About the property

Quiet Cozy Cabin the Woods

This well maintained and well equipped home is really a cozy cabin in the woods. It’s located on a quiet dead-end street with little or no traffic and backs to open forests. It has immediate access to trails at the rear of the home for hiking or snowshoeing in the winter.

The home has three bedrooms and a loft to provide plenty of room for your whole family. The kitchen is fully equipped and has plenty of work space for the chef in the outfit. The living room has a brand new wood stove and plenty of firewood provided to keep you toasty in the winter.

Adults can enjoy quiet conservation in the spacious and comfy living room while the kids can enjoy the TV, DVD player or VCR upstairs in the loft with their favorite entertainment. In addition to the media equipment, there is Cable television, free long distance telephone, dishwasher, micro-wave, toaster oven and a washer and dryer.

Tahoe Donner development is close to miles of great hiking trails in the beautiful Sierras in the summer and close to several world class ski resorts for winter sports. Squaw Valley, Northstar, Sugar Bowl, Boreal and Mt. Rose are all within a 30 minute drive. Some of the best cross country skiing in the United States is close by at Tahoe Donner and Royal Gorge. The two car garage has protected entry into the house, the driveway is plowed, and there is parking for six cars, if needed.

There are two guest passes, each of which allows four persons to access the amenities of Tahoe Donner for a nominal fee. Those amenities include outdoor pool, a lap pool, steam room, hot tubs, tennis courts, downhill and cross country skiing, equestrian facilities in the summer and a private beach on Donner lake. There is also a challenging 18 hole championship golf course. I have provided some pictures of these amenities for your review

The cabin was thoroughly acceptable, and well outfitted. We had plenty of room for a family of 4, and could have had another 2-4 depending on their sleeping needs. The location was perfect for access to Tahoe Donner XC ski trails (our goal), and given a low snow year we appreciated the passes to the gym. Truckee is also close by with lots of restaurants and shops to choose from. The property is well reflected in the photos. For the most part the property is quite clean and fairly well maintained. There are lots of staples in the kitchen, a pleasant surprise. The owner was helpful when we had challenges with the website, and he answered promptly. I would consider renting again in future years.

The cabin is only 3bdr not 4 as stated. The loft has some couches but they are straight wood, the mattresses are not to be slept on as they are extremely hard and very thin. The cabin is ok and good layout, but in much need of an upgrade. At least for starters the owner needs to invest in some mattresses, as they are very old and hard to sleep on. On the plus side the price was very good, but you get what you pay for.

Very clean, well equipped and convenient

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is bigger and nicer than it looks on pictures. It was very clean, convenient for two small families and everything you may need was there! It had a charm of wooden cabin with high ceiling and big living room, and the fireplace made us feel at home.

Wonderful cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 6 stay at this wonderful cabin and I highly recommend it. John was very responsive and constantly updated me on everything. The pictures do not do this property justice! Everything was very clean and organized upon arrival. We didn't have to travel too far as the back yard was full of snow and already ready to use for sledding. Very nice place to stay that is close to Truckee Downtown area.

Great experience in this quaint location.

  • 5 of 5

We were there in the winter with fresh snow on the ground. It was magically quiet and beautiful. Roads and the driveway were plowed daily. Cabin was well laid out for entertaining and made for a very comfortable weekend. There are several rules for what to do with laundry and cleaning so pay attention to that.

Very nice place!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is very nice and was perfect for our short get away to the snow. The pictures do not do it justice, the home is well kept and equipped with everything you may need. With all the recent storms, the backyard had plenty of snow for the kids to play in. We also took the kids to the sledding area which was nice but a tad costly even given the cost as guests. The owner was extremely responsive and dropped by the property to replenish some supplies he noticed was running low. It was a good thing he did too as we weren't able to locate the guest cards. The owner was able to get replacement cards immediately which we appreciated. Property is close to many resorts and Safeway was close by for all your grocery needs. We will definitely stay here again!
