Stunning, Spacious Vacation Rental with Wrap-Around Balcony Near French Quarter

Originally built in 1865, the entire second floor of this renovated, 1400 sq. foot, 2 bedroom 'storehouse' has its own private entrance with a full size elevator. Designed with an open floor plan, this apartment boasts 12' tall ceilings and a 900 sq. foot wrap-around balcony overlooking Chartres and Marigny Streets. Adorned with outdoor furniture, an over-sized hammock and a collection of colorful, potted plants - the gallery invites a relaxing atmosphere for guests to star gaze, people watch, and grill on the two bar-b-que pits available.

The fully equipped, eat-in kitchen includes a stove, a refrigerator, a dishwasher and another private second floor courtyard.

Imported Italian tiles adorn a magnificent bathroom w/ a walk in shower, dressing area and full size washer and dryer.

The living room features a 65', high-definition, flat screen TV w/ surround sound, a wi-fi connection, and a very comfortable leather sectional and recliner.

The master bedroom includes a kingsized bed, a walk-in closet, a dresser, and an armoire with a built in 45', high definition, flat-screen TV. The second bedroom has an antique, iron-wrought full-size bed and armoire.

This tastefully decorated home's comfortable furniture, original hardwood floors, huge 9' windows throughout, central a/c and heat and five ceiling fans make this home a veritable oasis for relaxing after jaunts around our beautiful but sometimes humid city. Designed for four people, there is plenty of space to provide sleeping accommodations for another 2 people with air mattress provided.

We are only 2 blks away from the Mississippi River at the corner of Chartres Street and Marigny Street in the Historic Faubourg Marigny. Being so closely located to the French Market, the Street Care line allows fun and easy access to other attractions such as the Aquarium of th e America's, Jackson Square, Cafe' du Monde and numerous others. Walking, however, is not a problem as you are only 3 blocks from the French Quarter and even closer to the hip Frenchman Street, World Famous for it's Jazz Music, along with a mecca of bars, restaurants and Jazz Clubs.

This amazing neighborhood is hot-spot where locals come for entertainment and the neighborhood is the point of origin for several Carnival marching parades. This location provides not only close access to the French Quarter but also this location in the Foubourg Marigny allows you a glimpse of the Historic past beyond the French Quarter as you marvel at the surviving architecture that has become home to many writers, painters, musicians and artists of all sorts. The area boasts of colorfully painted homes, trendy restaurants, coffee shops and clubs with an amazing mixture of all types of people living in this vibrant urban setting.

The Marigny is safe, quiet, and brimming over with old-world, New Orleans charm.

Public transportation is close and available to transport guests to the Central Business District, Metarie, Mid City & the Garden District. The Street Car Line allows you fun and easy access to the French Quarter and other attractions such as the Aquarium of the Americas, Jackson Square, Cafe' Du Monde, the World War II museum, and numerous others. Walking however, is not a problem as you are only 3 blocks away from the French Quarter and even closer to the hip Frenchman Street mecca of bars, restaurants and Jazz clubs.

New Orleans charm meets function and practicality

I'll be back and when I do I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else. The upstairs apartment is a dream. The furnishings are comfortable and the decor is simple but authentically NOLA. There were three of us and we had plenty of room inside and out. When we weren't sleeping we were outside on the balcony. Drinking coffee in our pajamas. Sharing a round of beers in the hot damp darkness. Just a dreamy vacation rental and the balcony takes this place to another level for vactioners. The location of this rental is exactly what we were looking for: a place just a few blocks from the quarter but not in the quarter and within walking distance to restaurants and such and had enough room for us to really unwind. Frankie's place met all of those criteria and when we arrived all of those criteria came to life. The marigny is a great place to stay and despite a few neighbors snarling at us (apparently folks aren't happy with rentals especially when the guests are loud and obnoxious- which we weren't) we felt right at home in the area. We flew a very long way to spend 10 days in NOLA and I'm so glad we had this place to spend it in. Frenchmen St is a 5 min walk away and the music could sometimes even be heard on the balcony! Just wonderful. Frankie and Brian are fantastic hosts and the place was spotless for us. The AC, bathroom, kitchen, internet and amenities worked as promised. We will be back!

