An adorable cottage in one of Southold's most beautiful neighborhoods! If you like to kayak or paddleboard, you will love the location of this sweet cottage within steps of Goose Creek! Our kayak and paddle board are kept at Goose creek and use of them comes with all rentals...... Just take a short walk down to the water and jump in! Or, if you'd rather hit the beach, the cottage is centered within moments of the trifecta of Southold's best sandy Bay beaches: South Harbor Beach, Cedar Beach, and Goose Creek Beach! If you enjoy the vineyards, it is within minutes to countless North Forth wineries and less than three minutes to favorites like Croteaux, Corey Creek, Raphael and Mattabella. Some of the best bicycling routes cross the path of this neighborhood and shouldn't be missed. The location couldn't be better from all that the North Fork offers. It's also just a stone's throw to Greenport:one of the loveliest small port villages on the east coast with some of the best restaurants this side of the city. Our home is central to everything you could want to do on the North Fork yet the cottage is quiet and peaceful and has a truly relaxing vibe.
The house comes equipped with cable tv, wifi, king bed in the master, 2 twin beds in the 2nd bedroom (and two child size mattresses under twin beds for sleepovers!) There is a full bath with tub, laundry in the basement and an enormous outdoor shower out back! The kitchen comes with all modern conveniences and appliances big and small. The large backyard offers a BBQ, hammock, and huge firepit for lingering into the night. There is a large patio area with comfy loveseats and chairs. The creek is famous for clamming and fishing or just taking a beautiful evening stroll to sit and watch the moon come up. This charming cottage is in one of Southold's most beautiful areas. You will love biking or just walking around this lovely neighborhood that is centered in the heart of the North Fork's oldest and most desirable town.

Full refund policy described on lease.”
I've been lucky enough to have had a summer home in Mattituck for over 45 years. To know me is to know how much I love sharing my enthusiasm for the North Fork with others. This area has given me so much happiness throughout my life, it's hard to put into words. First in my childhood and now into my adulthood, my happiest days have been spent on the North Fork. During some precious moments each summer I am still fortunate enough to nurture the love of this area in my own child. When I am able to open up my home to someone who wants to spend time here, I feel it is an opportunity to help them fall in love just as much as I have....it usually doesn't take long.
Joy Ellinghaus purchased this cottage in 2013
This is such a peaceful, quiet neighborhood. It is gorgeous for evening walks or morning bike rides. The house and property have a very relaxing vibe inside and out.
This property is within moments to our two favorite Bay beaches on the Fork; Goose Creek and South Harbor....They are simply idyllic. We can also leave the kayak at the association beach at the Creek which is a lovely benefit. We just walk to the creek and hop in! It can be early morning or evening dusk, it is always a treasure. The Creek is very wide at the beach and leads out to the bay at Goose Creek beach so it's beautiful for kayaking and paddle boarding. It also seems to be 5 minutes to everything! Southold is the epicenter of the North Fork, maybe it exists in a beautiful time warp!
The pictures of our Southold rental were accurate and we were happily pleased when we arrived to find a whimsical and clean home. The house had all the amenities to make our stay easy (pots and pans; great towels and sheets); the outside area was also furnished in a comfortable manner so we could enjoy not only the house but the grounds as well.
Additionally the communication with the owner was easy and efficient.
I recommend staying at this location..especially for more than 2 days so you can enjoy all the activities nearby.
My family & I enjoyed an amazing week in this adorable Southold cottage. Our first night was a true North Fork experience. Thanks to Joy's knowledgable suggestion, we enjoyed burgers & wonderful wine on the lawn of Mcalls vineyard. I highly recommend the Chardonnay "Unoaked"! This family friendly vineyard was even fun for our five year old. Our week followed with exploration of various beaches, excursions into Greenport village & Orient Park, lots of kayaking & paddle boarding, even more ice cream from numerous sweets shops, roasting marshmallows over the firepit, & tasting local wine. Thanks to Joy's detailed welcome packet & Southold's perfect weather, we enjoyed adventures, yet relaxed in the gentle, slower moving world of the East End. Knowing about "kid" friendly vineyards & activities was beyond useful. Thanks Joy! We're looking forward to visiting again real soon.
Just got back from a beautiful, relaxing stay in southold at this sweet little place. It has everything you need for a great summer vacation. I've been to the north fork many times and I have to say, I think this is the best location. Southold is so central to everything and having bikes and a kayak and a sweet little backyard just puts it over the top. The house had everything we needed and Joy provided tons of information and was just great to work with. Would love to return!
An adorable cottage with everything you need for a relaxing, comfortable stay in the North Fork. Joy and Jon are friendly, helpful and a pleasure to rent from. I'd be happy to stay here again, and hope I have the opportunity to do so again soon!
The owner of this cottage, Joy and her husband, are AMAZING. She went above and beyond every step of the way to make this past weekend a perfect engagement getaway.
The cottage is so well decorated and fosters a quaint, rustic vibe that meshes perfectly with its surroundings. It also feels quite luxurious with a fantastic king size bed and lots of amenities. My favorite aspect was the backyard area with lots of seating and a super convenient fire pit. We had 3 nights of relaxing around a glowing bon fire sipping wine and snacking. Lastly, having access to complimentary bikes, a 2 seater kayak, fishing poles, beach equipment, etc really put this place over the top, and all for very reasonable prices.
Cannnot recommend this cottage enough.
We absolutely loved our family vacation in Southold and in this lovely, clean, quiet, charming cottage. It was the perfect place for our family of 4 (two small children). The location was ideal for easy access to private, quiet beaches and creeks for activities like kayaking. The home itself has everything you need to feel welcomed and comfortable and to enjoy a home-away-from-home. Joy is the most kind, communicative, caring, responsive, respectful owner - she was always accessible by email to answer any question we had. She truly made the experience -- from booking to departure -- an easy and wonderfully pleasant one. My family absolutely loved our vacation and we plan to return to this home again next summer! Highly recommend!
While in Southold be sure to visit the Custer Institute and the Indian Museum. Both are situated on Main Bayview about half a mile from our home. The Custer Observatory has stargazing most Saturday nights in the summer. The Indian Museum pays tribute to the area's rich Native American history. Southold itself was settled in 1640 and has many wonderful museums to visit (along with the wineries and beaches of course!)
