evening meals after spending time in the markets.
The internet feed is robust enough to accommodate Netflix streaming and audio streaming of our Canadian radio stations. Although the supplied English TV channels were limited to news broadcasts, the consistent internet streaming entertained us.
Enjoy . . .
Location, Location, Location This beautiful newly refurbished apartment is perfectly situated for all that the Riviera and Nice has to offer, only steps away from Place Massena, the city’s most majestic and famous square. The Square is considered to be the centre of Nice and marks the intersection of Vieux (old) Nice and new Nice.
The world famous palm tree lined Promenade des Anglais is a mere 10 minute walk away, perfect for taking a seat and admiring the view, bike hiring or relaxing with local Niçoise. The old town is 5 minutes away, its maze of narrow streets packed with boutiques, restaurants, coffee houses and bars.
There are numerous pâtisseries, artisan shops, wine bars and restaurants on your doorstep. World class shopping on Ave John Medican and Rue Paradis are 2 minutes away with Gallerie Lafayette on the corner. Venturing further afield, the tram stop and bus stops are only moments from your door. This apartment really is the perfect base to explore the entire Riviera.