The space is open but there's privacy for the bedrooms of course with beautiful double French doors. The photos hardly do this place justice. Frankie was extra helpful and friendly. I can't think of a single thing I would criticize. Thank you Frankie. From the bottom of my heart!

Lovely space close to the action

Location! We loved that we could walk to everything: Frenchman's Street, the Quarter, the Mississippi, but that we could also walk home to our spacious quiet apartment and great deck. Frankie was very accomodating with our arrival and departure times and we had everything we needed.

NOLA vibes

My husband and I stayed here with our two young children for second week of Jazz Fest. We have stayed in the area several times before and love the location and its proximity to Frenchmen Street and the Marigny/Bywater neighborhoods. Pros: amazing balcony, very comfortable beds, well-stocked with everything we needed for laundry, kitchen and bath (even toiletries!). We've stayed in places where we had to buy a dish sponge, soap, paper towels, etc. and so this was greatly appreciated. The house is clean and nicely updated with a stereo system throughout the living areas and ample lighting. Frankie was very easy to communicate with, easily accessible by text and answers immediately. Washer/dryer worked well. Secured front door. Did I mention the amazing balcony?? Cons: the elevator wasn't working when we were there, but we just left our stroller and chairs, etc. for Jazz Fest in the hallway downstairs and they were safe there. It was just a bonus feature for us, had it been working, but if it's a necessity for you, I'd check to be sure it's working prior to arrival. Also, the A/C didn't work the first 24 hours we were there and it was HOT. However, Frankie did have a repair person there ASAP and it was fixed... the apartment didn't seem to ever truly cool down (we like it cool for sleeping), but this seems to be more of an issue with the combo of extreme NOLA humidity, an upstairs apartment and an old building. I don't hold it against Frankie, just something to be aware of if you're super sensitive to heat. The only other issue we had was a bathroom door that doesn't quite latch shut.. Not a big deal, unless you have a toddler who likes to bust into the bathroom when he sees somebody walk in. Doesn't allow for much privacy, but not a deal breaker (and easily repaired). And please note: the shower is an open extension of the rest of the bathroom. There is NO tub, shower curtain, wall, etc. It's truly a walk-in shower that is open to the toilet, sink and washer/dryer. There is no privacy between the sink, toilet and shower. Not a bad thing, just something to be aware of! Overall, the pros far outweigh the cons and I'd definitely recommend this apartment to anybody visiting NOLA. Thank you Frankie for a wonderful visit (and for sending home our forgotten teddy bear!).

Exactly what we wanted!

After many trips staying in the French Quarter, we really wanted to try Marigny. We are so glad we did and that we found THIS place. Frankie is a very gracious host. The two bedroom unit was quite spacious and we spent untold hours on the balcony. Highly recommend!!!

This is the one you want!

Beautiful interior with hardwood floors, brick fireplace and wraparound porch. This place overlooks a great bar across the street and is just a few steps away from a bike rental shop (Alex's). Frankie's is just far enough away from the fun to get a good night sleep but still be able to walk to most of the parties! Litterally across the main road is Frenchman. Love this place

I don’t like rules - in fact, I spend considerable time and energy challenging authority. But while you’re here, kindly observe the following “guidelines”:

* Smoking is allowed outdoors only.

*Pets are welcome with a 100.00 non-refundable deposit

*Check-in time is 4:00 pm and check-out time is 12:00 pm unless otherwise approved. An early check-in may be arranged based on availability. A late check-out may be arranged based on the severity of your hangover.

* We try to maintain quiet(er) hours between 11pm and 9am - so please do not operate your fork lift or park your helicopter during that time.

* Please be respectful of my neighbors. Guests who repeatedly disturb other guests or
neighbors will be asked to leave and will not be provided a refund. Gatherings that include six or more non-residential guests require my prior approval.

*Note this unit is best suited for four occupants, but can accommodate six with a queen-sized air mattress (available upon request). Any additional overnight guests beyond the maximum are subject to an additional $50.00 per night fee.

Parking:
Finding free street parking within a block or two is rarely a problem, but please be advised that your vehicle must be parked along the curb at least 20ft behind the street’s intersection or you will get ticketed and/ or towed. We are not responsible for damage to vehicles, or damage or loss of property left in parked vehicles, regardless of location.
