About the property

5 Bedroom, 4 1/2 Bath

This spectacular beach front home in SummerCamp Beach is truly a vacation home like no other. Perfect for large or extended families, this Gulf Front home has 3 master suites all with a private luxury baths. Two bunkrooms provide 8 more beds offering plenty of sleeping arrangements for children of all ages. A gourmet kitchen with stainless steel appliances and custom cabinetry will delight those who truly want a first class experience. Designed from the ground up to take advantage of the ocean setting, this home puts you at the edge of the water with breath taking views for literally miles out to the Gulf of Mexico. A gentle breeze awaits you on the spacious screened porch that wraps the entire front of the house. Down below features a large gathering area where you can shower outdoors after swimming or beach combing. Two large family rooms allow for total living space flexibility with flat screen tvs in every bedroom. The unique architecture of the home provides massive windows throughout, offering amazing views of the entire beach area. With no neighbors to the left of right, you will feel like you have stepped into your private paradise. This home is truly one of a kind.

'Happy Ours' is located in SummerCamp beach. This resort community provides a unique beach experience that is both rustic and natural at the same time. At certain times during the year there may be seaweed that washes ashore and may decrease the amount of beach that is exposed.

There is a community pool within walking distance of the home. Kick back and enjoy breathtaking views of the gulf as you lounge under a cabana or swim in the pool.

If you are looking for adventure, walk down to the kayak shack and hop on one of the kayaks or canoes. Cruise the shallows of the gulf while getting up close and personal with the sea life. Watch out for jumping mullet!

Commune with nature as you walk along one of the many boardwalks in the community that wind through the undisturbed marshlands, wetlands and woods.

This is what old Florida feels like and you will sense that you have stepped back into a simpler time, where fishing, boating, shelling, swimming and reconnecting with family is possible. Located just 45 minutes south of the Tallahassee airport, getting here is quite convenient, but leaving will be very hard.

Perfect home in the perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

We loved every minute of our stay at Happy Ours! The house was AMAZING and our family of 6 adults and 2 kiddos had more than enough room. We have been to the area before and the bugs, beach, shallow water were expected and not an issue. We rented a paddle board and used the community kayaks and saw dolphins most of the days we were out on the water. The pool was a hit with our little ones and was never crowded.

During this visit, we rented a pontoon and made the trip to Dog Island. The shells and waves were HUGE and we had a wonderful time. We spent a day at the beach on beautiful St George Island and took a day trip to Apalachicola for shopping and dinner at Up the Creek Raw Bar.

This was one of my favorite vacations and the house allowed us all to be together, still have privacy, and truly enjoy the wonders of nature.

Our Dream Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the beautiful home of Erika Watson. A very spacious home and beautiful property. Sitting on the deck and enjoying the ocean and weather can be described in one word: Salubrious. We enjoyed the ocean and the nearby community pool. We were close enough to visit Carrabelle Beach and St. George Island State Park Beach and where we fished at the pier. We went to Wakulla Springs one day for a interesting boat ride on the river. But most of all we enjoyed the wonderful home and the peace and quiet ! We have been to Florida about 20 times -- all over the State. Nothing even comes close to what we enjoyed this year.

The house was spectacular. However the sand fleas negated our opinion of the property!!!

  • 1 of 5

The beach area of this property was covered up with sand fleas! There were 1,000s upon 1,000s of these pests!!! (More like 10,000s upon 10,000s!!!)

The icemaker was not working. I called Property Managers. They came out and inspected. They turned on the water behind refrigerator. 30 minutes after they were gone there was water all over the kitchen floor. We turned the water off behind the refrigerator. Called Property Managers and they came back out and told us that the water had been turned off because of the leaking problem. (Of which they were not aware!) Bottom line refrigerator's ice maker did not work the whole week we were there.

The VRBO site advertises 5 BR / 5 BA. Actually there are only 4 1/2 BA!!! Which was a bomber because we had 12 people in our party!!!!

Owner's Response: As Property Managers, seeing a 1 star review on a home with 60 (5) star reviews stands out as a disappointment to us as well. When first alerted that the fridge was not making ice, we immediately inspected since we live in the community. It was decided that a part would be needed, so we quickly brought down bags of ice and offered to do so anytime you needed more. The freezer part has since arrived and installed, and the freezer is back to making ice . We always ask guests that if there is any reason you don’t feel that you can leave a 5 star review, please let us know so we can address the issues. We take great pride in offering wonderful vacation homes in a rustic beach setting that reminds people of “old” Florida, before the beaches were groomed and the condos were built. There is nothing but nature surrounding us, as we are at the base of a national forest. While we wish that this natural setting, critters and all, was more to your liking, we realize that what some people love, others do not.

Beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5

The house itself gets 5/5, it is truly spectacular! The pictures just don't do it justice, it is really gorgeous and very spacious! We loved the huge outdoor wrap around deck that was screened in.

That being said there were a few letdowns. There are no bathtubs so if you have kids plan accordingly. The beach was not as nice as we expected. It's very mucky and gross, definitely not for swimming. We walked out during low tide the first night there and the rest of the time we just went to other beaches or the pool. The kayaks were really fun and we went to the pool everyday once we discovered how nice it was! The house could also use more refrigeration considering it's for 14 people for a whole week. We had to store stuff in coolers. Overall we enjoyed our stay at this home, just not necessarily the location.

Can't Wait to Return!!!

  • 5 of 5

Waking up to a beautiful sunrise, with peace and quiet -- what more could you want for vacation? We've been coming to Carrabelle the past 5 years and Summer Camp Beach, "Happy Ours" is by far the best in the area for our large family. We traveled with kids, grandkids, niece & nephew - 12 in all. The home accommodated everyone with ease, never feeling crowded. The top floor was like a separate home, with a living room for the kids to watch TV and play games, table for cards or games, and well equipped laundry, king suite/bath overlooking the gulf and 2 bunk rooms. Main floor has 2 King suites with baths and additional ½ bath. All bedrooms and baths are large. The combination kitchen/dining/living/family area is beautifully laid out and provides enough space for everyone's comfort, but still feel like part of the group. The whole house entertainment system allows you to listen to music in every room and outside. The screened porch is the BEST part of the house -- enjoy the gulf breeze; watch the birds, fish and boaters; and never worry about getting eaten by bugs! There are plenty of beach chairs and toys available - don't bother bringing. Gas grill downstairs, shower for returning from the beach and the pool a short walk. We also used the kayaks and canoe. The house feels very secluded, like your private oasis. Our only criticism would be needing more pots/pans and the lack of a separate pantry for our food, but we were able to overcome that by rearranging a kitchen cabinet. Erika did an awesome job responding to all our needs and answering questions before and during our vacation. Overall, the house helped make this a great vacation for the whole family with a unanimous vote to return again next year.

Amazing views!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a great stay here it was very roomy and the views are amazing! We saw dolphins one evening and there was a baby shark that came to visit in the afternoons! The tide went down in the evening and my son loved to walk out and fish during that time. We enjoyed the pool that is only a short distance from the house. The kayaks were very convient to use. Carabelle is only @ 10 minutes away and had any supplies we needed. We made the drive to St George island and had a blast there also the kids loved the big waves and collected a lot of sea shells. We hope to come back soon!
